I definitely see Carey starting. I think Carey will be a team leader and will start, along as he is healthy all year. I think Riley will get a lot of minutes coming in for both Carey and Aminu and will add some elite athleticism and offensive punch off the bench.

Sometimes you got to have both Aminu and Riley on the floor at the same time to take advantage of their abilities to get to the hoop. Double threat! Can't wait til' Anglin gets here so that we can see Anglin, Aminu and Riley on the court at the same time (provided Aminu and Riley don't declare for the draft after next year). That is going to be so much fun!

56. Georgetown 1 - Dante Harris, Jalen Harris, Tyler Beard 2 - Donald Carey, Kaden Rice, Jordan Riley 3 - Aminu Mohammed, Kobe Clark, Collin Holloway 4 - Tre King, Jalin Billingsley 5 - Ryan Mutumbo, Timothy Ighoefe, Malcolm Wilson
Georgetown will have a chance to out-play this ranking. Mohammed is a bona fide five-star wing — athletic as all get-out, aggressive, and with a solid shooting stroke to go along with his finishing, passing and defensive ability — and Ryan Mutumbo, son of the Georgetown Legend, Dikembe, should be able to step in and at least imitate, if not replicate, the production of the departed Qudus Wahab (Maryland). Ryan Mutumbo still needs a year or two before he really takes off, but he is long, tough-minded, and a good shot-blocker. Mutumbo’s offensive game is far more modern than his father’s, as he can pass and has a perimeter jump shot in addition to some ability in the post. King, a transfer from Eastern Kentucky, and returners Harris and Carey (who really stretches the floor) should pace the offense when the freshmen hit their stumbling blocks. The Hoyas will have a chance to make another run into the NCAA Tournament if everyone gels quickly.

From what I understand, the center position is wide open.

So Jalen Harris is still on the roster. Ok. Georgetown hasn't released its official roster yet (to my knowledge). I think this is probably just a mistake on the part of the author. If he is on the team, I would expect he should get very little playing time given our strong guards, and the fact that Dante Harris was better last year.

What I want from the Georgetown Lineups next year can best be summed up by the legendary “CLUBBER LANG”…..”PAIN” !
Don’t care who starts, don’t care who finishes…i want to watch every game & know that the jumpers may not fall & victory may elude us but that every opponent will know they faced GEORGETOWN……& that would mean SOMETHING.
1) opponents get no easy breezy forays through the lane. 2) tough in your jock on ball defense. 3) relentless hustle.
My brother and I were at MSG in 1988 (year after Reggie & year before Alonzo) watching Hoyas play a stacked St. John’s team. Down 7-9 points with less than 15 seconds left Jaren Jackson went flying over the scorer’s table to try and save a loose ball. Future NBA champion risked his physical safety playing relentlessly. Hoyas lost but I left energized.
I believe GEORGETOWN BASKETBALL returns this season.

I think this year more than any, Ewing is going to finish a game with the guys that are locked in and playing well at that point of the game …..with little regard to seniority, who started and who didn’t, etc..

Yes but a good writer or reporter would come on the teams forum and do some homework. Not hard and good intel that is accessible to anyone (assuming no paywall). I can't remember who it was (maybe Bilas) would do that.

The only pushback you get from me is that I believe GTown bball came back the 2nd half of last year. Every team felt our defensive presence from the tip. Except Colorado. UCONN was a tough matchup but I don't think we laid down for them. The boys showed toughness last year and I don't think Dante will let them play soft this coming year.

I'd like to see more of what the big guys are working on in drills. We need the vets to take a major step forward in their play. We got a tid bit of Malcolm and Tim, but not enough. Are they going strong against each other, practicing, 1:1, 2:2 and 3:3 ?

Is anyone seeing anything about the big fellas? I have confidence in our corps of guards and small forwards. I think on the face of it Tim starts.
So: starters-- Dante, Carey,Mohammed, King, Igoeffe
2nd Corps: Beard, Rice, Kobe, Billingsley and Wilson
Mutombo will have to prove himself and earn his playing time. Which is the way it should be. I refer to Coach Crouch, who will demonstrate the traits needed to play? Who wants it enough?
To me the big question marks are Malcolm and Ryan.
What say ye?

I would like to see Pat adapt a bit from always having a center in. You could swap out Riley/Aminu with Rice/Billingsley/Clark/Holloway. If Mutombo can shoot I would even throw him into this mix. At the end of the day, with the talent level going up we should be able to mix and match much more. If your starters are accurate, then 2nd line would be: Beard, Riley, Rice, Mutombo, Holloway/Clark.

That sounded good. My post is pure speculation. Im just trying to gather some intelligence, for myself. So happy these guys are getting to know each other. And looking for a leap from Wilson!

My biggest question is like most people’s about the center position because if Tim can make a jump since he had a proper off season then great Dante, Carey, Aminu, king, tim
If not then that sucks and where they are off the top of my head i can’t see Wilson or Ryan ready to be a BE starters (at least on a tournament team) we will probably see this lineup more if Ewing has to adapt: Dante, Carey, Aminu, Rice, King, either way I would be shocked if we didn’t see this lineup at times or at least someone else for Rice bc we still need to know if he can be strong defensively against other 3/4s

That 1st five seems like the safe bet to begin the year. Bench: - No Riley in there -- he'll definitely be in the rotation. - One of Clark/Holloway/Billingsley has to emerge as our "backup 4". I have a feeling we'll see 4 guards/wings sometimes - so they'd be passed up anyways - but a role is still there for one of those guys to take. - Assuming we have 3 not-quite-ready-to-be-starter level Centers... I think you're right to pencil Tim in there b/c of his strength & experience. Mutombo separates himself as the backup (& maybe ultimately the starter?) because of his offense. If Malcolm's hands can catch up to his basic athleticism, he'd be in a better position to carve out a role as a disruptor/JYD type. As of right now (end of last season), I think his effectiveness is overlapped by Tim's -- just in a slighter build.

Starters: Dante, DC, Aminu, King and Wilson 2nd string: Beard/DC, Riley, Clark/Rice, Bills, Iggy
Ryan and the loser of Clark/Rice will get decent minutes.
By late December I think it will look something like this:
Starters: Dante, Riley, Aminu, King and Mutumbo 2nd string: Beard, DC, Clark/Rice, Bills, Wilson
Iggy will get spot minutes; the loser of Clark/Rice will get decent minutes.
