Boy I would love for him and Frankie to team up! Oh my lord!!! But if we get Malachi instead of Frankie, that would be good too. My new wishlist for 21' Frankie or Malachi, Patrick Baldwin or Frank Kepnang and Mutombo. Of course if we can get a top local kid next year, I would take them over any of these guys with the exception of Mutombo or Frankie but I don't think that we will land a top local kid in 21' Maybe we can get a couple in 22'. Let's Go Hoyas!

I think Frankie/Malachi are good possibilities, and I'd be surprised if we didn't land a talented big man (my guess is still Ryan M)... but I don't think we have much of a shot at Baldwin. It's easy to have a hopeful outlook at the beginning of every new recruiting season (look at the 1st few names of every yearly 'Recruiting Thread'... Zion? Thon Maker?), but we should have a very solid '21 class.

I assume you're saying he is the number 1 player. Yes, we may not get him and maybe he might end up playing for his dad. However, I do believe that we are listed in his top 5 choices of schools he would wish to play for. This is the reason why I say I am hoping we get the kid. Now, I don't know any local kids who we are in their top 5 list of schools they would like to play for. If you do, hopefully you will enlighten me. I don't know this to be a fact or should I say I am assuming with the local kids, we were late to the table as far as getting in on their recruitment. And thus, it is my perception that we ain't got a chance with most of who may be left on the board. However, I could be wrong and perhaps, if I am wrong, you will enlighten me. Now 22' is a different matter and subsequent classes are a different matter. I think we have a good chance of landing some top guys as well as some good support guys to build the roster. I believe we have a chance of landing some guys in the future classes because I think there are rumblings on campus of the team not being able to land locals. I believe there is going to be super priority going forward to get the DMV top kids to commit to the Hoyas. I am praying we adopt the 70's and 80's strategy (the Hoyas had) of building our roster with talented DMV kids and getting a top star or two nationally to fill up the roster. On my part, I know that is wishful thinking but, I believe most of us think that this strategy is the way for us to go in the future.

It's just a joke about the incongruity of being able to pull the best player in the country but not the best ones locally. The bottom line is Pat hasn't made DMV recruiting his #1 priority -- at least not in the way that many of the people in HoyaLand want to happen. He's taking a national approach -- which is fine if it leads to success... that ultimately leads to DMV recruiting success... until you have a self-sustaining model. There are local kids w/ varying degrees of interest that we've been interested in: Mohammed, Reid, Robinson, Hawkins, Reynolds, and others. In our best days, we should be able to pull 1 or 2 of those guys without much competition. But in the short term, we don't have that cachet. I'd still bet all my money on the local field over Baldwin - even though he's got us in his final list. With the way recruiting works... we'll probably end up with a DMV kid who's not even on the GU public radar (i.e. no reported contact or offer) yet. (not an SRD)

First, I don't think there are any top local guys left with the exception of Mohammed, Keels and Hawkins. All are highly ranked (the top 50) but none of them have a priority list or at least said the Hoyas are in their top five. However, Baldwini has us in his finals. So, I'm a little confused. Yeah we may not land Baldwin but who knows maybe the Hoyas staff can pull it off. And again, none of the top remaining locals, have a priority list. So again, I'm confused. Help me out and make me see clearly please.

But at least it’s early. How solid is the TB commitment?

He commented under the Malachi Smith Instagram Post linked below saying "Next Move, Best Move 🐶" so good to see he's still advocating publicly for us (Edit: I saw the comment the other day, but it looks like Beard may have deactivated his account again, so it no longer shows up. But it really happened, I promise lol) http://instagr.am/p/CC4v4Gohp41

Sir, I don't think that is the right attitude to take about not recruiting the best players. You call it a waste of time. I don't necessarily agree with you especially when these kids are listing the Hoyas in their finals. So we may not get Baldwin or Holmgreen this go around but, in the near future we may get a couple of players of their caliber. The Hoyas still is a brand, maybe not as big of a brand as in the past, but still it is a recognizable brand. Coach Ewing is a hall of famer player both in the pros and in college and his name still rings bells so much so that it has been on the lips of the kids, the media and the people in the AAU circuit. Coach also has NBA contacts that should be beneficial to the top kids should they decide to come here and play. Finally, Georgetown is in the heart of the nation's capital with plenty of resources and let alone a first rate education. And, it is still a big time basketball school in the best conference in the nation. So why wouldn't we get the Baldwins and the Holmgreens? I think you're a bit negative. I never tell a poster to not think a certain way just because I want them to think a certain way. I am not trying to rail on you and you can feel how you want to feel my dude but I am going to keep rooting for the Hoyas to land the best players both local and national.

Maybe I am out on a limb here but I like the idea that he will join the team next year rather than this one.

The staff was aware of this possibility and IMO did a very good job with the 2020 class and are off to a great start in 2021! Beard, Riley and hopefully Billingsley by the first weekend in August 2020 is great start for the 2021 class.

If we're going to have a good 2021 class coming in, I'd like as many pieces as possible already in place to have the young guys hit the ground running. Right now it's Qudus and... Sibley? Carey? Others? We'll see. Hopefully there's some usable parts there -- I think Beard could've been one of them. Not a really big deal either way, but I'd rather get that talent in ASAP.

Positive reviews about Tyler Beard today...(sorry don't know how to embed tweet)
Patrick O'Brien @pobscout 2021 6'1 Tyler Beard (Tea Marie 17u) has been puttiing on a show the first two days. Scoring at will all over the court. Showing his confidence level at the #PhenomSummerHavoc
