Jahidi was another big-man. And provided depth. Othella's lack of athleticism was why he remained at the 5 his whole career. At his height, he should have been a power forward. He was a liability in open space defensively. He had a nice, offensive inside game and sweet jump shot, wasn't afraid to bang inside, and could draw fouls. Spencer was more athletic. Plus he was 180 lbs at 6'10. There was no way he was playing center. Churchwell was entrenched at the 3, so the 4 was only spot he could put in Spencer. Don Reid emerged. He was athletic, could run, and had the physicality needed at the 4 and during the full court press. Don Reid really took over. We also added Jerome Williams later. Both had NBA careers. Spencer did not despite doing well at LSU.

Of course, none of us know for sure since there is no information out there. The more informative question is, what's likely? I would argue that given what we know, it's much more likely he's gone for the following reasons: 1. He left for a family-related leave, never to be heard from again. 2. Georgetown has essentially acted as though he is not part of the team, not listing him at the banquet, etc. 3. We are already either at or above the scholarship limit without Jalen Harris, and Harris is not good enough to warrant bumping someone else out. 4. Dante Harris was probably better than Jalen Harris when Jalen left, and that is almost certainly true now. Dante Harris' fairly solid year of play, combined with the talent we have coming in, means that even if he was on the roster, Jalen Harris' time on the court would (appropriately) be very limited anyway. So yeah, we have no clue what his status is, because Georgetown doesn't announce those things, and Jalen Harris himself has not said anything. But, I think it's way more likely he's NOT coming back based on those factors. In fact, I cannot think of a single factor weighing the other way (in favor of him coming back). The fact he would not be a counter as a graduate student with the free year of eligibility if her returns to Georgetown is the only reason to think he might come back. Since he did not get to play and did not get to work on his graduate degree perhaps he would come back to do both unlike in other years where that would not have been an option. Can't think it would hurt to have a 3rd point guard since one of our two will be a true freshman and Dante would be better at the end of the season if he doesn't have to play extended minutes when we have a game already won. Aminu can also run point if needed as a fill-in. There are already a short of minutes for good players. Jalen Harris was addd to be the experienced point guard to lead and guide two good freshman point guards. Beard then deferred and Jalen was needed more. He wasn't that effective as point nor scoring and then had an injury and that pushed Dante to sort it out immediately and he took the challenge. Grad transfers are often looking for a place to go to play more and high light what they can do, not sit behind one or two players. Malinowski was a bit of an exception, but he became and valuable piece. Most are like Bile or Terrell Allen that can be a solid back-up getting minutes or start. I can't see why Jalen would consider coming back, even with extra eligibility. He may have a fit somewhere, but his name isn't in the portal, yet.

Jalen’s not coming back, but who knows if he’s even dribbled a basketball since he left.

Sheik Ya-Ya Dia was very good Hoya. Knew how to stay in his lane & provided some solid minutes when called upon.

Speaking of former big men
Player A: NBA draft position - 58 Years in NBA - 8 Playoff appearances - 5 Career earnings: $6mm
Player B: NBA draft position - 43 Years in NBA - 7 Playoff appearances - 0 Career earnings: $25mm
Shows how being in the right place at the right time (and maybe having Ernie G as a GM) helps ... $20mm is a big discrepancy for career averages of 6pts/6rebs vs 3 pts/3 rebs
Player A: Don Reid Player B: Jahidi White
On a related note, Othella was in the NBA 11 years, averaged 7 and 4 and made the same as Jahidi.

I met both Jahidi & Othella at restaurants & both were affable & friendly. Jahidi even signed a napkin for my brother when I sang a few rifts of Jahidi Hidi Hidi ho...

Sibley's transfer solidifies King at the 4 (and honestly, the latter probably precipitated the former).
With Billingsley & only small-ish options behind King, Pat may not be as enamored with the small 5 as many ppl here would like. We'll see.
Or... maybe we're closer than we know to another incoming.

Harris-Carey-Aminu-King-Bates Ladies and gentlemen your big east champions of the future. Well this is awkward...but anyway I think that this team (bar a jump from Tim, Malcolm or Ryan) screams small ball and Ewing has grown as a coach so: Dante Carey Aminu Rice King Riley certainly has a shot to take a starting spot depending on how he adapts and his current 3 pt shooting

As I've watched the NBA playoffs and seen what Terrance Mann (6-5) and Donavan Mitchell (6-1) have done I get excited about the possibilities of our new pups. There can be great possibilities for the Hoyas!
I wonder what is happening in the daily scrimmages?!

Starting line-up? Still too early, but here’s a guess:
Harris Riley Mohammed Rice King

Starting line-up? Still too early, but here’s a guess: Harris Riley Mohammed Rice King I would just have Carey instead of Riley there atm otherwise it would mean that Riley and/or Mohammed is a far better 3 point shooter than previously anticipated and great if so, but for now Carey is the vet shooter so we shall have to wait and see
