"Top 15 sophomore Jordan Smith starts to emerge. In a program that is filled with proven seniors, Jordan Smith has quickly made a name for himself. The 6-foot-3 sophomore is already ranked top 15 in the class and backed that up this weekend. Smith might not posses the most size or length but he makes up for it with speed, quickness and overall athleticism. Defensively, Smith competed and is one of the top defenders on this Paul XI team, and in the class. Offensively he finished multiple second chance opportunities, had put back dunks and used his quickness to get to the rim. Georgetown head coach Ed Cooley was in attendance for Smith’s game and an assistant coach from Syracuse. Smith holds offers from Syracuse, Michigan, Villanova and others." 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/article/derek-dixon-malcolm-thomas-isaiah-abraham--227749076/

This kid Smith (who we apparently offered maybe when he was still an eighth grader) is something — on a team filled with somethings.

"Probably the most impressive team that we saw all day in the 15U division was Team Loaded. In particular, it was Loaded’s impressive collection of young big men including Latrell Allmond, Chase Foster, Kendre Harrison and Kosi Mgbejiofor... Maybe the most well-known of the group, Allmond is a skilled 6-foot-8 center who has good feet, great hands and some serious feel. He had a productive freshman season for one of the country’s top high school teams Richmond (Va.) John Marshall and in addition to A&M has already landed offers from others like Florida State, Georgia, Georgetown, LSU, NC State, Rutgers and VCU to name a few." 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/longformarticle/college-basketball-recruiting-class-of-2026-takes-center-stage-at-ncaa-basketball-academy-213170315/#2200637

Paul VI wins WCAC title 63-51. Soph guard/Hoya target Jordan Smith of Paul VI eye-popping agin for the champs. Numbers good but not gaudy (12 and 8) but great nose for the ball and hops/want to. Not to jinx kid with a comparison hard to fulfill, but does remind me a hair of Victor Oladipo (attended Dematha/saw him in the same tournament). Athleticism mesmerizes, but frankly this kid is more skilled than Victor was in high school…Paul VI will play at home Wednesday in the last local game of the year in the quarters of the VISAA tourney in case anyone wants to see for themselves (after they win that game will be in semis but those are in Petersburg VA and the Alhambra tourney that follows is in the sticks of MD).
Corrections and updates to the above post, from a reliable source: (1) the VISAA has changed locations of games such that Paul VI should be hosting a semi Friday (either St Anne’s-Belfield aka STAB or O’Connell, in all likelihood) and (2) no Alhambra tourney this year at all. Paul VI should however be playing again at something called “Chipotle Nationals” in Indiana in early April..

Paul VI did as expected last night in the VISAA quarters at home, beating Benedictine 90-56. Early in the game Paul VI looked a little careless and lasckadaisical, and the Paul VI coach pulled 4 of 5 starters— all except Jordan Smith (who had 8 points quick at the start). I “fear” he will be too good to even give us a second look (despite the name, which would seem destined for Carolina, bet he ends up in the Paul VI to Duke pipeline) but he is the kind of player we need to be all over —if for no other reason to show our respect to the local scene/wave the flag and get in the conversation for other players. And if for whatever reason we actually land a kid like this, it’s a game changer…

As a public service figured I’d post this here. Today’s full schedule at McDonough for the DC tourney semis looks to be:
3pm — Sidwell vs Carroll (girls) 5pm — Jackson Reed vs St. John’s College Prep (boys) 7pm — St. John’s CP vs Maret (girls) 9pm — Gonzaga vs Sidwell (boys)
Think the last two games are the 1 vs 4 games

"Sebastian Wilkins can vividly recall watching elite high school stars like Sharife Cooper, Cade Cunningham, Jalen Green and Jaden Ivey lace ‘em up at the Hoophall Classic on television, daydreaming about being in that position in the coming years. “Being from Massachusetts, the Hoophall is a really big deal,” Wilkins said. “This is the one everybody wants to play in, so to be able to have the chance to play in it was big for me.”... West Virginia, Rutgers, Providence and UMass have already extended offers while St. John’s, Georgetown, Virginia and Texas A&M have all expressed interest." basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/four-star-sophomore-sebastian-wilkins-developing-on-all-levels"4-star F Sebastian Wilkins, Brewster Academy (2026) is productive, it is as simple as that. He has a good frame with a nice length and a nose for the ball. He knocked down a three in this one, off the catch, and he finished well around the basket. The scoring bag will need to continue developing, but he continues to string together good performances." www.on3.com/news/pete-hollis-showcase-day-2-top-performers/

Figure if Johnson is the new Assistant. You have a pretty good shot at 14 & 16 on this list.

Figure if Johnson is the new Assistant. You have a pretty good shot at 14 & 16 on this list. When was Johnson last involved in local DMV AAU hoops? He just signed the TTO PG to URI this year (see 2024 recruit thread) and a SF from Baltimore. URI fans are worried both are gone if/when he leaves.

Figure if Johnson is the new Assistant. You have a pretty good shot at 14 & 16 on this list. When was Johnson last involved in local DMV AAU hoops? Directly involved, before 2011. He has stayed very close to TTO even while coaching. He started as an assistant at Towson in 2011. He often has a TakeOver player on the teams he is working with. He is often around TTO teams playing in recruiting tournaments.
