I'm not worried though I think it will take time. Depending on the vibe and the wins; the fans will come around sooner if we're good and they're picking up a good vibe from the whole program and new coach. THAT'S why Pitino is the man for this job. He knows inside out what to do -- hire him, support him, give him what he needs, then get out of the way and watch it go, watch it grow.
My kid will be a junior -- I know he and his friends will definitely get up for a better team and fun vibe. Many posters here have said it for a while: if the team is winning, they will come. I will add that if they are winning (and even losing close ones) and the positivity is there, they will come. Give them something to get behind and be proud of/be part of, they will be there!
PITINO! Make him our new coach and get ready to be excited about Hoya basketball again!

1. Pitino
2/3/3a. Mike Young, Ed Cooley*, Dennis Gates* * if admin has 30-40 mill to spend
4/5/6. Holtmann, Keatts, Mack
7/8/9/10. Rhoades, Urgo, McCasland, James Jones
is my list. Shouldn't have to go past the first name.

I like Brey and while I recognize he has been bad for the better party of six years now I think a change in scenery would really help him, and personally I’d have him above a few guys in your bottom tier. Mike Rhoades doesn’t get talked about enough. Though to be fair his guys are about as bad at offense as Brey’s guys are on defense and if Rhoades was playing in the ACC the W/L differential between the two probably wouldn’t be so great.

How much would you bet that Pitino will get a serious look? I hope it happens but I'm not holding my breath, just hard to see JD going this direction We have hit rock bottom and JD must know it. It is time for a radical change in direction. I am feeling optimistic even though I know how they have run things since the 70s. The program has BEEN at rock bottom since midway thru the last conference season, the only comments we've heard from the administration are "PE deserves our support" & "PE knows it's imperative to get the program back on track". The last comment was made 6 weeks ago which doesn't exactly make me think a radical change is coming, personally, I'm just hoping for a normal change which would definitely include the entire staff being let go(S&C, trainers too)

Pitino puts us front and center tomorrow. Lead story on Sportscenter, Washington Post, and any other media outlet. It’s a slam dunk. While there may be other ‘good’ hires, he puts us back in the national spotlight immediately. Whichever poster said anything less is a failure…I 100% agree! The lady selling coffe at Starbuck’s can get us 2 wins in conference in 2 years. We need something to make headlines.

Though to be fair his guys are about as bad at offense as Brey’s guys are on defense and if Rhoades was playing in the ACC the W/L differential between the two probably wouldn’t be so great. Yes, plenty of caveats here. The first being Young's availability. The buyout is only $4.6M. We're a better job than VTech. He has the in-roads in DC. The Big East is in better shape than the ACC. I think he'd jump at it. Cooley probably non-realistic unless there's a 30-40 million dollar investment ... and that's overkill for Ed Cooley. He's a very good coach. He's not elite. The other caveat being the lowest tier. Rhoades, Urgo, McCasland would all need a certified offensive coordinator on staff at the highest level. But all look to be elite defensively and after watching this 6 year turn-style, I'm more attracted by that in a homerun swing than in recruiting, charisma, or even offensive Xs and Os. Brey would likely bring a great staff (Jones? Pegues? Solomon?) so there would be a chance of success there. He'd likely be competent. But I essentially disqualify him as I'm not takin a risk on the defensive side of the ball this time around. And if you're going to hire the old white guy for his swan song its Pitino 100 times out of 100.

But the ripple affect, could bring a huge financial windfall in the schools favor. Pitino sells tickets, before the season begins. Midnight Madness, season tickets and new merchandise sales! No one else can offer that ROI as soon as Pitino, IMO. Makes it a little easier to eat the buyout.

I had season tickets through 2019-20. But I could not justify the expense or travel time (4 hour round trip to DC for me) for the horrid teams we ran out there the last two seasons
If we hire pitino - I will absolutely purchase season tickets again
I don't think there is any other coach that I can say that for. For any other new coach - I'll go to all the early season games, and may well end up going to all the games if we play respectably. But only Pitino is an "automatic season ticket purchase" for me

Younger up and coming coach, maybe.

It’s so simple. Pitino has the place packed next season opener. Which other coach can do that?

Is anyone else starting to get a bit concerned that even when we get a new coach, their fandom is going to be difficult to get back? Patrick Ewing has absolutely destroyed all the good will I’ve had for this basketball team for almost my entire life; I’m not sure I can get right back to the place I was even just a few years ago. The disastrous end of the JTIII seemed like a blip, but this is something else entirely. IMO, it will only be a problem if the choice is uninspiring (e.g., Mike Brey). We are in so much pain now, that any good choice will be welcomed and hopefully bring us back. My main issue is that these scars are going to be around for awhile retrospectively, and there's still a few more to come.

The place would be packed... It's not about attendance, and it's no reflection on Staley. No matter what one thinks of her successes to date, it's still a gamble. We can't take a gamble.

The place would be packed... For game one, there’d be more press members than fans. After that, not so sure. And I’d be ok with that hire, out of the box as it is - just think it would be a quick blip of coverage, then she’d have to earn the crowd. Not a comp to the buzz of Pitino, IMO.
