A 6-foot-1 point guard at Arlington (Va.) Bishop O'Connell, Jones has proven himself to be one of the top young players in the DMV area and a player that high major programs are going to need to familiarize themselves with early.
Early on, NC State, Ohio and South Carolina have seen enough to drop early offers on Jones. Others like Florida, Georgetown, Texas (where he says he would like to visit soon) and Xavier have made early inquiries and many more will be getting involved.

Just a few weeks ago we had an opportunity to see class of 2024 forward Donny Freeman of Washington (DC) St. John’s at the National High School Hoops Festival. A long and athletic 6-foot-8 sophomore, he looked impressive from a physical standpoint and could really move. However, he also looked a little unsure of himself and didn’t necessarily impact the game. Here at the City of Palms, all of Freeman’s athletic gifts still impressed but this time his game was up to par as he scored 10 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and blocked a pair of shots. Freeman was all over the floor and despite being lean, never backed down from physical presences like Orlando (Fla.) Christian Prep’s four-star frontliners Ven-Allen Lubin and Jayden Hastings. He has a shot that looks like it will be respectable to the three-point line, he has a quick first step and he’s got some real chops as a passer. He looks every bit the part of a four-star prospect and already has offers from George Mason, Georgetown, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Syracuse, Virginia Tech and Xavier among others. When we introduce our national rankings for the sophomore class, there’s a good chance that Freeman claims a spot. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/LongFormArticle/Basketball-recruiting-city-of-palms-Kanaan-Carlyle-Auburn-Baylor-Florida-Kansas-Stanford-178672918/#178672918_4

Jaeden Mustaf, who checks in at No. 36 in the recent 2024 Rivals150 rankings, picked up a lot of notoriety this summer playing with the New World program on the Adidas 15u 3SSB circuit. “Right now, I have offers from Virginia Tech, Rutgers, Howard, and George Mason,” Mustaf said. “I have been hearing a lot from Xavier, Maryland, Georgetown, schools around the area,” Mustaf said. “They haven’t offered yet. I don’t think I’ll be looking much at the location right now. I will be looking at how a program lets me play my game. I don’t want to go somewhere that is too systematic, but they allow me the freedom to play how I’m most comfortable.” basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/rutgers-virginia-tech-among-the-first-to-offer-jaeden-mustaf

Swinton was offered by GU in late September. PI: Which programs are currently prioritizing you the most or expressing the most interest? AS: I have offers from Virginia Tech, Georgetown, George Mason, and Howard and they all are heavily recruiting me. Coaches from each school stay in contact with my coaches at DeMatha and were in the gym a lot prior to the season. I’m also receiving high interest from Xavier, Butler, UVA, Louisville, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Penn State. PI: Where have you visited thus far? Do you have any future visits planned? AS: I’ve visited Virginia Tech, Maryland, Villanova, Maryland, George Mason, and Howard. I plan on taking unofficials to Georgetown and Xavier, soon. www.prospectiveinsight.com/post/rr-aj-swinton

Even before his sophomore season had started, Vyctorius Miller had been building quite the reputation. Just before Christmas at the Tarkanian Invitational, Miller looked like one of the top shooting guards in the country in his class. The sophomore at Irvine (Calif.) Crean Lutheran only reinforced that notion. A smooth, quick, skilled, and aggressive scorer, Miller is at least 6-foot-4 (maybe 6-foot-5) and has a nose for getting buckets. Miller’s bread and butter is scoring off the dribble. He gets to the rim and finishes in traffic; he has an assortment of pull-ups and floaters at his disposal, and he’ll bury shots from deep. In transition he’s an above the rim finisher. Let’s be clear that he isn’t Jamal Murray and it’s way too early to expect him to be that type of player, but there are some very real similarities in how Miller gets his in comparison to how Murray did at the same age. Miller is tracking as a potentially elite prospect and one of the top players in the class of 2024. Arizona State, Georgetown, Oklahoma State and Wake Forest are among those who have offered already. On Tuesday, assistants from Arizona, California, UCLA and USC were among those in attendance. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Basketball-recruiting-news-Vyctorius-Miller-Andrej-Stojakovic-Jaden-Henley-Jazz-Gardner-179283762/

Pushing 6-foot-5, he’s an athletic, skilled, and aggressive scorer at Irvine (Calif.) Crean Lutheran who gets buckets at all three levels, finishes strong in transition and can make plays for others. He’s on the short list of sophomores who could start off as a five-star prospect and has offers from Arizona State, Georgetown, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss and Wake Forest. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/LongFormArticle/Basketball-recruiting-news-california-holiday-events-Dusty-Stromer-Richard-Isaacs-Curtis-Williams-Vyctorius-Miller-Arizona-UCLA-USC-179477272/#179477272_7

Standing 6-foot-7, Flowers has a bag filled with tools. His most eye-popping tool, you notice immediately in warmups, is his elbow at the rim explosion. After the game gets going, you see how quickly Flowers fills the lanes and switches ends. The Huntington (W.Va.) Prep sophomore can handle as a wing and knock down shots with his feet set. There has been a lot of growth here over the past eight to 12 months, and more could come with the amount of upside Flowers still has. He is currently ranked No. 33 in the initial 2023 Rivals150. Flowers carries close to 15 offers. He has taken unofficial visits to Georgetown, Xavier and Cincinnati. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/shaw-s-takeaways-national-high-school-hoops-festivalHuntington Prep was undermanned today and the game did not go as one would hope in a big loss but Trentyn Flowers did continue to show why he is in the conversation among the best in the sophomore class. He is pushing 6-foot-7 with a 210-pound frame and tremendous athleticism but also has the scoring ability to couple with it. He can make shots on the perimeter and while his shot wasn’t falling, it was what he was doing cutting off the ball and getting out in transition that made him effective. Flowers is a gifted sophomore with a lot of upside. The next step in his development is continuing to develop his handle but there’s a lot to like about Flowers’ future. Flowers has been a hit on the recruiting trail the last two months Georgetown, LSU, USC, Memphis and Kansas all extending offers. 247sports.com/Article/Chick-Fil-A-Classic-Thursday-recap-top-performers-Redd-Thompson-Cam-Scott-Trentyn-Flowers-Bryce-Lindsay-179439681/

Swinton was offered by GU in late September. AJ Swinton, a junior at Hyattsville (Md.) Dematha Catholic, opened eyes playing with Team Takeover (D.C.) on the 15u EYBL circuit. “I would say I excel in attacking in transition and shooting the ball,” Swinton told Rivals.com. “I make it a point to play defense. I’d say I have improved a lot with my handle and shooting recently. I have heard some Jerami Grant comparisons, which is cool because he went here (Dematha). I have offers from George Mason, Virginia Tech, Georgetown and Howard. I recently visited Virginia Tech and George Mason.” “Xavier, Butler and Maryland are schools we are hearing most from who have not offered yet,” Swinton said. “I will be looking closely at the coaching staff. I want to go to a place that has a good atmosphere and to a program that I can see that wants me to be there.” basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/aj-swinton-making-his-case

WHERE HE’S FROM: An Atlanta-area prospect, Howard played last season at suburban Norcross High School, where he was part of a loaded roster. He’s been linked to Kanye West’s new prep school Donda Academy, however, and could play next season at the California-based institution. WHO HE IS: Howard is all upside, as he boasts the length, athleticism and scoring ability to be great. The 6-foot-6 wing has some room to grow as a defender and a distance shooter but he already has a knack for getting to his spots and finishing at the rack with either hand. At last month’s DT Academy event, he showed the ability to facilitate for teammates as well as create off the bounce. Howard has a top-five ceiling if he becomes more consistent as a shooter and defender. EARLY OFFERS: Howard has a host of early offers from high-major programs, but Georgia, Georgia Tech, Texas and Auburn seem most involved at this juncture. That, of course, is subject to change as his recruitment evolves. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/i-ve-got-five-on-it-class-of-2024-prospects-that-may-be-rankedFive-star wing Jahki Howard won’t sign a letter of intent until 2024, so predicting his landing spot now is a fool's errand. His offer list will evolve, schools that have offered could cool on him as a prospect, coaching changes will take place, the world could end … you get the point. Still, as things stand, it’s easy to get the sense that Texas holds a slight edge at this - admittedly early - juncture. I’ve spoken with the Donda Academy star in person twice in the past three months. Each time, I let him direct the conversation, and each time he steered it toward the Longhorns and the fact that he grew up rooting for the Longhorns and Kevin Durant. Ask which schools he wants to visit when it comes time? He only names Texas. Asked which program is most intriguing to him? He says the Longhorns. This certainly seems like more than a passing interest. That said, there are juggernauts lying in the weeds. On Saturday, Howard said he’s been in preliminary contact with Kentucky and has spoken with Wildcat assistant Orlando Antigua, with whom he feels a connection. UK has yet to offer, as the program doesn’t typically pull the trigger this early, but the building blocks for such a thing seem to be being laid. That’s all to say there are plenty of potential obstacles for the Longhorns to overcome, even if they’ve positioned themselves well in the race’s first leg. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/florida-man-five-star-jahki-howard-miami-2022-guard-rj-luis

As for his recruitment: it’s unsurprisingly heating up. Felton’s scholarship offers include Georgetown, Florida, Kansas, Ole Miss, South Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina and Wake Forest. Felton visited the Gamecocks and Demon Deacons last fall, and Virginia coaches stopped by an Eagles practice last week. Two prominent in-state programs have also entered the picture, as Felton told the USA TODAY Network that UNC and N.C. State have reached out to express interest. The general message from Hubert Davis and Kevin Keatts’ coaching staffs: “Just letting me know that they know where I’m at and they see me.” www.fayobserver.com/story/sports/high-school/basketball/2022/01/13/jahseem-felton-gaston-christian-basketball-recruiting-unc-kansas/9157080002/
