There may be still a small XC season. A small meet at Richmond on 2/20 and Big East in North Carolina on 3/5. After that maybe the NCAAs depending on how we do and what is the protocol for selecting teams.

The women have plans on running at Richmond. They have been training very hard.

In the regional rankings the men are ranked 2nd behind Nova and the women are ranked 1st ahead of WVU and Nova.

The rankings are really meaningless. Probably somewhat accurate for the top ten who have actually run races but a crap shoot after that.
Not a lot of information for the pollsters to go on; Georgetown needs to finish in the top two at the Big East to have a chance to qualify for the NCAA XC championship.
No clue how Villanova looks...they only have two returners from last years team and haven't run any races yet either.
I also read on the Cary NC Metroplex site that there will be no spectators allowed at the Big East race. If anyone hears that this changes please post.

I am not sure how they separated the Hoyas and UConn (maybe Sami finishing first?)

The split scores:
The Hoyas scored 38, 32, 42 during the race at 1mile, 2.1 miles, 5K UConn scored 85, 56, 42.
So the Hoyas have to watch out for UConn at the Big East.

I am not sure how they separated the Hoyas and UConn (maybe Sami finishing first?) When I ran in high school, the tiebreaker was always which team's 6th runner placed better, but in NCAA Cross Country they compare the finishes of the top five runners for each team. Sami finished ahead of UConn #1 Maggie finished ahead of UConn #2 Katie finished ahead of UConn #3 UConn #4 finished ahead of Baylee UConn #5 finished ahead of Alyssa Hoyas win the tiebreaker 3-2

Thanks Hoyaduck. I think if they used the 6th place runner then UConn would have won.

Big weekend of running coming up. The Hoyas, both men and women, will compete in the Big East XC championship meet in Cary, NC. This will be the men's debut, since they could not run at Richmond. Both teams have to finish in the top two for any chance of running at the NCAA in Oklahoma.
On Saturday Robert Brandt will run a 5000m race against very stiff competition in the Sound Running Invite in LA. Robert is hoping to get the Olympic Trials qualifier and perhaps the Olympic standard and along the way, maybe even the Georgetown record. Running the 1500m will be Amos Bartelsmeyer and the 800m Spencer Brown.

I miss Birdman's course preview. But from what I've heard the course is nice and the weather looks to be 55 and sunny. A far cry from the mud and snow of last year's Big East race in Wisconsin. I think my shoes are still drying out. The ground is well packed like a public park which should favor our speedy middle distance track guys. Three hills. And if you are watching online be aware that the team has new uniforms this year, described to me as a navy blue. Look for Jack to be out in front at the start of the men's race with the rest of the lads close behind. Go Hoyas!

Hahaha, conditions in NC seem to be much better for racing than here in Bethlehem (where it's going to be 25 at race time, and we still have up to 10" of packed snow on the ground). Really appreciate the course preview and uniform update, Mr. Weilbaker. Thanks! Good luck today, Hoyas! Let's go!

Since I can't attend this years race (no spectators allowed) I'm going to entertain myself by writing a quick prediction of the Men's race.
The winning team in the race goes to the NCAA Championship in OK on the 15th...#2 a maybe at best...
I think the Hoya Men have a great chance of winning...at last year's Big East our sub 4 milers Nick and Spencer were spinning their wheels in the mud...this year's hard packed ground (think Van Cortlandt Park) should really benefit our 1500/3000 guys like Jack Salisbury and Matt Payamps...Nova has two great runners who could easily finish in front of all of our guys and UConn has three very good runners who have already had the benefit or running two XC races...but any of our ten guys could be in our top five...no low sticks this year but a great team effort will get it done...
Keep an eye on true freshman Owen and sophomore Jantz...
Go Hoyas!
