Anyone want to guess at a line? I’m thinking -5 or so?

The games in Bloomington can't have any fans that aren't family.

I’ve been looking over the stats. Others have touched on it, but I think the key to success here is defense. The overall stats look relatively similar. The biggest advantage we have is our rebounding. When we rebound well, we generally win or have a strong chance to win. I think that will hold true here. If we can bring the same defensive intensity we had in New York, I like our odds. Also, I think keeping them away from the free throw line will matter. They seem to hit their free throws pretty well.
All in all, interesting matchup. I don’t watch much PAC-12 basketball and really didn’t watch any matchups out there this year. I’m sure Ewing will have the team ready. I just hope they’re ready for the stage. It’ll be a new experience. I can’t wait!

Colorado fans’ distilled reaction:
As others have noted, they were a sub-500 team that just got hot in the conference tourney. FSU in the 2nd round is tough draw, very talented team.

Keep doing what we've been doing. Play defense, share the ball, take care of the ball, REBOUND and most importantly play with intensity. When we don't play with urgency, we aren't very good. Ewing will have the boys ready!

McKinley Wright IV is going to be a hand full for Dante. We haven't faced a pg like him this year.

They were 22-8 overall and 14-6 in Pac12 and #3 seed in the Pac12 tourney. Oregon State was the .500 in Pac12 and got hot in the tourney and knocked on Colorado. Watching highlights Georgetown length and defense could be a challenge for them. They had a tough loss early to Tennesee who used physicality, defense, and outside shooting to make it an ugly game. I think a big factor could be refs as Colorado is a little more physical inside, but don't have much length, and not much speed other than Wright who is a really good passing point guard, but not too different than thee top BigEast PGs Dante has kept quiet. Georgetown (and Big East) play far more physically than Pac12 and if the ref call and BigEast type game this will help Georgetown. If ref call a finesse Pac12 game there could be foul trouble.

A few quick thoughts on the analytics. KenPom has Colorado 17th overall. 17th best offense, 29th best defense. They play a very slow tempo - ranked 280th out of 357. They are particularly slow on the defensive end, but that generally indicates quality defense.
- Colorado shoots well from three (36.7%, ranked 48th).
- Colorado is amazing at the free throw line. 82.2%, which is second best in the country.
- Colorado shoots 50.4% from two, which is about middle of the back.
- Colorado holds onto the ball really well. They do not have a high turnover rate. They are pretty good - though by no means elite, at forcing turnovers on defense. They are especially goo at avoiding steals on offense, but they don't steal it much on defense.
- Colorado allows opposing teams to take a lot of threes, generally.
- Colorado has a ton of efficient guys on offense. So, our defense will need to be strong.
Their PG, McKinley Wright is super efficient, 119 O rating, and 54.2% from two (not really a good three point shooter, though). Very high assist rate. Horne is very efficient, too, and an excellent defensive rebounder.
This is by no means an easy matchup, but it's also not impossible. If we play like we did against Creighton, we can win.

First reactions, will have to watch game highlights to get a sense of actual scheme but on paper I think there's a decent amount to like: - You'd want their best offensive player to either be PG or PF to line up w Dante or Pickett as best defenders instead of dealing with like a 6'5 wing. Enter McKinley Wright. Just from following NBA stuff his name gets mentioned but he's the engine of their offense, go to work Dante
- Slow pace, not a team that presses and forces a ton of turnovers. So we can try and push pace if we want to get them uncomfortable, or we can play slow and conserve energy and save bench
- No center who is a big perimeter threat to stretch out Q. Walton is 8-18, which is something but clearly not a huge part of his game. Curious to see what they do when he's off the court because he's the only guy over 6'8 and he hasn't played more than 20 min in a game all season.
- Yes they're a good FT shooting team % wise, but they don't get to the line a ton so that mitigates the concern a bit.
- Low in blocked shots so not expecting a ton of rim protection
So as others have mentioned, between Tennessee and Colorado I think this was preferred. Personally I wanted no part of a Florida St draw (in my mind they're UConn on steroids) but will cross that bridge later on. Would think the spread starts at 5 and gets bet down as we'll be trendy.
And I even can get behind the Saturday to get some extra rest after the 4 in 4 days.
Don't fall into the hype, come out focused, take care of business.

Watched half of a game already of Colorado and the main problem I see them giving us is that they are all a bunch of 6-6 to 6-7 athletes because the 6-7 center who is more girth than length. They challenge a bunch of shots but no rim protection and they can be had on the boards.

They play Evan Battey. He's undersized but he can score it down there.

We're the hot 12-5 "upset" team this year on every bracket. Colorado is a very beatable team. They're not particularly tough. Should be able to come in and punch them in the mouth on D. What worries me is that we don’t get punch-them-in-the-mouth refs.

They have a 7’0” Dallas Walton who plays 34% of possessions of recent games.
He is the only player taller than 6’8”.
