Do you mean 05-06? With Cook and Bowman? I do believe that team was FF4 worthy the way they were playing in the tourney.

And DJ had that wide-open three but missed...

Actually we had good chances in 2006 ( Lost Minneapolis Region Semifinal vs. #11 Florida (Noah), 53–57) (the phantom call I mentioned earlier) and 2007 (final four) Lost to #1 Ohio state (Oden) 67-60.

UConn is gonna need to reload. Martin, Polley, Diggins, Cole, Gaffney, and Whaley.
That gives you Akok, Hawkins, Sanogo & Jackson back and then no guards. I am sure they will be just fine but that is a lot of turnover.

That's a solid team but it doesn't scare you at all...same with NOVA, Provy, X, StJs and SH....we just have to survive the portal season without losing any of the Big 4 and we will be competitive in the BE...

This sounds like the narrative last year we’d be as good or better than Creighton and Marquette…

Tough blow for Depaul losing Mintz to Cuse. That one seemed locked up awhile ago.

Xavier wins the NIT. Wonder how many players will be back with Miller back coaching. I would think Hayes is gone for a HC job but Miller already said he has a spot if he wants to stay.

While I can't root for Nova, it would be a feather in the cap of the BE if it wins and BE sweeps the NCAAM bball championships.

Sorry anybody but Nova or NC - they both kept us from having 3 championships.

Glad you posted/remembered this about Fisher; was a great story all around, both pre and post the rather magical NCAA tourney run in '89 (in which, rather coincidentally, Michigan beat Seton Hall in the final). Fun fact: the college Fisher played for -- very obscure (unless you're from Illinois) Illinois State -- a few years later had Doug Collins as a player (father of Chris Collins, but of course Doug QUITE the story himself). AND while not mentioned in the wiki entry, Coach Steve was a high school coach and gym teacher (as was his wife Angie) at a small, now defunct high school in the South suburbs of Chicago (Rich East/Park Forest Illinois) before embarking on his college career. Super nice fellow who tolerated very unathletic kids with a genteel charm (says an alum of of one of his gym classes).
