It does seem that the "new" staff has moved away, or at a minimum changed focus, on some of the guys they were recruiting. Some of the players they were mentioned to be recruiting hard earlier don't even list Georgetown as a school that is still talking to them. You have to assume that Nickleberry would want to do things his way and recruits kids/programs where he has relationships once he was made director of recruiting, which is fine. Hopefully they are in a good spot on the Allen kid. It does look like there are only an few kids in '23 that they are still chasing, but they are extending more offers and building relationships with a lot of '24 and '25 players. It will be interesting to see if how the recruiting plays out over the next few years.

I am sure my name gives it away but I am from MA, outside of Boston. Anyone familiar w/the area may recognize a smallish local paper telegram and gazette. They are reporting Gtown, Davidson and Wake Forest were all in Thursday at 6AM for a private workout for TJ Powers of Worcester Academy. He is a 6'8" 210 pound forward. Ranked #51 by ESPN. It stated Gtown has offered. Smart kid offers from Harvard and BC recently as well. I have a buddy closer to the local sports scene, he said it was Ewing in attendance for the workout. One of the biggest movers in the updated class of 2023 rankings TJ Power has seen his recruitment pick up this spring. The 6-foot-8 sharp shooter will visit Virginia and is looking to set up visits with Notre Dame, and USC in the near future. “My recruitment has definitely picked up a lot since I’ve been playing well, he said. “A lot of new schools have been involved like Virginia, Notre Dame, USC,Indiana, and Stanford.” “I’m flying straight for Louisville to Virginia And I’m trying to set up visits with Notre Dame sometime in June and USC but Notre Dame is more far along right now.” 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Basketball-recruiting-TJ-Power-Virginia-USC-Notre-Dame-188038264/Nobody seemed to generate more of a buzz from the assembled college coaches than TJ Power. The forward from Worcester (Ma.) Academy was crushing it all weekend long for BABC and had coaches going particularly crazy after a 41 point outing on Saturday night. Currently ranked just outside of the top 50 by 247Sports, Power has put himself in position to make a large jump after the summer because of his size and tools. Power is also an accomplished pitcher (he's a lefty on the mound but shoots right handed in hoops) and wants to look into playing both baseball and basketball in college and most programs have been very receptive to that. He's seen Iowa, Notre Dame and Virginia officially and has been to Boston College unofficially -- and all those head coaches were sure to watch him plenty. Kansas offered on Sunday, the Duke staff took in multiple games and Indiana and Wake Forest are among those that he mentioned trying to set up visits with. Marquette, Ohio State, Stanford and USC, there's almost too many schools to list. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/LongFormArticle/Basketball-recruiting-Nike-EYBL-TJ-Power-Jizzle-James-Dylan-Harper-Nick-Janowski-189968584/#189968584_1

That being said, both Kwame Evans Jr. and Mackenzie Mgbako who check in at No. 2 and No. 3 in the updated ranking are hot on his heels. A product of Baltimore who has transferred to loaded Montverde (Fla.) Academy for his junior season, Evans could be the most naturally gifted player in the class. Pushing 6-foot-10 at this point, he’s a skilled combo forward who can shoot with range, cover ridiculous ground on defense and he’s just scratching the surface. He’s also inconsistent. If he’s able to figure it all out, it may be tough to deny his claim to the No. 1 spot. Auburn, George Washington (where his father is a hall of famer) Georgetown, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Memphis, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas and USC are just a few of the 20 plus programs who have already offered scholarships. 247sports.com/Article/Dajuan-Wagner-Jr-holds-on-to-the-No-1-spot-in-the-updated-2023-rankings-173005099/Baltimore kid (where Nickleberry is supposedly strong), high school teammate of Marvel Allen...

Isaiah Coleman, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard at National Christian Academy in Maryland, is a four-star prospect ranked No. 54 overall in the 247Sports Composite. He’s No. 13 among shooting guards and No. 1 overall in the state of Maryland. His former National Christian Academy coach, Kenny Johnson, was recently hired at Rhode Island. He has local offers from Georgetown, Maryland and VCU, along with offers from Virginia Tech and Miami. “The long 6-foot-5 guard can put the ball in the hole and made shots all day long,” 247Sports National Basketball Analyst Travis Branham wrote of Coleman after the first live-evaluation period this month. “He created separation off the dribble, connected from deep and got in the paint scoring inside the arc.” 247sports.com/college/tennessee/LongFormArticle/Tennessee-Vols-Basketball-Recruiting-2023-Justin-Edwards-JP-Estrella-Freddie-Dilione-Coen-Carr-189989953/#189989953_10

Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne 2023 point guard Lawrent Rice was among the stars on hand this weekend at the Flyin’ To The Hoop event near his hometown of Dayton. The 6-3 Rice had 16 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals but his Wayne team dropped a 52-49 decision to Pickerington North on Saturday. The loss drops the Warriors to 7-5 on the season, although all five of the losses come to teams ranked in the top 15 of the MaxPreps Division I state poll. (The others were to Cincinnati Elder, Fairfield, Kettering Fairmont and rival Centerville.) Rice is ranked as the nation’s No. 130 prospect in the 247Sports Composite rankings. He is No. 18 among combo guards nationally and No. 3 overall in Ohio for 2023. He boasts offers from Louisville, Ohio State, Purdue, Kansas State and West Virginia and has interest from other schools. Speaking after the game on Saturday, Rice said he is ready to name his top seven schools sometime this week. The question is whether Ohio State, which offered Rice in June, will be on that list. Rice said the Buckeyes have slowed down their pursuit of him after receiving a verbal from Kentucky 2023 combo guard George Washington III in early November. The sentiment goes that OSU coach Chris Holtmann and his staff could be prioritizing prospects at other positions in that 2023 class. “With Ohio State, they haven’t been recruiting me the most,” Rice said. “They have a guard in this class from Louisville who committed. Things have kind of slowed down with them.” Asked what schools had been contacting him the most at present, Rice said, “Right now, it’s Louisville, Georgetown, Kansas State, VCU, Notre Dame … there are a lot more. I’m actually coming out with my top seven soon.” 247sports.com/college/notre-dame/Article/Huber-Heights-Wayne-point-guard-Lawrent-Rice-considered-one-of-Ohios-best-for-2023-class-180823467/Below, we take a quick look at key prospects the Ohio State coaches could be tracking during the July observation periods. This is by no means OSU’s complete wish list. Names will be added and others will fall off as the month unfolds. Lawrent Rice, 6-3, point guard, Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne – Rice (ranked 183rd) was a second-team All-Ohio pick in Division I. He led Wayne to an 18-8 record and a berth in a regional semifinal game. He averaged 20.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 3.6 steals per game. He shot 53 percent from the floor and 40 percent on threes. His top eight list of schools includes Georgetown, Louisville, Kansas State, Marquette, Notre Dame, Ohio State, VCU and Xavier. He plays for All-Ohio Red on the Nike circuit. 247sports.com/college/ohio-state/LongFormArticle/Ohio-State-Buckeyes-mens-basketball-recruiting-targets-for-July-live-period-189782338/#189782338_1One more player with an Ohio State offer on that All-Ohio team is Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne guard Lawrent Rice (ranked 183rd). Rice averaged 8.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists in the six games. His top eight list of schools includes Georgetown, Louisville, Kansas State, Marquette, Notre Dame, Ohio State, VCU and Xavier. 247sports.com/college/ohio-state/LongFormArticle/Ohio-State-Buckeyes-mens-basketball-key-prospects-shine-at-July-travel-events-189998624/#189998624_2

There will be an abundance of scholarships available after this season - I'd guess at least 5, more likely 7 or 8.

Obviously the whole COVID 5 years thing throws off any sort of traditional counting, but I think it's safe to say that the following are highly unlikely to play beyond this season in a Georgetown uniform: Mozone Wahab Wilson Murray Heath maybe slightly more likely to stay another year than the above 4, but I think he goes to make $ somewhere after this season as well. So there's 5 and that's before you have any transfers out.

Auburn, Texas, Seton Hall, and Arkansas are among the schools prioritizing the five star big man and he spoke some schools with 247Sports. Auburn: “I had a really good visit. I enjoyed it. I had fun going around campus, talking to the coaches and I seeing the players. They’re message was to keep playing hard and doing my thing. For them they’re hoping I land there and that we can work to get me to the next level the best way.” Arkansas: “When I went to Arkansas it was when they played a game against Kenutcky and I’ve never seen fans go crazy like that. The facilities were also good and what they had on the table.” Seton Hall: “It was good getting out there in New Jersey talking with the coaches. They said the good stuff. It was good to hear what they planned on having me do if I end up there.” 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Basketball-recruiting-Baye-Fall-Auburn-Seton-Hall-Texas-Rutgers-190039887/

But without trying to be rude, I'd ask back - why does it matter? We all know there will be plenty of people that leave before their eligibility expires. The only mystery at this point is who they will be beyond the ones I listed above.

Every season Pat loses a bunch of eligible players. For one reason or another, every season he loses his best player. The question is how many will he lose this time.

In the grand scheme it doesn't but for a thread about 2023 recruiting it is relevant to them refocusing and reducing the number of targets. It appears they don't really want to add many if any freshman for next year and at present they don't really have many scholarships to fill. We may all think we know what will happen but that doesn't make it factual.

We may all think we know what will happen but that doesn't make it factual. Just because a guy on Twitter says they've reduced their # of targets doesn't mean it is true. Sure, it's clear they've honed in on Miranda, Allen and Parker as highest priority targets. My guess is it's because they think they can get 1 or more of those guys (we're likely the current leader for Allen and Parker) and they want to concentrate on getting them. I highly doubt the reason we're not visbily going after more guys is because the staff doesn't think they'll have many scholarships to work with. Nickleberry has probably gotten Ewing to pivot from the "throw as many spaghetti noodles at the wall and see what sticks" recruiting strategy to the "hone in on a few guys we have a shot with and pay the most attention and money compared to other programs recruiting them" strategy.
