2023 small forward prospect Makhi Myles got a taste of varsity basketball a year ago and earned a starting spot for Starkville High School. Nearing the midway point of his junior season, Myles has taken his game to another level this season. On the recruiting scene, Myles has collected offers from Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Southern Miss and Louisiana-Monroe. He noted of other programs that has expressed interest, of late. "No new offers lately," said Myles. "But I am starting to pick up interest from a lot of different schools. Alabama and Georgetown have started to show a lot of interest and so far, all of those schools are recruiting me as a wing." Myles' first offer came from a school nearby in Mississippi State. He grew up in a Mississippi State family and noted of his recent talks with Bulldog assistant George Brooks. "It's been going pretty good with Mississippi State," said Myles. "They are showing a lot of interest in me and they've been here to see me play. I like their program and they have good player development. I like Coach Brooks and I like talking to him. I like how they've put together a good team this year." Not long after the Bulldogs offered Myles, Ole Miss followed suit. Myles has taken unofficial visits to Mississippi State and Ole Miss, and he is also fond of the Rebels' program. "It's about the same with Ole Miss," said Myles. "I like their program a lot, too. It's a nice program with good players and a good system." hoyatalk2.proboards.com/thread/31549/2023-recruiting-thread?page=20

Dennis Parker, Jr. came in at No. 49 in the recent 2023 Rivals150 update. This ranking makes the Richmond (Va.) John Marshall High small forward, the No. 11 prospect at his position in his class. Even with the 6-foot-6 wing missing most of his time with his Team Loaded (Va.) 3SSB 16u team, Parker, Jr. still carries a lot of interest from college programs. “I currently have offers from NC State, LSU, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Florida, Virginia Tech, Georgetown, Rutgers and a few more,” Parker, Jr. said. “I would say, of my offers, I am hearing the most from NC State, Oklahoma State and Georgetown.” Georgetown: “They are a pretty good program. My boy from Virginia, Mac McClung, started off there. I heard a lot about them from him and his situation, and that got me interested.” “I just came back from injury, so a lot of schools haven’t seen me play in a while,” Parker, Jr. said. “Most of the schools talking to me have offered, but as I keep getting back to myself, maybe more will come over the next year. I have been on visits to Maryland, NC State, and Richmond. I don’t have anything scheduled, right now, until next year.” “I want to go to a program that has great chemistry, a program that is unselfish. On and off the court, I want to go to a coaching staff that will always build you.” basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/four-star-dennis-parker-looking-for-the-right-fitInstrumental in the growth of Parker Jr.'s game were his father and godfather, Milton Bell, a 1988 McDonald's All-American at John Marshall who went on to play for John Thompson's Georgetown program and at the University of Richmond before a professional career that spanned from Europe to South America. “[Milton] is his godfather, but he’s been a father in regards to basketball knowledge, IQ and positivity," Parker Sr. said of his son. "A bunch of people have poured into him. But his decision to play point guard was very interesting, he had to work on his handling skills. It took him two years to get that underneath his belt. ... It ended up being one of the greatest struggles for him. He was a tall guy that just wanted to play, so he would rebound, do all the dirty work. But we always had a vision to be more than just a big guy.” Much more than just a big guy at this juncture of his development, Parker Jr. holds offers from Kansas, LSU, NC State, Xavier and VCU, among myriad programs with strong pedigrees. He's got standout length and defensive commitment as well to augment scoring prowess that ranges from the post to the perimeter. One of Parker Jr.'s favorite pursuits on the court is chasing down opposing offensive players to time and block their shots. Parker Jr. still has "no idea" where he'll study and compete in college, but plans to visit a few schools this year. Out of the abundance of suitors though, he said he's searching for a program that's going to let him be his own person. “I want a school who’s going to take me in for the player I am. I don’t want a school that’s going to take me in and try to change me, change my identity, make me into somebody I’m not. I’ve already changed my game from when I was younger. So why would I want somebody to change it again for me?," Parker Jr. said. "I want a school that will build a relationship up with me. I like relationships with people, it just makes me feel more comfortable with you, and like me telling you what I think about certain things, whether it’s basketball or not basketball.” richmond.com/sports/high-school/dennis-parker-is-the-areas-top-boys-basketball-recruit-and-a-proud-rps-scholar-athlete/article_379cdf9c-1977-5ad1-97f0-d711efcd90a0.html

“The relationships I have with the coaches like Coach (Robert) Kirby, that’s my guy. When I wasn’t playing with my injury, they came to see me at my house because they couldn’t make the practice. I just loved it there.”
