FWIW - I condemn all who broke into the Capitol, assaulted guards or policemen, or stole or damaged property. I hope this inquiry will shed light on what happened and who contributed to it. The testimony today was gripping. Off to a good start, just hope partisanship on both sides doesn't taint its findings.

After listening to the testimony of the Capitol and Metro police, I cannot imagine anybody voting for Trump again. Many millions of "patriots" say hello. They will continue to rely on the alternative facts spewed out by the Fake News Network, OAN and Newsmax.

Incoherent, flailing, corrupt MAGA "Republicans". The seeming disinterest in learning the details of an attack prompted by their party’s president that featured calls to find and hang the vice president was all the more bracing given the dramatic testimony from the four police officers about the threat posed by attackers they cast as “terrorists” seeking to overthrow democracy. But their reasoning has vacillated between warnings that it would be too partisan, to it would impede law enforcement investigations, to it should also look into violence at racial justice protests in several cities last summer. The struggle to explain their near-blanket opposition to having Congress examine the causes and ramification of the insurrection, has left the party open to charges that it is avoiding a thorough investigation of the worst attack on the Capitol since the War of 1812 because of its ties to Trump’s false claims about the election and the political damage that could reap in the 2022 midterm elections. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/january-6-republicans-trump/2021/07/27/79a29e38-eef4-11eb-bf80-e3877d9c5f06_story.html?itid=hp-top-table-main

Happy I was wrong on the Westfall Act substitution issue. Enjoy paying your own legal fees moron - probably from his campaign funds so your moron constituents are actually paying for it. A Republican congressman's Jan. 6 speech at a rally ahead of the riot at the U.S. Capitol is not covered by protections for members of Congress and federal employees, the Justice Department said in a court filing Tuesday — drawing a legal line over attempts to stop the certification of the 2020 election results. Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) had argued that he is effectively immune from a lawsuit filed by his colleague Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) that accused Brooks, then-President Donald Trump, and others of fomenting the failed attack on Congress. www.washingtonpost.com/local/legal-issues/mo-brooks-swalwell-lawsuit-trump/2021/07/27/de10122a-ee3a-11eb-bf80-e3877d9c5f06_story.html

Proud to call yourself a "Republican"? The half-dozen lawmakers, including Matt Gaetz of Florida and Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, made explicit what has become more obvious by the day: Republicans stand with those who attempted a violent coup on Jan. 6. And it’s not just the wingnuts. House Republican leaders held a news conference before the hearing, blaming Jan. 6 not on seditionists but on Capitol Police and, particularly, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/07/27/jan-6-hearings-begin-republicans-side-with-terrorists/

Chances are, if you're standing with Gohmert on something, you're both wrong and in need of your walking papers. This is, yet, another example of that axiomatic fact.

Subpoena all the GOP traitors. When they refuse to comply, refer the traitors to the US Attorney's Office in DC for a criminal contempt prosecution. Then have the Sargeant-at-arms and Capitol Police (oh, the irony) arrest them if they refuse to comply and incarcerate them in the DC Jail with their fellow insurrectionists. Let them rot. “The House rules say that members shall reflect credibly on the House,” Brand said. “I’m sure that somebody could formulate a theory that says you’re duty bound to respond to a subpoena.” www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2021/07/31/january-6-committee-witnesses/

MAGA Republicans have a facility to deny the facts that are right in their faces. Aside from his verbal incitement on 1/6, beginning long before his 1/6 rant, the sociopath has urged his insurrectionists on. I say follow the $$$. The Select Committee should investigate whether any of the sociopath's $$$, whether directly or indirectly, funded the insurrectionists travel to the Capitol, On President Donald Trump’s final full day in office, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell blamed him by name for the riot that occurred at the US Capitol on January 6. “The mob was fed lies. They were provoked by the president and other powerful people, and they tried to use fear and violence to stop a specific proceeding of the first branch of the federal government which they did not like,” McConnell said Tuesday on the Senate floor House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy called on President Donald Trump to “accept his share of responsibility” for the violence that overtook the U.S. Capitol last week and urged Republicans to accept that Joe Biden is the next leader of the nation. “The president bears responsibility for Wednesday's attack on Congress by mob rioters,” McCarthy said on the House floor. “He should have immediately denounced the mob when he saw what was unfolding. These facts require immediate action by President Trump." -- Moron McCarthy, Jan. 13, 2021

Is there really any question who contributed to it? As on cue. If you don't want responses, don't post. It's fairly straightforward. It's odd how silent you are when asked direct questions but when the silliness of your posts is pointed out, that makes you all touchy. We all know who contributed to 1/6, yourself included. Sure, a real investigation could uncover additional contributors but every single one of us knows who the main instigator was (and, FWIW, continues to be).

Now they have the completely appalling and dishonest narrative that Pelosi rejected the likes of Jim Jordan because she has something to hide. So, let’s get this straight: the party that pushed for and voted for a bipartisan commission is hiding something while the party that rejected and voted against that very same commission just wants the truth to come out. And somehow, the the rank and file Republicans have bought into it. There is no bottom to the dishonesty of the GOP “leadership” and the idiocy of the GOP base. The con job is so obvious; it’s baffling how these people continue to fall for it.

I can only assume at this point that Republicans would be all for people who are accused of crimes being able to sit on the juries for their own trials. Law and order party.

Be careful, guys. The snowflake MAGA Republicans here may accuse you of the dreaded Rule 3 violation! 😁
Their inability to respond in any substantive manner demostrates the emptiness of their cult/party.

G-d fearing White nationalist Christian?
Glenn Allen Brooks was arrested Friday for his alleged involvement with the Capitol riot on January 6. Brooks texted selfies of himself inside the Capitol to a chat group full of church prayer members. One of the group members then tipped off the FBI.
The FBI arrested a California man after receiving a tip of his involvement in the January 6 Capitol riot from a church prayer group member.
Glenn Allen Brooks "boasted of his active participation" in the riot and "sent photos of his attendance" to a text chat group full of church prayer members, a criminal complaint says.
A member of the group – who was not identified in the complaint — provided that information to the FBI, leading to Brooks' arrest on Thursday.
Brooks on the day of the riot texted the group "a selfie photo of himself inside the Capitol," the complaint, dated July 27, says. Weeks later, the unnamed group member passed it along to officials investigating the insurrection. -- Business Insider, July 31, 2021.

Look the mods have a hard time trying to allow dialogues to occur without jumping in and invoking name calling all the time. I think Dan does a great job not jumping in too frequently so when he says hey knock it off, it is justified. I see little benefit from baiting Dan or the other mods to jump in. I have read about 20 posts asking the republicans on the board to comment and while I only find 10% of what Easy Ed says correct, his return answered that call and furthers the understanding of how people from different perspectives can have different views. That is not a bad thing.

They were right to flag my post. It was over the line. That said, it's a fine line between name calling and accurate descriptors.

Nothing but the finest legal representation for the insurrectionists. The best you can say is that he's no Rudy . . . Before his turn as one of a top lawyer for Trump supporters in legal trouble, Pierce ran an up-and-coming law firm. But his firm dissolved amid his personal problems, including a more than $800,000 tax debt to the IRS and what he’s described as substance abuse issues. www.thedailybeast.com/john-pierce-repped-kyle-rittenhouse-maga-monkey-owners-and-capitol-rioters
