I mean wasn’t Capel a huge cheater at Oklahoma? Glass houses... FWIW, Capel exonerated but fired at the end of the season anyway. Former Oklahoma men's basketball assistant coach Oronde Taliaferro committed two major infractions, but school officials are asking the NCAA for leniency that self imposed sanctions should be the only penalty. Oklahoma did not lack institutional control, according to a 438-page summary disposition report that was released Thursday following a 15-month investigation. Former head coach Jeff Capel was found of no wrong doing. OU officials have asked the NCAA to place the men's basketball program on two more years probation and vacate all wins from the 13-18 season two years ago. Capel compiled a 96-69 record in five seasons at OU but was fired days after the 2010-11 season. www.oklahoman.com/article/3589585/oklahoma-admits-2-major-violations-in-mens-hoops

That's why I assume OK fired him despite the NCAA finding but OK had the stink on them from Kelvin Sampson as well.

I don’t believe Al Capone only committed tax evasion either. 😉

Putting aside the rule breaking, LSU is a much better program than Pittsburgh, its not close in my opinion...
Whether he got more than a scholly out of it who knows but basketball wise he made the right choice...

Whether he got more than a scholly out of it who knows but basketball wise he made the right choice... how can you make that claim when from what we know both programs are playing the same game but under very different rules. Until we find out that Pitt is buying players as well, then your statement comparing the two programs will be true...

I'm not at all surprised that a player would choose LSU over Pittsburgh...

I can't argue with your beliefs. But factually there is no way to make that statement. Wade has had a lot of talent as has not done much with it during his tenure at L$U. Capel has not had near the talent that Wage has had. Wage has gotten a lot of that talent by breaking the rules bt paying players. His words. To our knowledge, Capel has not. If he has, then he should be fired for misappropriation of funds. So it's not fair to make that comparison. Once again one coach is cheating to get the better record so you can't say he's better then the other coaches that are trying to do it the legit way.

Very difficult to understand how anybody could defend Jeff Capel’s coaching ability...

Wade has won an SEC regular season title & finished 2nd or 3rd in other years. He has a sweet 16 appearance too, he's done well there on the court wise... Capel is starting from scratch basically going into his 4th season at Pittsburgh... In fairness Pitt was in terrible shape when he took over but he hasn't done a good job building a program in my view...

As far as we know Capel isn't paying players. Because Wage is cheating and paying players, he had access to much much more talented players than Capel has had which in turn has made Wage's level of success easier to attain than Capel. In no way am I saying one coach is better then the other. I'm saying it's not fair making that comparison when one is a self admitted cheater.

I have no problem saying Self or Pearl are better coaches than Capel or Wade... In my view at the end of the day you have to get a much as possible out of the players you have, Capel has done a poor job at that so far at Pitt... Plus watching his team play is not inspiring at all...

Last I checked, with all the cheating, Wage much like Sean Miller hasn't done much in March. Definitely not a good return on their money for L$U. Once again I'm not saying either coach Wage or Capel are good. For the talent Wage has had access to, the results are blah...
