Is anyone seeing anything about the big fellas? I have confidence in our corps of guards and small forwards. I think on the face of it Tim starts. So: starters-- Dante, Carey,Mohammed, King, Igoeffe 2nd Corps: Beard, Rice, Kobe, Billingsley and Wilson Mutombo will have to prove himself and earn his playing time. Which is the way it should be. I refer to Coach Crouch, who will demonstrate the traits needed to play? Who wants it enough? To me the big question marks are Malcolm and Ryan. What say ye? I love your starting lineup except, I could either have Carey starting or swap him out for Riley. In the case of the latter, I would have Carey coming off the bench to play 6th man. Carey would get a lot of time and so it is almost like he is a starter. Also in that case, I have Riley and Aminu, two of our most potent weapons on the court at the same time. In that case, I would have two dangerous slashers attacking the basket and keeping the defense off balance. So I like your starting lineup but I think we could be more effective if we get Carey coming off the bench and having a more athletic Riley and Aminu on the floor at the same time attacking the basket wreaking havoc.

It will be interesting to see day 1 lineup vs Early December or start of league play. If Riley starts day 1 then I am very hopeful for the team because that means Aminu, riley, and Dante have sufficient 3 point shooting abilities and Carey could be a great stabilizing influence off the bench which you need if a young team gets rattled like you said basically getting starter minutes, the front court is the biggest puzzle by far and I would be thrilled if Ryan starts later in the season

Somehow, I think we're in good shape. It will be interesting to see what Coach does with his team.

I agree with your projected starters, especially to start the season. Harris and Mohammed are locks and one or both of King and Ighoefe will be in the lineup. I'm of the mindset that Tim will be the 5 and Tre the 4. That leaves the 2-guard, which I think goes to Carey to start the year. I think that lineup nicely blends leadership, experience, attacking/slashing, shooting, size, and speed. 2nd string (staggered, of course), I think goes to Beard, Riley, Rice, and Mutombo. Collin or Kobe come in at the other forward depending on the need/opponent. If Riley is as promising as I am hearing, I could see him growing into the starting lineup later in the season with Carey moving to a 6th man role and anchoring/stabilizing the second unit. Coach could prep his starting back court for 21-22 with Harris and Riley. I could also see Coach experimenting with King at the 5 and some combination of Harris, Beard, Carey, Riley and Aminu 1-"4". Similar to what Creighton ran last year with a 6'7" center and everyone else 6'5" or less, they sacrificed size to create mismatches/run n' gun. This "experiment" may or may not find the same success with the Hoyas, but I could see Coach giving it a shot and I think it'd be fun to watch.

I'd bet a nice chunk of change that Rice gets 20+ per game this season, Coach E loves guys who "have been in the wars" On edit - I meant 20+ minutes per game...

While I'm hoping Rice is a productive scorer, you'd probably lose that bet. 20 per would have led the BE in scoring last year. GU's leading scorer was Blair with 15.8 If Rice, or anybody, averages more than 14 points per game, he'll probably be BE top ten this coming season. Now, 3 or 4 individual BE contests with 20+ would be a more realistic goal, and would be really nice.

Cool. 20 minutes I can see happening. 20 minute with 12+ points and a few 20+ point games I can see happening. From your mouth to God's ear.

I watched the video interview with Tre King. He sounds like he has the skills and motivation to be our power fotward with an inside, outside game. He's got two years of eligibility. Maybe Billingsley can learn somethings from him given that coach wants him to be a leader. I would definitely pencil him as a starter.

Dante, Riley, Aminu, King, Tim
I am optimistic and I think this line up would indicate that we are in for a very solid season

But considering it a starting point for a very flexible game-to-game rotation. [On Edit: Whoops! Yeah - I read Riley as Carey. I assume Don will be starting at the 2.]

That is very possible I just hope it is that since that would mean good things imo like there is enough stability and 3 point shooting among those guys to not need Carey to be on the court to balance and they are confident Tim can fill his role. Carey def gets a lot too in some way and I can see him being out there with Aminu and Beard as the back 3 to provide more stability for Beard since he took an extra year but still a frosh. But all will be revealed soon enough

No way Carey isn't starting. Team leader, best communicator, and you need guys who can spread the floor. Starting is pretty overrated imo but you need him out there to stabilize things.

I agree there is no way Carey doesn't start at least in the beginning of the year. He is the leader and between him and Rice being the 2 known good 3 point shooters on the college level I would imagine one of them will be on the court at all times to help spread the floor for the slashers.

IMO we know what we have in Tim but if Ryan were to beat him out that to means we may get some real O out of the 5 position. To me if I saw this lineup for game 1 I would be crazy excited for the season.

I think the people will the most minutes will be: King Riley Carey Aminu Dante
King will play alot of small ball center. Tim will start at center with King at power forward but tim will be taken out if ineffective or based on matchups. King will basically play the whole game (minus any foul trouble) and Tim maybe gets 10-15 mintues.

Ryan is going to play a lot and Big Tim is going to be the enforcer that we need and so I love Big Tim in the starting lineup.
