He had some ability on defense and a decent stroke, but... At the end of the day, he wasn't moving the needle very much. Not sure I'd "applaud" if he were transferring in right now. Best of luck to him going forward though This. He wasn’t a rotation player and with Rice and King in the rotation (and Holloway still, plus bringing in a more natural 4 in Billingsley), wasn’t likely to be a contributor this year either. My gut says UW-M.

Says someone with no experience building a program...yawn Another thought: Another meaningless/contextless list of stats....all different situations and obviously Ewing is the only coach we’ve had during the modern transfer era where things are fundamentally different. He’s also effectively given several of those transfers the boot in one way or another. People are out here distressed and don’t realize many of our peers have already lost 3, 4, 5+ players this offseason.

Ugh. Well the good news is that this should be the last year of such rampant transferring of non-graduates nation wide. Why. The one free transfer is permanent.

I wonder why he waited so long to enter the portal? It would make sense if he was waiting on PBJ or Pickett’s decision, but both won’t be here. Well, anyway not too surprised given that he didn’t play big minutes, and the free transfer is making it easy to go shopping for another opportunity. Next. As I speculated last week, I think he is headed to UW-MIL with PBJ and PBS. This was all being coordinated.

Clark and Holloway should get some time now. Anyone know who is left in the portal worth getting regardless of position?

If my math is right, and I admit this is confusing, if we DON'T fill this slot, we have 2 open 2022 scholarships, unless someone leaves early from next year's class. And if it's Aminu as a one and done, that would mean he was all that for his one year. There are multiple 2022 signings I'm hoping for, and that we seem to have a realistic shot at, so this could set us up for a good 3 person 2022 recruiting class. Cue the guy who says we shouldn't sign hs players. I know you push that at every opportunity, but we should if they are Nick Smith or Rodney Rice or Tyrell Ward, or Donovan Clingan or Denver Anglin. Can we get a 1 year grad rental for 2021-2022?

Just frustrating. It is what it is! We seem to always be starting from near zero, always a complete rebuild. This is not quite that, but almost. Let's see what rabbit coach pulls out of the hat this time. Hopefully someone with game and polish from some corner of the world.

There weren’t 2,000 kids in the transfer portal back in the day. That's just a plain stupid statistic. Show any program over that same period of time and 95% are in the same boat....

Says someone with no experience building a program...yawn If the requirements for commenting on basketball on Twitter or HoyaTalk were "experience building a program" basketball commentary on Twitter would essentially disappear, and on HoyaTalk 99.9% of posts, if not all, would disappear. If you apply this standard to your own posting (and I am NOT suggesting you do), I am guessing you'd never be able to comment on here. This type of retort or commentary is really not useful. By this standard, a fan in any sport could essentially never comment - either positively or negatively - on sports.

By this standard, a fan in any sport could essentially never comment - either positively or negatively - on sports. No I’m applying that standard to that topic. They can comment all they want about various topics and I’m not trying to imply there is a right or wrong way but no one has any assumed credibility when they don’t have any experience with what they’re talking about. Particularly when they’re making a mountain out of a molehill, imo. But yes obviously it’s Twitter so folks will say anything under the sun I was just pointing out that that particular poster has no idea what they’re talking about (since they have no experience). I don’t know, I find it useful. Why do folks feel a need to comment needlessly (on goood they admittedly don’t understand)? Surely some can keep their thoughts to themselves and in their own head rather than litter the sports stratosphere with baseless opinions? Surely fans can open their ears a little more and listen to folks with actual experience? There has to be a balance, as with anything in life. To that end, a tweet linked to a coach or person with actual experience would be much more credible, and consequently much more useful to discuss around here than constant negative energy from the peanut gallery. We’re just going to have to agree to disagree big time on this one. I don’t find the tweet linked useful at all. I think a lot of fans run their mouths needlessly about topics they don’t understand and it often does more harm than good in most situations (in part by adding more variables to a situation). This should be something that this fan base, especially, should understand given some of the player-program relationship issues we’ve had over the last few years. We, the fans, are part of the program and we have to have standards as well. These kids are young and they’re watching us, listening to us as well. And for the record, I do hold myself to the same standard. I always try to alk about things I have experience with and I’m clear when I’m just voicing opinion.

It's a sign of the times, and that's all. Georgia lost 9 players into the portal this off season, that's a problem not what Georgetown in going through.

Wish Sibley the best in the future. Hopefully he can find the right fit.

This tweet is so disingenuous. Most on this board were glad when Akinjo was gone and a rival coach (Boeheim) said we were better without him. Sibley barely played. Q was the only transfer that was a head-scratcher. However, some were complaining about him being too much of a throwback and not a modern big man. We won the Big East tournament this year (without much contribution from 2 of the 3 players mentioned in that tweet. Again, Akinjo was gone and Sibley barely played). Gained a lot of publicity because of it. Went to the NCAA tournament So-called good recruiting class coming in next year. That is how you build a program and sustain success for the long term. Not by keeping guys who don't 100% buy in or barely play. But yeah, context is key.

People may be looking at this wrong. Maybe Coach sees an opportunity to upgrade the roster and is going about it surgically. Two players left and were replaced with equal or better talent.

To me it all comes down to who we add now (if anybody) and whether that player can make more of an impact than who we lost...
