Pitino very explicitly said in the article last week he would not coach in the Big 10, because of his son being fired at Minnesota. Given he is being publicly linked to GTown, he could have also explicitly ruled out Georgetown. He did not. Nobody will ever employ Ewing in any kind of coaching capacity again. He is the Rich Kotite of college basketball. We gave you the info you requested. You claimed it was so hard to find. Now you are side stepping. I’m okay if he’s just special assistant to the AD or goodwill ambassador for the University if it brings in Pitino. Do you have a problem with that. He needs to be banished from Georgetown forever. The damage he has done is so extensive that any further association with this deleted can not be tolerated.

It would be unfathomable if Ewing & RT are left with any role after the past two years of rewriting the BE record books.

I say without exaggeration that we could have hired a person loitering outside of Wawa on Wisconsin Ave., paying them $13M, and they could have done as good a job as Ewing.
Not hyperbole.

wondering if NIL really hurt Ewing. Its been an adjustment for some coaches. How do you think they got Brandon Murray?

I have already lamented that Sky King was no longer with us. He clearly could have done as well as Pat and been way more entertaining doing it.

I know so many of you feel sorry for yourselves at 0-20, 2-18 and 7-24 for one year. But take a look at my moniker and I have not only the Hoyas, but also the Golden Bears at 3-27.
Somewhat common records but I have been withholding mentioning they should play each other so at least one could get a win (losses are overwhelming anyway) but I think the Hoyas easily prevail. And that may not be good for getting rid of PE and RT.
Another common feature is Cal wants to not only get rid of Fox as coach but Knowlton as AD with his total mismanagement of major sports. Darn good at Rugby, Water Polo, Crew, and swimming, but MIA in FB and BB.
Big donors at both schools are digging deep with extensions requiring big buyouts.
Maybe the only positive is that come next week I think I will feel much better with a big FLUSH on both coasts. Go Hoyas, Go Bears.

Keep in mind a lot of the NIL stuff is really nonsense and merely guiding money to players. These often aren’t like real endorsement deals where you repeatedly plug something, etc. Put up some token social media posts etc. and collect the money. It’s a farce but it’s legal and kids want money. Whoever bankrolled Murray NIL money certainly isn’t getting a good deal.

Something seems odd at Providence. I wonder if Cooley has actually been thinking of leaving.
Still prefer Pitino, but gladly would take Cooley over any other option we’d have.

Iona gets the W at Rider; finish the regular season on an 11 game win streak.

NIL is a bag of money over the table instead of under the table. No sponsorship. They all are getting something. Bad ROI. NIL is not that. And no, not everyone is getting something. NIL is the ability for a student-athlete to be compensated for brand marketing. Most schools have NIL programs, incl. Georgetown. Most students never see NIL money and those that do, comparatively little. INFLCR, the company that manages Georgetown's NIL and many others, produced these stats from last year to measure NIL impacts: Average value of all NIL transactions: $1,815 Median value of all NIL transactions: $53 Average value of Power 5 NIL deals: $2,144 per person Average value of Non-Power 5 NIL deals: $558 per person In addition, owing to F-1 student visas prohibiting off-campus work, most international students cannot receive NIL money. A collective is a booster-led, usually non-profit foundation that provides benefits independent of a university. www.si.com/college/2022/08/10/nil-collectives-boosters-football-tennessee-daily-cover

And i was thinking the same thing while watching PC's game today - not because they got smoked at home but because Cooley's energy over the last few games has seemed a bit off. Anyway....we shall see

Wouldn’t want someone who has given up on his team because he’s already going to another team a la Bill Freider. Pitino would not do that.

So my other alma mater is Fairfield where Cooley originally came from... In his final year, Fairfield was the #1 seed in the MAAC tournament with the tournament hosted at their arena. The rumor was the team found out he was taking the PC job that day, and they came out during the first half of the semi-finals they were heavily favored in against St. Peter's, and proceeded to go down by 20 and wound up losing a game they had no business losing. There's an eerily similar feeling going on here. It could all be coincidental, but PC has looked like they've seen a ghost these last two home games.

Cooleys overall and post season records are kinda meh unless you are grading on the curve that Providence is a place where you can't win. He gets credit for doing things that 10 years ago would have been considered underwhelming seasons at Georgetown.
Still, obviously a massive upgrade over Ewing.
