Good luck to Jamari in the future. I liked what he showed but his injury in HS really stunted his development. Honestly he seems like he'd be better served with a sit 1 transfer rather then being immediately eligible.

The timing is interesting that within a 24 hour period Sibley is out the door and Bates might be coming

What's the middle ground between "we won't miss him" and "we shouldn't have signed him"?

UTEP didn't even photoshop a UTEP jersey. That's a rarity to have him in his old jersey these days.

That is a school and conference where Jamari should be able to get significant playing time right away. It will be interesting to watch his development as a player. I wish him well.

He was never a top 100 recruit in my eyes. I didn't see the skill or physical attributes.

"I like coaching Sibley, man, he's a good kid, he's a coachable kid," coach Joe Golding said of one of his first recruits. "There's some things he has to get better at, but I like his energy and he's talented. We've played him out of position at times this year but he continues to compete and fight. "He was playing his best basketball a month ago, the New Mexico State game, then he got the flu. He missed about a week of practice, a couple of games and he kind of took a step backward. But I do think he's starting to get back, he's practicing better and he's doing some good things. "I think he's got a chance to be a really, really good player." From there he played for coach Patrick Ewing at Georgetown for a year before the transfer to UTEP. "It was a change of scenery, coaching, style of play," Sibley said of choosing El Paso, where he was recruited by assistant Butch Pierre. "I knew they had a new coach here, I was open to that. It's a new me, new coach." "Put on weight, that's the biggest thing," Golding said. "That's not going to happen overnight, that's something we're working on every day — continue to work him in the weight room and he's got to learn how to eat instead of Fruity Pebbles and Cocoa Puffs, the glazed donut store. "The biggest thing for him is weight, then it's playing time and experience. He did play on a team that went to the NCAA tournament last year but he didn't play a lot of minutes, he kind of just sat in the corner. "He's got a different role with us, doing different things. He has to improve as an overall player but I like him, he's moving in the right direction." Sibley will measure that by the success of his team. "Everybody is trying to figure out their roles, but I feel like just being the best teammate and giving my all to help us win is my role," Sibley said. "That's every game, no matter what it takes to win." www.elpasotimes.com/story/sports/2022/01/05/utep-basketball-jamari-sibley-hitting-stride-team/9105440002/

Would have been nice if he stayed here and did that! But he sounds happy so do your thing.

Isn’t this character no longer on the team. Shouldn’t this be moved like the Maclung thread
