Former LSU commit and top 50 combo guard Marvel Allen is looking to set up the rest of his official visits. “I’m really trying to dig deep and see what schools I’m really liking and I’ll probably make a decision around the end of the summer.” “I’m looking to schedule my last two visits and that’ll be either between Michigan, Texas A&M, FSU or Texas.” “It’s been equal with the schools who are recruiting me right now. It’s going to come down to who’s pushing the edge the most and trying to get me up there consistently.” “I wouldn’t give it a time limit, if I feel like it’s right I’ll commit right there and then. I’m looking for fit, playing time as a freshman and development.” 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Basketball-recruiting-Michigan-Texas-Florida-State-188765063/Allen says he hasn’t cut down his list of schools yet, but Juwan Howard has made sure the Wolverines stay squarely in the hunt. “Juwan is a great guy,” Allen told TMI. “I actually got to respond to his text right now — he texts me after every game. Even showing up to all the EYBL sessions. What I like about him is more than basketball. He’s just asking me how I’m doing, how my body — makes sure I’m resting, taking care of my body. He rarely talks about basketball so that’s what I like about him.” Georgetown, the lone program which Allen has officially visited that has not since undergone a head coaching change, remains a strong possibility for the Florida prospect. He was on-campus there in April, a month after picking up an offer from the Hoyas. “I’m just trying to see how they play this year and where I can fit into the system, and we’re going to go from there,” he said. Other schools catching Allen’s interest include Michigan, Kansas, Maryland, Florida State and Texas A&M. He has two official visits remaining. Allen isn’t rushing a commitment, though he says “if a school is really bringing that heat, then it can happen.” The four-star, who is transferring from Calvary Christian Academy to Montverde (Fla.) Academy for his senior season, says distance from home won’t be a major factor in his college decision. 247sports.com/college/michigan/Article/Michigan-basketball-recruiting-Marvel-Allen-visit-Juwan-Howard-Fab-Five-188865193/

Dennis Parker, Jr. came in at No. 49 in the recent 2023 Rivals150 update. This ranking makes the Richmond (Va.) John Marshall High small forward, the No. 11 prospect at his position in his class. Even with the 6-foot-6 wing missing most of his time with his Team Loaded (Va.) 3SSB 16u team, Parker, Jr. still carries a lot of interest from college programs. “I currently have offers from NC State, LSU, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Florida, Virginia Tech, Georgetown, Rutgers and a few more,” Parker, Jr. said. “I would say, of my offers, I am hearing the most from NC State, Oklahoma State and Georgetown.” Georgetown: “They are a pretty good program. My boy from Virginia, Mac McClung, started off there. I heard a lot about them from him and his situation, and that got me interested.” “I just came back from injury, so a lot of schools haven’t seen me play in a while,” Parker, Jr. said. “Most of the schools talking to me have offered, but as I keep getting back to myself, maybe more will come over the next year. I have been on visits to Maryland, NC State, and Richmond. I don’t have anything scheduled, right now, until next year.” “I want to go to a program that has great chemistry, a program that is unselfish. On and off the court, I want to go to a coaching staff that will always build you.” basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/four-star-dennis-parker-looking-for-the-right-fitInstrumental in the growth of Parker Jr.'s game were his father and godfather, Milton Bell, a 1988 McDonald's All-American at John Marshall who went on to play for John Thompson's Georgetown program and at the University of Richmond before a professional career that spanned from Europe to South America. “[Milton] is his godfather, but he’s been a father in regards to basketball knowledge, IQ and positivity," Parker Sr. said of his son. "A bunch of people have poured into him. But his decision to play point guard was very interesting, he had to work on his handling skills. It took him two years to get that underneath his belt. ... It ended up being one of the greatest struggles for him. He was a tall guy that just wanted to play, so he would rebound, do all the dirty work. But we always had a vision to be more than just a big guy.” Much more than just a big guy at this juncture of his development, Parker Jr. holds offers from Kansas, LSU, NC State, Xavier and VCU, among myriad programs with strong pedigrees. He's got standout length and defensive commitment as well to augment scoring prowess that ranges from the post to the perimeter. One of Parker Jr.'s favorite pursuits on the court is chasing down opposing offensive players to time and block their shots. Parker Jr. still has "no idea" where he'll study and compete in college, but plans to visit a few schools this year. Out of the abundance of suitors though, he said he's searching for a program that's going to let him be his own person. “I want a school who’s going to take me in for the player I am. I don’t want a school that’s going to take me in and try to change me, change my identity, make me into somebody I’m not. I’ve already changed my game from when I was younger. So why would I want somebody to change it again for me?," Parker Jr. said. "I want a school that will build a relationship up with me. I like relationships with people, it just makes me feel more comfortable with you, and like me telling you what I think about certain things, whether it’s basketball or not basketball.” richmond.com/sports/high-school/dennis-parker-is-the-areas-top-boys-basketball-recruit-and-a-proud-rps-scholar-athlete/article_379cdf9c-1977-5ad1-97f0-d711efcd90a0.htmlDennis Parker, John Marshall A 6-foot-6 wing from Richmond Virginia, Dennis Parker from John Marshall put his stamp on the game in both outings I got to see from the four-star prospect. Michael Nwoko, a 6-foot-10 center, announced an Oklahoma State offer Wednesday, as the Cowboys join a growing list of schools after his services. OSU assistant Larry Blunt has ties to Canada. He was an instrumental piece in founding Orangeville Prep, a top basketball school in Ontario. Nwoko is one of the last four-star prospects in the composite rankings. He is the No. 133 player in those rankings, ranking 27th among centers in the class. His stock has risen the past few months, though. On May 9, Nwoko was considered the No. 189 player in the country. Nwoko boasts offers from Texas A&M, Houston, Tennessee, Georgetown, NC State, Northwestern, Providence, Georgia Tech, Creighton and others. pistolsfiringblog.com/oklahoma-state-offers-four-star-canadian-big-man-michael-nwoko/

Isaiah Abraham proved to be one of the top offensive talents this past weekend at this year's Pangos All- East Freshman/Sophomore camp. While this was my first time seeing Abraham live, he showed his ability to shoot and attack the rim, along with his good size and long arms at 6-foot-6. “Defense wise I've been working on moving my feet against smaller guards,” he said. “On offense I’m working on being more patient and getting to the basket more. I'm just aggressive. I'm going to work hard and play defense.” “Moving forward in my game I feel like there's a lot for me to improve on,” he continued. “I want to improve my IQ , be more patient and just work on everything.” Abraham currently plays at Highlands School in Warrenton, (Va.) where he is set to start his sophomore season. So far he’s already started receiving offers and interest from schools and looks to show people who he is and make a name for himself this season. “So far I've received offers from Georgetown, North Carolina A&T, George Mason, Bowie State, North Texas and interest from Indiana who came to my practice and liked how I played, and George Washington among others.” 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Basketball-recruiting-Isaiah-Abraham-Pangos-Georgetown-George-Mason-North-Texas-173963681/Standing 6-foot-7 with a confident jump shot, it did not take long to notice Isaiah Abraham at the Beach Ball Classic in South Carolina. The Warrenton (Va.) Highland School sophomore scored 19 points and connected on a pair of threes in his team's second-round Beach Ball Classic win. “I am best at getting to my shot,” Abraham told Rivals.com. “Even when I am off a little bit I am going to play hard, in general. I have worked a lot recently on handling the ball with pressure. I am working on getting to my shot coming off screens, reading the defense and making plays off that. I have heard some Paul George comparisons because of my size and how I shoot the ball.” Playing last summer with Team Takeover on Nike’s 15u EYBL circuit brought Abraham a lot of attention from coaches. “I have offers right now from Georgetown, George Mason, NC A&T,” Abraham said. “I have been on visits to Georgetown and George Mason. I went on a visit to Maryland, too. They haven’t offered yet, though.” Georgetown: “They are a really good program. The coaches there have a lot of experience, and they coach their guys hard. They talk about development. Overall, the visit was a really good experience. ... They have talent over there.” George Mason: “Coach Kim English is a really good coach. He is young, so it is a good experience talking with him. I loved my experience there.” WHAT'S NEXT? “Maryland, George Washington and Indiana are schools who have shown some interest,” Abraham said. “I come from a basketball family. My dad, Faisal Abraham, played for Marquette, and my aunt, Tajama (Abraham) Ngongba, played in the WNBA. I am looking for a school that will give me the best opportunity to get to the next level.” basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/isaiah-abraham-s-recruitment-continues-to-trend-upwardAbraham didn’t put up big numbers (6.3 points, 2.5 rebounds) in his PVI debut, but it’ll honestly be tough for anyone to put up big numbers on a squad so talented. The Panthers have multiple players capable of dominating on a given night, and Abraham is one of the most intriguing. The explosive 6-foot-6 Abraham is a highlight waiting to happen in the open court, and gives the Panthers a level of athleticism on the wing that few can match. Look for him to make a big impact as he gets more comfortable, and adds to a list of scholarship offers that currently includes George Mason, Georgetown, Kansas State, Maryland and Virginia Tech. www.dmvelite.com/news_article/show/1230386#.YrSBTgoPvmc.twitter

One of the more intriguing long-term prospects in the class, Akil Watson has a lot of tools to work with given his size, length, and ability to sprint the floor. A 6-foot-9, 200-pound power forward out of Roselle (N.J.) Watson is in the beginning stages of figuring out the schools he is heavily considering within his recruitment. “It has been a really good process because a lot of schools are coming at me,” says Watson. “I just have to take my time and choose wisely to make the right decision for myself.” Holding offers from the likes of Auburn, Connecticut, Creighton, Georgetown, Illinois, Nebraska, St. John’s, and Providence, Watson says Connecticut, North Carolina, and Oklahoma State are the programs that have been on him the hardest. Watson recently completed an unofficial visit to UCONN this weekend. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Akil-Watson-UCONN-Oklahoma-State-North-Carolina-Basketball-Recruiting-173367505/Roselle Catholic forward Akil Watson has shown a lot of improvement as he's off to a good start this high school season. Michigan basketball needs a rim-protecting big man like Kante in the 2023 class and it also needs a guy who can play the two and Marvel Allen, a 6-foot-4 combo guard formerly committed to LSU certainly fits the bill. Allen is going to transfer to Montverde Academy for his senior season of high school and that might not be a bad thing for Michigan as both Caleb Houstan and Zeb Jackson played there. Michigan basketball jumped into the mix with an offer in late March and now in mid-June, Allen told Jamie Shaw of On3 that he’s going to take an official visit to U-M. “I am definitely visiting Michigan/ The vibe of a historic school, the Fab 5. And Juwan (Howard) was a part of that. The tradition is there. He has been in the league; he has that experience. He is a great guy off the court; it is more than basketball. His background knows what it takes to get to the next level.” Howard has shown an ability to get players to the NBA draft as Franz Wagner, Isaiah Livers, Caleb Houstan, and Moussa Diabate have all been drafted in the past two drafts. Regardless of the numbers, Allen would be a take, and with Texas A&M and Florida State also in the mix, as well as Georgetown, this feels like a winnable recruitment. gbmwolverine.com/2022/06/29/michigan-basketball-priority-target-2023-sets-official-visit/

Georgetown, Maryland, Marquette, VCU, Iowa, Kansas State, LSU, Xavier, St. John's, Seton Hall and others have all been in steady pursuit of 6-foot-6 guard Aaron Clark. The NY Rens guard opened eyes during the Nike EYBL Session II in Indiana earlier this off-season, scoring off the ball and also proving he can orchestrate the offensive flow and feed the post. Now at national prep power Brewster Academy (NH), the Class of 2023 Clark is a left handed shot maker with range and a knack for timely, fireball assists. uga.rivals.com/news/hoyas-on-prowl-for-talented-guards

Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne 2023 point guard Lawrent Rice was among the stars on hand this weekend at the Flyin’ To The Hoop event near his hometown of Dayton. The 6-3 Rice had 16 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals but his Wayne team dropped a 52-49 decision to Pickerington North on Saturday. The loss drops the Warriors to 7-5 on the season, although all five of the losses come to teams ranked in the top 15 of the MaxPreps Division I state poll. (The others were to Cincinnati Elder, Fairfield, Kettering Fairmont and rival Centerville.) Rice is ranked as the nation’s No. 130 prospect in the 247Sports Composite rankings. He is No. 18 among combo guards nationally and No. 3 overall in Ohio for 2023. He boasts offers from Louisville, Ohio State, Purdue, Kansas State and West Virginia and has interest from other schools. Speaking after the game on Saturday, Rice said he is ready to name his top seven schools sometime this week. The question is whether Ohio State, which offered Rice in June, will be on that list. Rice said the Buckeyes have slowed down their pursuit of him after receiving a verbal from Kentucky 2023 combo guard George Washington III in early November. The sentiment goes that OSU coach Chris Holtmann and his staff could be prioritizing prospects at other positions in that 2023 class. “With Ohio State, they haven’t been recruiting me the most,” Rice said. “They have a guard in this class from Louisville who committed. Things have kind of slowed down with them.” Asked what schools had been contacting him the most at present, Rice said, “Right now, it’s Louisville, Georgetown, Kansas State, VCU, Notre Dame … there are a lot more. I’m actually coming out with my top seven soon.” 247sports.com/college/notre-dame/Article/Huber-Heights-Wayne-point-guard-Lawrent-Rice-considered-one-of-Ohios-best-for-2023-class-180823467/Below, we take a quick look at key prospects the Ohio State coaches could be tracking during the July observation periods. MR. PRODUCTIVE: Josh Hubbard What he did: Hubbard doesn’t pack the elite measurables as other guards and his lack of length will always hold him back a bit from a recruiting standpoint, but it’s becoming impossible to argue with the 5-foot-11 prospect’s production. The 3,000-point high school scorer was at it again this weekend, going off for 24 points in a high-level game against Team Trae Young and helping lead his Team Thad squad to an undefeated weekend. Hubbard showed off his stroke from deep for the event’s entirety and also showed off a combination of explosiveness and body control that allowed him to get to the rim and finish through much larger defenders. Recruitment: The Mississippi-based guard holds offers from Seton Hall, Georgetown, Kansas State, Houston, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and others. He plans to make a verbal commitment in September. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/cassidy-awards-duel-in-dfwHubbard has taken official visits to LSU (old staff) and Ole Miss and has been to Houston and Mississippi State unoficially. He'll be back at MSU for an official visit next week. More than likely, Hubbard's recruitment is going to end up a showdown between the two in state programs. He's even got a decision date in mind so the battle is on for the next few months. "I've chosen a date of September 22nd so pretty soon but not too far away," said Hubbard. "There's not really any significance to the date I just wanted to set something so I would do it before the season. I'll look at their playing style and if I will fit in because I want to play fast and physical. The culture of the program and the coaching staff will be important. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/College-basketball-recruiting-Josh-Hubbard-Ole-Miss-Mississippi-State-188558142/Ole Miss is also emerging as the leader for Madison, Miss., four-star guard Josh Hubbard. Hubbard has more than a dozen offers, including overtures from Houston, Mississippi State, LSU, Kansas State and Georgetown. There are questions about Hubbard's game based strictly on the level of high school competition, but he's played a ton for Team Thad and that should silence those doubts. olemiss.rivals.com/news/mccready-10-weekend-thoughts-presented-by-gamechanger-patch-co--48

Interesting. I wonder if they are limiting their high school recruiting to focus on the transfer market. I assume they have one or two under-the-radar targets like always.
