Justin Edwards | SF | Imhotep Charter Updated Ranking: No. 11 Overall Previous Ranking: No. 56 Overall Difference: +45 Coming in as the co-biggest stock riser in this 2023 update is Justin Edwards, who has found himself skyrocketing up 45 spots. While he currently slots as the No. 11 prospect, a case can certainly be made that the 6-foot-7 wing is a top ten caliber player. He had a terrific spring and summer and played his way up onto the Team Final U17 roster, adding some minutes into their Peach Jam Title efforts. He's got plus-size, length and athleticism and is one of the more skilled, polished and well-rounded wings in the class. He consistently produces and impacts the game in a variety of ways from his defense, to rebounding, to his three-level scoring and to his passing. Edwards holds offers from Auburn, UConn, DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette and Penn State amongst others with UConn being a team to keep an eye on and Kentucky also showing interest. 247sports.com/LongFormArticle/Top-ten-risers-2023-Top150-Rankings-Mackenzie-Mgbako-Matas-Buzelis-GG-Jackson-Justin-Edwards-Kylan-Boswell-Reed-Sheppard-173025735/#173025735_4John Calipari and his staff will host another 5-star visitor in a few weeks, as 2023 wing Justin Edwards will be coming to Lexington to check out campus. Joe Tipton of On3 reports that Edwards has scheduled an official visit for the weekend of Nov. 18th. Edwards recruitment has gained a lot of steam over the last few months, as he got to showcase his skillset next to Jalen Duren and Dereck Lively Jr. as part of the Team Final squad that won Peach Jam this AAU season. With that, he’s accumulated quite a few offers in the last several months including Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, Virginia, UConn, Georgetown, Oklahoma State, and several others. At 6-foot-7 and 180 pounds, Edwards has great length and athleticism, which help him be a factor on both sides of the floor. On offense, he is able to score it from all three-levels, while also showing solid ball handling skills to take his man off the dribble or push the ball in transition. He also shows all the tools to be a solid defensive piece, alongside a fantastic work ethic to continue to get better. www.aseaofblue.com/2021/11/3/22759925/justin-edwards-kentucky-basketballJustin Edwards (No. 16 247Sports Composite, 6-7, Philadelphia (Pa.) The battle for No. 1 is wide open and there is going to be a lot of movement up and down the list. Already ranked No. 11 nationally, 6-foot-7 small forward Justin Edwards is one who could be making a move. Should he move, it will likely be upward as the five-star showed why he’s one of the elite players in the junior class. A long and slender lefty, Edwards has always been impressive because of his combination of size, ability to get to spots and upside as an athletic slasher who can drain jump shots. The size and athleticism are still there, but the Philadelphia (Pa.) Imhotep wing’s shooting, efficiency, and ability to crate offense off the dribble have all improved since the summer of 2021. He was limited due to some foul trouble early in the second quarter, but nobody else in the gym did things in the way that he did during a very efficient 17 point and seven rebound effort during a win over a competitive bunch from St. Louis (Mo.) Vashon. Auburn, Connecticut, Kentucky, Maryland, Miami, Penn State and Tennessee have been among the most involved and there isn’t anything new to report since he last updated his recruitment just before Christmas. Talk has been that Kentucky is in good position, but Edwards said again that he’s in no hurry to make any kind of decision. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/LongFormArticle/Basketball-recruiting-Highland-Shootout-Justin-Edwards-John-Bol-Dai-Dai-Ames-Morez-Johnson-Jevon-Porter-180183180/#180183180_1

Isaiah Abraham InterviewN/A - NATL - ST - POS ISAIAH ABRAHAM UNDECIDED 6'7" | 180 LBS | SF | 2023 HIGHLAND WARRENTON, VA Isaiah Abraham had somewhat of a breakout performance at the 2021 Beach Ball Classic. The Warrenton (Va.) Highland School sophomore averaged 12.7 points while showing length, athleticism and deft three-point shooting ability. After watching him play, we were able to catch up with him for an introductory type of conversation. On his game: “Getting to my shot. Shooting the ball would be my best attribute, and playing hard in general. I’ve worked hard at my ball handling over the last few months. I am getting better at shooting off screens and reading the defense. I watch a lot of Paul George.” On his offers: “Georgetown, George Mason, NC A&T. I have visited Georgetown and George Mason. I have also visited Maryland, but they haven’t offered me yet.” On Georgetown: “They are a good program. I like the way the coaches coach their players, and they have a lot of experience over there. They have good overall organization. They have a lot of size on their team too.” On George Mason: “Coach Kim (English) is a really good coach. He is young too, so he made it a really cool experience. I loved it over there.” On schools that have not offered, but he hears from a lot: “Maryland, George Washington, Indiana have shown some interest.” Do you have any hoopers in your family? “My dad, Faisal Abraham, played at Marquette. My aunt also played in the WNBA.” On what he is looking for at the next level: “Any opportunity that will help grow me, grow my game and help get me to my dream of playing at that next level.” His father played locally at Kecoughtan at the same time Iverson was at Bethel. Faisal played when 6' 7" was an interior force in high school. Coming from a basketball family would be an asset to the program. His grandfather Ralph, played at St. John's and his aunt, Tajama, played at George Washington and the WNBA. I remember Ralph Abraham at St. John's. Played hs basketball in NYC.

Another 6'2" 3-star PG? From Michigan? Is he better than potential 2023 3-star 6'2" PG prospects from the DMV?

Isaiah Abraham proved to be one of the top offensive talents this past weekend at this year's Pangos All- East Freshman/Sophomore camp. While this was my first time seeing Abraham live, he showed his ability to shoot and attack the rim, along with his good size and long arms at 6-foot-6. “Defense wise I've been working on moving my feet against smaller guards,” he said. “On offense I’m working on being more patient and getting to the basket more. I'm just aggressive. I'm going to work hard and play defense.” “Moving forward in my game I feel like there's a lot for me to improve on,” he continued. “I want to improve my IQ , be more patient and just work on everything.” Abraham currently plays at Highlands School in Warrenton, (Va.) where he is set to start his sophomore season. So far he’s already started receiving offers and interest from schools and looks to show people who he is and make a name for himself this season. “So far I've received offers from Georgetown, North Carolina A&T, George Mason, Bowie State, North Texas and interest from Indiana who came to my practice and liked how I played, and George Washington among others.” 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Basketball-recruiting-Isaiah-Abraham-Pangos-Georgetown-George-Mason-North-Texas-173963681/Standing 6-foot-7 with a confident jump shot, it did not take long to notice Isaiah Abraham at the Beach Ball Classic in South Carolina. The Warrenton (Va.) Highland School sophomore scored 19 points and connected on a pair of threes in his team's second-round Beach Ball Classic win. “I am best at getting to my shot,” Abraham told Rivals.com. “Even when I am off a little bit I am going to play hard, in general. I have worked a lot recently on handling the ball with pressure. I am working on getting to my shot coming off screens, reading the defense and making plays off that. I have heard some Paul George comparisons because of my size and how I shoot the ball.” Playing last summer with Team Takeover on Nike’s 15u EYBL circuit brought Abraham a lot of attention from coaches. “I have offers right now from Georgetown, George Mason, NC A&T,” Abraham said. “I have been on visits to Georgetown and George Mason. I went on a visit to Maryland, too. They haven’t offered yet, though.” Georgetown: “They are a really good program. The coaches there have a lot of experience, and they coach their guys hard. They talk about development. Overall, the visit was a really good experience. ... They have talent over there.” George Mason: “Coach Kim English is a really good coach. He is young, so it is a good experience talking with him. I loved my experience there.” WHAT'S NEXT? “Maryland, George Washington and Indiana are schools who have shown some interest,” Abraham said. “I come from a basketball family. My dad, Faisal Abraham, played for Marquette, and my aunt, Tajama (Abraham) Ngongba, played in the WNBA. I am looking for a school that will give me the best opportunity to get to the next level.” basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/isaiah-abraham-s-recruitment-continues-to-trend-upward

That being said, both Kwame Evans Jr. and Mackenzie Mgbako who check in at No. 2 and No. 3 in the updated ranking are hot on his heels. A product of Baltimore who has transferred to loaded Montverde (Fla.) Academy for his junior season, Evans could be the most naturally gifted player in the class. Pushing 6-foot-10 at this point, he’s a skilled combo forward who can shoot with range, cover ridiculous ground on defense and he’s just scratching the surface. He’s also inconsistent. If he’s able to figure it all out, it may be tough to deny his claim to the No. 1 spot. Auburn, George Washington (where his father is a hall of famer) Georgetown, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Memphis, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas and USC are just a few of the 20 plus programs who have already offered scholarships. 247sports.com/Article/Dajuan-Wagner-Jr-holds-on-to-the-No-1-spot-in-the-updated-2023-rankings-173005099/Montverde Academy forward Kwame Evans will be releasing his top schools in the near future. The 6-foot-9 forward is currently ranked the No. 2 overall prospect in the class of 2023 and has visited Kentucky with plans on visiting USC, Texas, and Duke as of right now. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Basketball-recruiting-247sports-Kwame-Evans-Holiday-Hoopsgiving-Kentucky-Duke-USC-Duke-Texas--176683658/One of the most promising prospects in the class of 2023, KJ Evans doesn’t lack options. He holds offers from major programs that span conferences and time zones, but the five-star forward’s interest seems particularly piqued by three programs. On Saturday, Evans says he hopes to visit Oregon, Texas and Indiana in the coming months. Evans has been in frequent contact with all three programs and intends to finalize dates for trips as the high school season winds down. And while it will be up to the schools’ respective coaching staffs to ultimately land Evans’ commitment, the Hoosiers and Longhorns have help in the form of Evans’ teammates Indiana pledge Jalen Hood-Schifino and Texas signee Dillon Mitchell. “Jalen just tells me it’s really nice there and I’d like it at Indiana,” Evans said. “It’s the same with Dillon and Texas, too. They stay on me.” basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/cassidy-s-takeaways-hoophall-classic

Seems like we are in really good shape with Olafioye with a decision coming soon. Would be nice to get a top priority guard signed up early and would likely let us focus on the wings/frontcourt.
Class of 2023 point guard Malik Olafioye has narrowed down his list to seven schools. Olafioye will be choosing between Houston, Georgetown, Mississippi State, UNLV, Oakland, Rhode Island, and Arizona State with a decision expected soon. Olafioye has already visited Georgetown, Arizona State, Oakland and still working on visiting the rest of the schools in his top seven
“I chose these schools because of the interest they have in me, and because they fit my game. I will be making my decision soon.”
Georgetown: “Georgetown Coach Patrick Ewing, and coach Kirby are very cool coaches. My dad and I went on a visit in the summer and it felt like we were sitting with family. Not taking anything away from any of the other coaches, but it’s a great environment to play in. Coach Pat lets his guards run the show. They won the Big East tournament last year and his point guard was the MVP. That says a lot.”

Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne 2023 point guard Lawrent Rice was among the stars on hand this weekend at the Flyin’ To The Hoop event near his hometown of Dayton. The 6-3 Rice had 16 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals but his Wayne team dropped a 52-49 decision to Pickerington North on Saturday. The loss drops the Warriors to 7-5 on the season, although all five of the losses come to teams ranked in the top 15 of the MaxPreps Division I state poll. (The others were to Cincinnati Elder, Fairfield, Kettering Fairmont and rival Centerville.) Rice is ranked as the nation’s No. 130 prospect in the 247Sports Composite rankings. He is No. 18 among combo guards nationally and No. 3 overall in Ohio for 2023. He boasts offers from Louisville, Ohio State, Purdue, Kansas State and West Virginia and has interest from other schools. Speaking after the game on Saturday, Rice said he is ready to name his top seven schools sometime this week. The question is whether Ohio State, which offered Rice in June, will be on that list. Rice said the Buckeyes have slowed down their pursuit of him after receiving a verbal from Kentucky 2023 combo guard George Washington III in early November. The sentiment goes that OSU coach Chris Holtmann and his staff could be prioritizing prospects at other positions in that 2023 class. “With Ohio State, they haven’t been recruiting me the most,” Rice said. “They have a guard in this class from Louisville who committed. Things have kind of slowed down with them.” Asked what schools had been contacting him the most at present, Rice said, “Right now, it’s Louisville, Georgetown, Kansas State, VCU, Notre Dame … there are a lot more. I’m actually coming out with my top seven soon.” 247sports.com/college/notre-dame/Article/Huber-Heights-Wayne-point-guard-Lawrent-Rice-considered-one-of-Ohios-best-for-2023-class-180823467/

One of the more intriguing long-term prospects in the class, Akil Watson has a lot of tools to work with given his size, length, and ability to sprint the floor. A 6-foot-9, 200-pound power forward out of Roselle (N.J.) Watson is in the beginning stages of figuring out the schools he is heavily considering within his recruitment. “It has been a really good process because a lot of schools are coming at me,” says Watson. “I just have to take my time and choose wisely to make the right decision for myself.” Holding offers from the likes of Auburn, Connecticut, Creighton, Georgetown, Illinois, Nebraska, St. John’s, and Providence, Watson says Connecticut, North Carolina, and Oklahoma State are the programs that have been on him the hardest. Watson recently completed an unofficial visit to UCONN this weekend. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Akil-Watson-UCONN-Oklahoma-State-North-Carolina-Basketball-Recruiting-173367505/Roselle Catholic forward Akil Watson has shown a lot of improvement as he's off to a good start this high school season. Watson has improved his three point shooting and rebounds well for his position. On the recruitment side of things Watson has started to hear from USC, UCLA, Virginia, with Illinois, Auburn,Maryland, Georgetown and Oregon still in the mix. “I have no planned visits but I look to take some towards the end of the season,” he said. “I definitely want to visit USC, UCLA and Miami.” 247sports.com/college/uconn/Article/Basketball-recruiting-Illinois-UConn-Miami-181117965/
