No emotion here. It’s nothing to do with Improving Georgetown basketball and all about a vendetta against Patrick Ewing.

Dylan Painter left Villanova without bitterness. He was not disgruntled. He just wanted to play more. “We're really proud of him here,” Villanova basketball coach Jay Wright said about the University of Delaware player.Mar 15, 2022 Apparently, grammar wasn't one of the things he learned.

Isn't Mike Francesa retired? Patrick Ewing should be retired too. He can blame the evolution of the coaching landscape and NIL for all I care, the important part is to retire. I’d prefer a more humiliating end, one bad enough that he never shows his face in public again. I think that says more about you than anything related to Patrick or Georgetown.

Yes, it says that I think people who have shown no grace or humility as they have been spectacular failures do not deserve an easy exit. I hope his arrogance comes back to hurt him when it all eventually ends.

I mean, I know that his record in terms of W/L's has not been what we would want to see at Georgetown... But is there something else that I am missing? What has be done that I should be factoring into my support of or nonsupport of Ewing beside W/L's?

When asked Monday on the College Hoops Today Podcast if he could ever see himself coaching at another college program other than Villanova, Wright gave the following emphatic response: “Definitely not. I’m committed to Villanova and working with Father Peter Donohue — our President — outside of basketball with the athletic department, with our capital campaign. These are new things for me that are exciting. I want to keep Villanova strong — I wouldn’t want to do that (coaching) at another university.”
I believe him. Coaches go back on their word all the time, but for whatever reason, I don’t think Wright is the type of guy to do that. If he does go anywhere else, maybe he gets bored and misses the game of basketball, then does the NBA jump, but there might be a shelf life on that. I’d think he has to do that in 3-4 years or else his name comes off most GM and owner wish lists.
The Sixers make a lot of sense if Doc Rivers can’t get this team over the hump, but I’d honestly love to see what he can do with a young team like the Pistons, Magic, Rockets, or Thunder. Walk into a job where you’re coaching hungry 22 year olds and not the big egos.

I could see him take an advisory job on another coaches staff far in the future if he gets bored but I agree that he's not going to go against his word and is happy taking a step back and focusing on the schmoozing only.
