Shocked. Just shocked. No matter how much freedom, how many financial opportunities - players will want more, programs will offer more, rules will mean little or nothing. Exactly. None of this is surprising. This is a direct consequence of allowing transfers without having to sit a year. It’s good for player freedom but bad in just about every other respect. Dickhead V is only upset because now everyone can cheat openly which decreases secret cheaters like Chocula’s advantage…

I can't see how any of the onus of this mess can be placed on the players.. I'm not a fan of the transfer exemption rule but the players didn't create it

What are the rules. It seems different for every player. Some players have transferred every year, another player has to sit out a year, another gets to play right away, another has to sit out a semester, transfer in the middle of the season, etc. Unless it's for hardship - you should sit out for some time at least. I can also understand not wanting to play for a new coach, etc. NCAA is all over the place with no consistency. Also, what about a team that has just been banned from post-season play for NCAA violations.

Just saying that no matter how the rules may change/loosen, there will always be some coaches and programs breaking the new rules, and some players who are more than open to reaping the benefits.

The only possible rule being broken now is "tampering" which is funny considering programs have no issue pushing kids out for new recruits each year. Where's Vitale's outrage about that been? The transparency of the NIL has opened kids eyes to what's out there for them, I can't be mad at them for leveraging their options

It’s very clear that DeGioia is running with the wrong crowd if we hope to have success in men’s basketball. Love Tagliabue and appreciate what he’s done for the university. It would be nice if we had people aged 60 or less actually making decisions. As an alum, I’m sad and embarrassed by this whole situation. Wholesale changes are necessary. In the meantime, $0 will be going from me to the men’s basketball program, for the first time since the early-2000s. Kudos to Aidan for his continued efforts exposing the truth through articles like these.

LOL at all the people who thought Georgetown would compete in NIL. Our major focus seems to be gatekeeping and making sure Oscar Tshiebwe and possibly our own soccer team aren't able to get NIL deals.

Please don’t take this as political, but why is Madame Speaker in attendance? I mean, other than to be lobbied by Tagliabue.
I like Trinity women just fine, but . . .

Please don’t take this as political, but why is Madame Speaker in attendance? . She is a Georgetown parent, married to an alumnus, a previous honorary degree recipient and was among 12 people recognized at Saturday’s dinner. Shorter answer: she has lifelong connections to Georgetown.

Kudos to Aidan and Hilltop Hoops for these articles giving everyone a closer look at the failure that is Georgetown Basketball right now! What’s up with Thompson’s Towel? I was looking forward to these current students’ perspectives. It’s like they ran out of gas with all the losing. The Georgetown Voice? The Hoya? casualhoya, we need more pressure from you.

Quite the contrary, GU can not afford to lose the support of its alumni.

Personally wouldn't shock me if TT got told to shut up by someone at the university when asking for an interview or opinion on the program. It is truly disgusting that they would intimidate students away from pushing for answers and solutions to not get blacklisted

Terribly frustrating to read, sigh.. So much for "evaluating every aspect of the program and making the necessary changes to get back on top" If they only knew "operating differently" hasn't worked out very well lately

"operating differently" = being stuck in the 1980s and the mindset that you basically hire a coach for life (they just can't say they are "coach for life"), pay them top of the market salary so they don't leave (even if they have nowhere else to go), and ignore the fans
The whole "operating differently" culture has to change before this program works again.

Seems to me that Kevin Nickelberry is in for a rude awakening once he gets settled in at GU. How is this team going to get any good transfer with the poor NIL infrastructure set up? Nickelberry may have great relationships but those won’t do much if GU can’t offer some better NIL options to compete with other schools. This is concerning.
