I'm currently having issues accessing the 2024 Recruiting thread, so will post updates on individual players in new threads until that gets rectified. "On3 just updated its 2024 national ratings, and I was a little surprised by where the 6-foot-9 Queen is now situated. Following its refresh, On3 has the Baltimore big man at four stars, No. 36 overall, No. 8 at power forward and No. 6 in Florida, where Queen plays prep-school ball. Another recruiting service, Rivals.com, also recently updated its national ratings for this class, and it dropped Queen 14 spots to No. 22 overall. Besides the ‘Cuse, Queen’s other offers include from Oklahoma State, Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, Auburn, DePaul, Maryland, Texas, Virginia Tech, Georgetown, LSU, Arizona State and Xavier." insidetheloudhouse.com/2022/07/06/syracuse-basketball-4-star-baltimore-big-man-takes-tumble-rankings/

One of the highest ranked prospects in the gym finished his summer season victorious. Top ten-ranked rising junior Derik Queen helped lead his Team Thrill squad to an Under Armour Championship this past weekend and he did so by playing to seize every opportunity on the floor. “I just wanted to play great throughout the time I am on the floor,” Queen said. “I just do not want to play well in certain portions of the game.” Since coaches have been allowed to contact players, Queen says Arizona, DePaul, Indiana, and Maryland are the schools pursuing him the hardest. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Derik-Queen-Maryland-DePaul-Arizona-Indiana-Basketball-Recruiting-190592005/

“I’m going to Arizona, Indiana and probably Maryland,” Queen said on Sunday. “Those are the ones I’m going to visit for sure but I don’t have any dates yet.” Maryland is seen as the slight early favorite to land Queen, who is originally from the Baltimore area and seems intrigued by the new staff at the in-state school. And while it’s much too early to make any concrete predictions about how Queen’s recruitment may end, The Terrapins are certainly making their case. “They’re trying to bring a winning program back and are going to try to have one of the best recruiting classes they’ve ever had,” Queen said. “They want me to be part of it.” basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/cassidy-s-takeaways-will-barton-elite-camp

Sounds like the Hoyas are not really involved here- why are we keeping up with this one?

Derik Queen’s upcoming official visit to Indiana feels like a big one given the larger context of the trip. Queen is intrigued by the Hoosiers, has a pair of former Montverde Academy teammates already on the roster and has long discussed his desire to visit campus. When Queen arrives this weekend, he’ll be greeted by a pair of familiar faces in former teammates Malik Reneau and Jalen Hood-Schifino. Indiana having that sort of weapon at its disposal seems important if the Hoosiers hope to topple perceived front-runner Maryland and others in the race to land Queen’s pledge. Officially, Queen remains wide open and those close to him say that the Montverde pipeline to Bloomington won’t play a part in the four-star forward’s eventual decision. Still, familiarity never hurts in a recruiting battle. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/recruiting-rumor-mill-visits-in-full-swing-across-the-country

This was posted 16 days ago on "HoyaReport" website - I know it can be hard to keep up sometimes, fellas. georgetown.rivals.com/news/balimore-s-queen-gets-gu-loveJust because we're losing the battle doesn't mean we're not recruiting him. Also, wasn't the whole point of hiring Nickleberry to land some local studs?

Thanks- I do not follow Hoya Report or any other website for Hoya recruiting news and do appreciate the information.
Still, this one sounds like a longshot. The battle to wins local recruits will be a long-term one for us. I am hopeful that we are putting in the work.

So he can later talk about how Ewing and Co aren't getting local recruits. As if any local 4*/5* kids are going to seriously consider GTown after the last few years. We should all know that local studs aren't coming until they see some on the court progress. Boya knows this but he'll still use not landing Queen, Hansberry, DHS etc as ammo..smh

I remain optimistic!!

I know you and other GTown Alum will hate to see/read this but GTown is in a much worse position than UMd. The Twerps are in the B10 and have more TV access, the Twerps aren't battling 10+yrs of negative media attention (we are still the school that gets upset in the tourney), the Twerps are a P5 school that has big boy football (this matters). GTown will have maybe 2 primetime games while the Twerps will have at least 5. But please even with these advantages Willard isn't getting the kids that I'm referring to. He's getting local kids that are equivalent to Denver. Solid, foundational core pieces. He's not getting Keels, Roach, Queen. Just like GTOWN he'll have to do more winning to get those level players to truly consider his school. Just like Ewing or whomever replaces him.
