Queen looks like he has lost 30 pounds in the past 12 months and it has helped him step his already impressive game up. A very skilled big man with good hands, feet and impressive size, Queen can finish with either hand around the basket, has impressive footwork and is a really good passer from the high post and the elbow to teammates on backdoor cuts. His recruitment looks like a duel between two Big Ten programs – Indiana and Maryland. Queen recently took an official to Indiana and has one scheduled to Maryland Oct. 21. It won’t be the Baltimore native’s first time on Maryland’s campus, he took an unofficial to Maryland in June. Questions still remain on whether Queen will stay in the 2024 class or reclass into 2023. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/wood-s-takeaways-hoop-exchange-fall-festival

Derik Queen, the No. 17 overall prospect in the 2024 class, had an outstanding weekend at the Hoop Exchange Fall Festival in Tavares, Florida. Following his impressive performance, Queen caught up with 247Sports to talk a little bit about his recent official visit to Indiana, his upcoming trip to Maryland and told 247Sports that he is planning up to three more official visits. Other than Maryland and Indiana, two more schools are in the works of bringing in Queen for an official visit and possibly even a third. He's currently setting up officials with Arizona and Auburn with the dates still TBD and also said it's possible he could take one to Seton Hall. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/2024-5-star-Derik-Queen-setting-up-two-more-official-visits-Indiana-Maryland-Arizona-Auburn-194746861/

It may be too early to know what it means or if it has a legitimate chance of altering things, but Kansas’ decision to extend an offer to 2024 forward Derik Queen is certainly interesting. Now standing 6-foot-10, the Maryland native has also slimmed down over the past few months, leaving him quicker and leaner after dropping nearly 15 pounds. The fact that he’s added an inch of length and dropped some bad weight may have played into Kansas’ interest, and new offers may continue to arrive for Queen as he plays his junior season at Florida’s famed Montverde Academy. Maryland and Indiana are seen as the most heavily involved parties when it comes to Queen’s recruitment as things stand, but it feels like another wave of offers could arrive in the coming year for the reshaped big man, who will play a major role for a heavily scouted Montverde team this winter. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/recruiting-rumor-mill-buzz-surrounding-some-top-2024-prospects

"Coming off a terrific season with Montverde Academy, Derik Queen has a lot of momentum heading into the live period with Team Thrill. A 6-foot-9 true big man, Queen is as skilled as they come on the block and is expected to enforce his will throughout the weekend. As the college game is fresh off a season where big men were prevalent, Queen projects to be the next in line who could reach All-American status. Indiana and Maryland are very aware of this as both schools had him on campus last fall for official visits. Expect both Big Ten programs to be firmly in the mix come decision time." 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/LongFormArticle/UAA-Queen-Vyctorius-Grace-Jackson-Certa-Abaev-Bryson-Tiller-208652541/#208652541_1

"To no surprise, no player within the Under Armour Association was as dominant as Derik Queen was down low. The 6-foot-9, 220-pound skilled big man came into the weekend as one of the highest-ranked players on the circuit and unquestionably lived up to his high regard. Lately, Queen's recruitment has been headlined by Indiana and local suitor Maryland. Queen has visited both programs officially and the two schools make sure to check in with him on a daily basis. "They make conversation with me about how I am doing," Queen said on both programs. "They wish me good luck on my games and that is about it." In addition to the two Big Ten programs, Queen says Kansas, LSU, Providence, and West Virginia are schools he possibly would be interested in visiting. Additionally, Quannas White of Houston and Kenny Payne of Lousiville were at his games this past weekend." 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Derik-Queen-Maryland-Indiana-Kansas-West-Virginia-LSU-209031871/

Why is there a thread about this player? It does not sound as if the Hoyas are involved.

Not one person here cares what you would think.

I'm not sure Cooley would get involved with Queen, even if he is one of the best players in the DMV. Mainly, because he's obviously pursuing Sorber (and we got a crystal ball for Sorber). I doubt he'd want to weird out Sorber by now coming out to publicly go after Queen. Sounds like a good way to lose Sorber, while also coming in late on Queen.

Yeah, I don't really see them going after him unless Sorber fell through.

Look, I am not angry that this thread exists. But it would seem much more appropriate IF there is ANY indication that the Hoyas are pursing this young man. Otherwise, it comes across as weird at best.
