Good run by the men in their first race of the season! 12 second spread 23:26-38 for the scorers!

We still have a chance to go to the NCAAs by finishing 2nd.

I didn't realize Butler recruited so much overseas! Their top four are from Ireland, France, Belgium, and France, respectively. Impressive race by them.

Butler went 2, 3, 5, 9, 16. Hoyas went 6, 10, 11, 12, 13. At least all our runners beat Butler's 5th man.

If Robert had XC eligibility, we might have won or at least tied.

Butler went 2, 3, 5, 9, 16. Hoyas went 6, 10, 11, 12, 13. At least all our runners beat Butler's 5th man. Hoyas would arguably win in a bigger, more competitive field. You see it all the time where teams with low sticks at conference meets lose to the tight pack team at regionals or NCAAs. Hopefully we get that chance!

I think the Hoyas have a good shot at the invitation as they should now be ranked #1 in the Mid Atlantic...can’t see the NCAA leaving out any region...plus their times on the Cary course are competitive with the ACC times from last Fall...

"A cross country season unlike any other deserves an NCAA Division I Men’s Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll unlike any other.
For the first time in history, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) is releasing National Coaches’ Polls the day of Conference Championships Friday. With teams being chosen for the rescheduled 2020 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships on Sunday via a live selection show on NCAA.com at 1 pm ET, member coaches felt it would be prudent to shed light on who they believe are the top-30 teams in the nation."
Georgetown Men are ranked #31 in the final regular season Coaches' Poll which was released yesterday after the Big East conference race.
The top 31 teams go on to next week's XC national championship in Oklahoma.
I think #1 in the Region and #2 in the Conference will be good enough to get it done!
Georgetown Women are ranked #21 and are a lock to go.

I really underestimated the Butler Men's team. I thought a lot of those international grad students were out of eligibility by now; Barry Keane graduated high school in 2013 which makes him about five years older than the 19-20 year old sophomores who make up our team. At #6 Jack was the first American to finish...
The point being that the Big East is as competitive as any conference out there. Look at how the Mens times from yesterday compare to this years ACC on the same course:
2021 Big East: Haftu Strintzos 23:05
2020 ACC: Yared Nugrese 23:03
2016 ACC: Justyn Knight 22:50
Average team times are there too, Butler would have tied ND and Georgetown would have been #3 with their 23:34:
Notre Dame: 23:22 NC State 23:27 Wake Forest 23:37 Virginia 23:39 Duke 23:50 Syracuse 23:49

Birdman -- FYI Sean Dolan is a track only guy. We will be rooting for Sean at Indoor Nationals as we know him well and he is a great kid. Plus there are no Hoyas in the field this year. I hope you can make the drive to Storrs in the spring to watch Payamps, Rizzo et al go at it...
