Pile on the embarrassment. GU is playing checkers while the rest of the BE is playing chess.

But, we hired Nickelberry who will bring in all of the LSU studs and DMV studs so it’s all good. I think it’s going to be a lot harder than expected and you still have Ewing ultimately running the show. Without true change, just hoping for miracles.

I wish someone could explain why those guys would come here.

It’s gross malpractice that the university with the most resources and prestige / brand has the worst coach (by far) in the league. And yet we pay him as if he’s on Wright’s level. If GU was a company, the person in charge would be on the street yesterday for mishandling it’s highest paid role this badly.

Totally agree. Shame on DeGioia. This is a disgrace. Ewing should not have been hired, nor extended. Georgetown basketball, which I love, is an embarrassment, is no longer the least bit relevant in college sports. What a joke!

If GU was a company, the person in charge would be on the street yesterday for so badly mishandling it’s highest paid role this badly. It’s so bad that there might be fraud charges brought against the people making this decision.

This is the type of attention that may eventually get the administration to make a move. The program is being mocked publicly at this point. The current state of affairs is indefensible and anyone trying to defend it clearly values Thompson University over Georgetown University.

Can Val threaten to kick us out (which would be totally valid considering that we said that 0-20 is fine)? At least in basketball? Maybe that can get the people upstairs to wake up

I know the school is a lot larger than basketball, but the money spent on basketball for 12 kids and a handful of coaches/staffers dwarfs anything else going on at the school on a per capita basis. I fear this is more than a financial thing, as surely a few wealthy donors could help in the buyout if they were compelled to, but there appears to be a conscious push by the powers to be to keep the current regime (Ewing & Ronny) in their seats.

Georgetown's Board of Directors have fiduciary duties owed to the university. No doubt the Directors have D & O insurance policies to protect themselves. Trustees [Directors at Georgetown] are fiduciaries, a legal term meaning an individual who has placed the utmost trust and confidence to manage and protect property or money. Fiduciaries have an obligation to act for another’s benefit (in this case, the University). Fiduciary duties must be taken very seriously because if these duties are not fulfilled, trustees can be held personally responsible and legally liable for the university’s missteps. changinghighered.com/colleges-and-universities-governance-crisis/

Now you are making accusations that someone will be charge with fraud. Lmao!

No, if this were a business that was actually held accountable by stakeholders, this incredible mismanagement might very well be subject to fraud claims. It’s hard to explain this any other way. But, it’s GU so this will keep going and people like you will continue to cheerlead for these morons.

One can certainly question their approach to the b'ball program and knowledge of the current game, but is it the Hoya way to call them morons? And I don't believe that saying that makes me some kind of toady.

It was so bad and so unnecessary, I don’t know what else to call it.

Boards are usually comprised of rich old people who like mingling with their kind and crave status. They don’t really like to get their hands dirty and make difficult decisions.

Although I agree with all of it, I believe Marquette has the most resources in BE. I may be wrong but I believe I saw they are in the top 10 in the country and most in BE. Point still stand though.
