LET’S CHECK BACK ON THIS GUY IN FIVE YEARS Efton Reid is ranked outside the top 50 in the national composite rankings for the class of 2021 but it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if that changes over the next year. The 7-footer from Virginia was an eye-catcher at the NBPA Top 100 camp. And it wasn’t just college teams. Some of the NBA brass that was on hand liked what they saw from the big man. Camp settings are hard for big men to really shine but Reid made the most of it and showed why he’s probably going to rise in the rankings sooner than later. hoopseen.com/news/event/201906/five-more-standouts-nbpa-top-100-camp

Loved seeing the pics of him with coach Ewing....hes certainly a big-time talent in Richmond that the staff will continue to pursue.

As the fall rolls on, and it gets closer and closer to the beginning of the 2019-20 season, Kentucky's coaches are still out on the road reinforcing their interest with the older recruits while making introductions to newer ones. Put Efton Reid in the latter group. The four-star center from Richmond, Virginia is ranked No. 34 in the 2021 Class by Rivals. He is now getting blue blooded interest from the likes of Kentucky, North Carolina, and Duke. Reid told us he has over twenty offers which he will go public with at a later time, but Florida, Rutgers, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Virginia Commonwealth are just a few that are believed to have offered. Q: I can tell from speaking with you that you are an incredibly intelligent young man. How important is the educational aspect of it? Reid: "The educational part is really important to me because my mom has always told me since I was young boy that I was going to college no matter what you do. It's just a very important piece for me and her because the ball is going to stop bouncing at some point, so if I get blessed with the opportunity ro play at the next level in the NBA and make millions of dollars, after the ball stops bouncing I want to fall back on my degree and continue to do what I want to do in life." kentucky.rivals.com/news/efton-reid-gets-and-in-home-visit-from-kentucky

other schools prioritizing him are Iowa State, Wake, NC State, Miami, UVA, Louisville, Ohio St.
Also, this post lists him as a 4-star, but for what it's worth, he's a 5 star in ESPN's new rankings released today (and #14 overall for the 2021 class)

That would be a huge coup. Seems like a smart kid and values his education. He's physically ready to move up to college. That post though says PF, I thought he was a C? Could he be paired with Wahab, Tim, Malcom?

I don't know what it is, but when I first saw the guy he just gave off really strong Hoya vibes. Seems like the type of guy who would really fit what we're trying to get done here. Same energy as Otto if that makes sense. Would absolutely love to have him.

Could he be paired with Wahab, Tim, Malcom? He looks like a center in highlights. I'm making my own assumption but I don't think Ewing feels Tim and Wilson can contribute at a high level for 2020.

Also mentioned in the article: "he’s going to let the schools know by the end of the week which one he plans on doing" (in regards to potential reclassification) Here's a quote that I really like both about him as a person, and also our chances of landing him “I’m looking for a family atmosphere first because if my family not right I’m not right. I’m looking for the right fit, a system where I’m running up and down the court, getting touches, etc, and I’m looking for a relationship with the Head Coach and the assistants because I want to feel at home like I do at Steward School. And I just want to have fun too.” While he doesn’t care to publicize all of his recruitment, there’s no mistaking that he’s one of the most sought after big men in the country. His blend of size, skill and IQ makes him an easy guy to coach and play with, and when it comes time to make his decision he’s going to make one program very happy. www.prephoops.com/2020/01/recruiting-report-efton-reid-2021-2/

Sounds like he could slide into the role Yurt7 is playing this season.

I have a good feeling about this for absolutely no legitimate reason...

Sounds like he could slide into the role Yurt7 is playing this season. Do we really need another guy to cower in fear when presented with a physical challenge?
