Rooths impressed with his level of comfort playing with the ball in his hands. He has an athletic and mature frame. When combined with his ability to create for himself, he can be a mismatch at either forward position. There were a lot of times where open eyes with his nifty takes to the rim and pull-ups over smaller defenders. He should only gain more steam as a prospect as his confidence in his game continues to pick up." 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/longformarticle/nbpa-top100-knueppel-acuff-bryant-rooths-mckinley-morez-sorber-212323067/#2191554

"10 must-see matchups at this year's Nike Peach Jam The Nike Peach Jam tips off on Monday and will feature a plethora of big time match ups... TEAM TAKEOVER V. THE FAMILY When: Thursday 4:30 PM ET What to watch for: Over the past few months, few players have taken the grassroots world by storm like The Family’s star floor general Darius Acuff. A 6-foot-1 scoring machine from Detroit, Acuff went from totally off the radar to being ranked as the top point guard in the class of 2025 while earning offers from Houston, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and several more. This one will be his first of the live period in front of coaches and he’s sure to draw some big-name leaders. When it comes to Team Takeover, we are talking about one of the deepest programs in the country and a team that will be a threat to win titles in each age group. He won’t match up with Acuff, but we really want to see what 2024 big man Patrick Ngongba has in store. The evolving big man rose from barely in the top 100 to top 35 in the last 247Sports update and he has a chance to push his way into the five-star club with a strong outing. Duke, Kansas State, Georgetown, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Syracuse and Virginia will be just a few of the programs watching him. Don’t be surprised if he leaves the Peach Jam with a few more blue blood level offers." 247sports.com/longformarticle/college-basketball-recruiting-10-match-ups-to-watch-at-nike-peac-212378170/#2192028

"Recent Rhode Island pledge Ben Hammond was another hero for his team on Tuesday night as Team Takeover trailed Vegas Elite on the final possession of the game after having mounted a double-figure second-half comeback behind Patrick Ngongba. Hammond drove the lane, clearly looking for an opportunity to feed his big man, but the defense read the play and stayed home on Ngongba. Hammond improvised, adjusted in mid-air, and scored the game-winning bucket himself." 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/article/nike-peach-jam-jackson-carter-emerges-aj-dybantsa-carter-bryant--212445692/Hammond would be an interesting guy to keep an eye on from a future transfer portal standpoint, could be a Terrell Allen type.

"Peach Jam: Day 2 Top Performers... 6. Four-star C Patrick Ngongba Down the stretch of a close game, Patrick Ngonba was at his best. Team Takeover was able to go to the 6-foot-10 center on the block and know that something would happen. Ngonba has a strong frame with great length and very soft touch and hands. In the second half of the game, Ngongba showed comfort going over his left and right shoulder. When his go-to move would get cut off, he showed he was comfortable with his counters to get the look. Ngongba finished with a team-high 12 points. While that number may not be super-impressive, the timing of his makes were. The No. 36 player in the 2024 On3 150 finished 6-for-8 from the field and also added 8 rebounds... Three-star SF AJ Swinton (Boo Williams) dunked the ball with authority, and that was his thing in this one. He attacked the rim with a purpose and stayed active off the ball. He finished with 15 points on 7-for-10 from the field... Four-star SF Isaiah Abraham (Team Takeover) played well above the rim today. The high-flying wing attacked the basket in straight lines, with aggression. He had numerous dunks in the half-court, moving really well off the ball." www.on3.com/news/peach-jam-day-2-top-performers/

"Isaiah Abraham didn’t name a specific announcement date on Wednesday, but the four-star forward did say he hopes to put his recruitment behind him “right after Peach Jam,” which is set to wrap up this weekend. While a specific announcement date is still being debated, what does feel certain is the fact that Abraham will land at either UConn or Marquette. The No. 69 prospect in the Rivals150 says he already has an idea of which program it will be, but he isn’t in a hurry to share that choice with the world. “I might wait like a week after we leave [Peach Jam] at most,” Abraham said. “I’ve pretty much already decided, but I still need to talk it over with my family and make sure before I announce.” Providence and Virginia join the Huskies and Golden Eagles in Abraham’s official top four but neither feels especially likely to be the choice when push comes to shove. As for Marquette and UConn, Abraham says each has its own, unique allure. "UConn comes with that great, winning program,” he said. “They just put guys in the NBA so that’s something I look at. Then, just the coaching staff. They prioritize me. With Marquette, that was my first visit. Obviously, my dad (Faisal Abraham) has his legacy there. I really like Shaka (Smart), too, and just the program as a whole. My dad just tells me what to value in schools. He just wants me to choose the best place for me.” basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/cassidy-s-takeaways-wednesday-s-peach-jam-action

"QUEEN LOOKS DOMINANT The top ranked player in the class of 2024 in the Under Armour Association at No. 6 nationally, rising senior center Derik Queen certainly looked like the best player in the gym on Thursday. Yes, others put up big numbers, but the reality nobody else that 247Sports saw looked as good as the big man from Baltimore. Simply put, Queen is a scoring machine around the hoop. He’s still working on his body and isn’t a high-flyer, but he sure is skilled and he sure has a tremendous feel for scoring on the interior. He spins, he fakes, he uses both hands and he plays with a supreme confidence that allows him to get one bucket after another. In the past, he’s had spells where he falls in love with the jump shot but that wasn’t the case while we watched him on Thursday. Rather than settling, he used the threat of being a jump shooter to make him even more of a difficult cover around the basket. In recent interviews with 247Sports, Queen has been pretty quiet about which direction he may be leaning but behind the scenes it is thought that Indiana and Maryland have emerged ahead of the pack. On Thursday, Terps coach Kevin Willard was easily found near center court for each of Queen’s games. We didn’t notice anybody from the Hoosiers staff on Thursday, but sources indicate they plan to see him plenty this weekend." 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/longformarticle/college-basketball-recruiting-under-armour-next-finals-derik-que-212536747/#2193809

Either way, a decision should come in short order, as the four-star guard seems to have his mind made up already. Providence should be considered a dark horse here, as Kim English has done a nice job down the stretch." basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/decision-imminent-for-four-star-forward-isaiah-abraham

"Summer Scouting Series: Best of the EYBL's 2024 Bigs Breaking down the games of the best rising senior big men in the EYBL, including John Bol, Patrick Ngongba, Aiden Sherrell, Morez Johnson, and Thomas Sorber... Patrick Ngongba has a tremendous combination of size, length, and offensive skill. He stands just shy of 7-feet with ultra-broad shoulders and a big frame that gives him a significant presence on both ends of the floor. He has soft hands and touch, that now extends out to the three-point line, and an inside-out offensive skill-set. He can provide a true back-to-the-basket scorer in the post, has a high release point around the paint, and the passing ability to punish double teams. He’s showing a growing passing instinct from other spots on the floor as well and can even deliver balls with both hands at this point. His developing ability to make spot-up threes only adds to his repertoire. Overall, Ngongba is an exceptionally efficient offensive player (70% FG in the EYBL regular season), but one who is showing more signs of being able to anchor a half-court offense down the road. Durability and mobility are the key variables for him moving forward. He missed time with injuries early in his high school career and was not an especially fluid mover when he returned. While he’s made great strides since, he still projects as a drop coverage big man at the next level without much defensive versatility. His physical presence in the lane gives him some value as a rim protector (1.3 blocks per game), although he still often has to shuffle his feet before elevating, while his length and hands allow him to own his area on the glass (7.8 rebounds in 19.3 minutes). Finally, Ngongba has shown a rapid rate of improvement since getting healthy, which could be a key variable to projecting his long-term upside." 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/longformarticle/scouting-john-bol-patrick-ngongba-aiden-sherrell-morez-johnson-t-212641010/#2194557

"Khani Rooths jumped to No. 17 in the recent 2024 On3 150 ranking update. The 6-foot-8 wing started this year at nationally ranked Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy and has been a standout all summer with the New World program on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit... “I’ve taken official visits to Mississippi State and Georgia so far,” Rooths said. Mississippi State: “The coaching staff stood out for me; I like Coach (Chris) Jans, and they have a great coaching staff. They know what they are doing, and they have a plan. Nothing down there really surprised me, they do a good job communicating with me during the recruitment. The campus was nice, and I liked the environment down there.” Georgia: “The coaching staff there is great too. But the town, it’s all about the Bulldogs everywhere. That really stuck out to me. The coaches did a good job showing me they have a game plan of how they see me and how I fit in with what they do. They play with a fast tempo, and they like to capitalize in transition. They have some plays that get their wings coming off stuff and the freedom to make plays, not only for myself but for my team too. I can see myself fitting in there.” “I have an official visit set up with Virginia Tech and Michigan,” Rooths said. Virginia Tech: “I’ll visit them on September 2. They have been recruiting me for a long time, and I’ve gotten to know their coaches and the coaching staff. They’re not far from home, and I want to learn as much as possible about them.” Michigan: “I’ll visit them on September 9. They always tell me about how I’m improving and how I need to keep improving. They like what I’m doing and how I’m playing. The coaches let their players rock, give them a lot of freedom, and I like that. It’s always good to have a coaching staff that produces pros. They had two drafted this year, and that is what I’m coming in for.” www.on3.com/news/khani-rooths-talks-michigan-georgia-mississippi-state-virginia-tech-updates-recruitment/

"During last week’s UA Next Finals, Derik Queen of Team Thrill and Montverde (Fla.) Academy was the most dominant player we saw. During a pair of Friday wins, Queen was once again getting things done in a big way on the offensive end. In a pair of wins over very good Mass Rivals and Southern Assault, the 6-foot-9 five-star who ranks No. 6 overall in the class of 2024 put in 48 points and grabbed 26 rebounds while converting on nearly 60% of his shots from the field. He didn’t overwhelm anybody with leaping ability or freakish quickness, but this kid sure knows how to get position, hold it and score with a high degree of skill in the low post. Going in his favor along with his overall skill level are that he’s really nimble on his feet and has a tremendous pair of hands. Queen -- who has so far taken official visits to Indiana and Maryland -- has also done much less settling for jumpers and much more going towards the hoop and the results have been tough to argue with. 247Sports analyst Travis Branham caught up with Queen for the latest just last week." 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/longformarticle/the-five-stars-shine-on-friday-in-las-vegas-212830618/#2196598

"DMV Live: Top rising seniors draw a crowd of coaches The college coaches were out in force to see some of the country's top rising seniors at DMV Live... Patrick Ngongba, PVI Ngongba has been one of the hottest names in the class this spring. After recovering from injury and sliming down, Ngongba is now considered one of the top bigs in the class and he backed that up over the weekend. Ngongba was able to switch onto smaller players defensively, use his body to carve out space in the paint, rebound, and use his soft touch around the rim which has all contributed to his big jump in the national rankings. When it comes to where his recruitment stands and who came out to see him, he garnered attention from multiple head coaches and staffs. Duke head coach Jon Scheyer and two assistants, Virginia’s head coach Tony Bennett, Kansas State head coach Jerome Tang and two assistants, Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery, UConn head coach Dan Hurley and an assistant, Kansas assistant Norm Roberts among others were in attendance for the prized big man."... Malcolm Thomas, Dematha Thomas has made big strides in his game this year. While Thomas is considered undersized for a PF/C at 6-foot-6 he makes up for it with his serious athleticism. Thomas is mobile, plays with a high motor, can defend multiple positions, rebound and block shots. While he doesn’t have a great offensive skillset just yet his activity on the glass and around the rim allows him to affect the game in a variety of ways. Virginia Tech, Xavier, Howard among others were in attendance for Thomas this weekend. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/article/dmv-live-patrick-ngongba-christian-bliss-malcolm-thomas-211790222/"Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha Catholic three-star power forward Malcolm Thomas is down to eight schools, he tells On3. Moving forward, the 6-foot-8, 195-pound rising senior will consider Cal, Florida State, Miami, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Villanova, Virginia Tech, and Xavier. Thomas has scheduled his first two official visits. He will visit Xavier on July 28-30, followed by Florida State on September 2-3. He also plans to schedule an official visit to Villanova in the near future. According to the On3 150 player rankings, Thomas ranks as the No. 139 overall prospect in the 2024 class. He’s also the No. 30 power forward and the No. 4 player in the state of Maryland... Xavier: “Xavier has been recruiting me the hardest over the past several months. Even before officially offering me. I love the atmosphere of the school and the coaching staff. I have always wanted to play in the big East and I can see myself thriving at Xavier.”... Villanova: “Villanova is a place that has always been somewhat of a dream school for me to play. The environment is crazy, and the fan base is really strong. The coaches have made me feel a sense of “family” that I really had no idea about. I love the program and the system, and I really see myself becoming great at Villanova.” www.on3.com/news/malcolm-thomas-names-top-8-schools-cal-florida-state-miami-ole-miss-vanderbilt-villanova-virginia-tech-xavier/
