Boals’ buyout drops today. Despite the rant by the guy two comments up, it appears Butler did not lose out on anyone that they were interested in.

The rant had nothing to do with Butler's potential replacements and everything to do with the past staff's treatment. Maybe they can get lucky and find the next Brad Stevens....

He raised a couple of points about the treatment of the outgoing staff but also contended that Butler’s delay had “hampered” any incoming staff. He claimed the whole thing was “badly mismanaged.”

Damn! Butler couldn’t hire its best player ever with no experience as a college basketball coach and who then would suck for five years and counting, all while paying him a ton? Only at Georgetown. For reference, here is Pat’s record vs.: Wright (Villanova): 2-9 (home 1-4, away 0-5, neutral 1-0) McDermott (Creighton): 3-8 (h 1-4, a 1-4, n 1-0) Cooley (Providence): 3-6 (h 2-3, a 1-3) Hurley (UConn): 0-4 (h 0-2, a 0-2) Jordan (Butler): 4-6 (h 1-4, a 3-2) - fired Matta (Butler): 0-0Leitao (DePaul): 4-3 (h 2-1, a 2-2) - fired Stubblefield (DePaul): 0-2 (h 0-1, a 0-1) Wojciechowski (Marquette) 2-6 (h 0-4, a 1-2, n 1-0) - fired Smart (Marquette): 0-2 (h 0-1, a 0-1) Willard (Seton Hall): 4-9 (h 3-2, a 0-5, n 1-2) - gone Holloway (Seton Hall): 0-0Mullin (SJU): 3-2 (h 1-1, a 2-0, n 0-1) - fired Anderson (SJU): 3-4 (h 2-1, a 1-2, n 0-1) Mack (Xavier): 0-2 (h 0-1, a 0-1) - gone Steele (Xavier): 2-4 (h 2-1, a 0-3) - fired Miller (Xavier): 0-0

Matta, assuming he is healthy is a great choice for head coach. The Big East has seen some significant talent head coaching upgrades this offseason.

Geesh...talk about retread. Is this what "hoya supporters" want? A proven commodity who’s been to 3 elite eights and 2 final fours? Yea I would have been down for that

Geesh...talk about retread. Is this what "hoya supporters" want? A proven commodity who’s been to 3 elite eights and 2 final fours? Yea I would have been down for that It's telling that all of the departing coaches in the Big East have outperformed Ewing by many degrees. Essentially, we could hire the guys getting fired and have a pretty good upgrade on Day 1. Matta was a high-level coach until he got ill and declined in performance leading into 2017. If he is healthy (and indications are he's doing better), he is a fantastic choice for Butler. Clearly, Butler had a plan and executed it to upgrade their program. It would be nice if Georgetown showed that foresight.

Geesh...talk about retread. Is this what "hoya supporters" want? 8 of the 11 coaches in the conference have made a sweet 16. 6 an elite 8. Cooley just won national coach of the year. Wright just took Nova to another F4. And our coach has the worst 5 year record in modern Georgetown history. So yes, this is exactly what this "hoya supporter" wants.
