Blair stepping up big time with shooting consistency and scoring. After being Big East player of the week, he now gets a new career high. Will Georgetown add a Canadian flag to its unis?

Under the circumstances, that’s about as good as it gets. What an effort, and that’s the best atmosphere at a game in so long.

Team's got a lot of heart. Unbelievably, I was robbed of the 2nd Muresan FT by local Chicago TV, which attempted 3 times to move on to regularly scheduled programming (some kung fu movie). I'll live without seeing it, though. Wasn't ever a doubt in my mind he'd hit it. In a game that required a ton of unsung heroes, we got them. Obviously can't go through any recap without mentioning Blair (efficiently!) carrying the offensive load with a new career high. I thought today may have been Q's best game defensively as a Hoya. He was essentially Romaro Gill lite today with all the shots he turned back and altered. And although it was an up and down day for Allen overall (a lot of bad turnovers late, continuing to not realize where the sidelines are,e tc.), there was still more good than bad with the clutch FT shooting and facilitating of the offense. Bad obviously starts with Yurt's injury. Have to hope he gets some McKnight magic with recovery, and at least he does get a week to try to get healthy. But that is potentially a huge blow; much like Mac's absence, it's just killing us to require more and more guys to shoulder 40 mpg each night. Ewing's willingness to go more zone in spots does help with the stamina issues a bit, but if Yurt is out for extended periods of time, gotta think Muresan and Timmy are going to be needed to provide 5-10 minutes; the math just no longer adds up otherwise. Pickett's play from about the 4 minute mark to the 2 minute mark of the 2nd half were huge in helping us maintain the lead we wouldn't relinquish. Had a huge defensive rebound in traffic (possibly injuring Weems in the process) and a 3 that FINALLY went down prior to his fairly bogus 5th foul. But man, what a forgetful 30+ minutes he played prior to that. Looked like he was firing darts blindfolded while shooting, and today felt like really the first time we saw his shooting woes really impact his defensive effort. Awareness the defensive end was extremely low today. Know that we were shorthanded and out of other options, but we won this game essentially playing 4 on 5 for most of it. As much as I'd like to bench him until he gets his head straight, this team obviously isn't deep enough to not play him major minutes. Just praying that Ewing can boost his confidence somehow during the next few days, because we cannot have another milk carton game from him if we are going to challenge Butler next week (potentially without Yurt). Holding serve today essentially puts the team in the same spot they were entering the SHU game. Beat one of these no doubt NCAA teams for a signature win and I would put up our resume against anyone else on the bubble for one of those Dayton spots. Let's just hope our athletic trainers and medical staff can perform some magic in the next few days to ensure we have as many options as possible for Hinkle.

Super proud of the guys and credit to Ewing for switching defenses and keeping the guys energized. Such a shame the injury Gods are being so cruel to us.

The 8 blocks by Georgetown (6 by Wahab) and 18 of 19 on free throws are the stand out stats from the game.
Hoyas were incredibly scrappy. Losing Yurtseven with badly twisted ankle in the 2nd half and Mosely at far from full strength with tailbone issue (hurt is on a bad fall near the end of the Hall game), but other players stepped up. Coaching has been supreme with the short bench and getting really good play our of whomever is on the court.

I would also be remiss to not mention that, up until the injury, I thought Yurt generally had a good game going. Was much more aggressive in establishing deep position in the post (which led to some dunks), but also knew well enough to know when to take the baseline jumper and when to kick out of the double team. While he still wasn't great defensively in the paint, he did come up with a couple key deflections and a steal in the second half that proved vital to the comeback.
Hopefully the ankle sprain isn't serious and he can at least provide some minutes next Saturday.

Wilson's father passed away, which is why he has been missing. He will be back on campus this week.

It may not be pretty. It may be ugly, in fact. But these guys play hard, each and every game. Imagine what they could do with a couple of additional players on the roster, ready to contribute.
Oh, by the way...maybe this guy Ewing can in fact coach a little.
