Will White Privilege Wade When are they gonna lock this guy up With the NCAA finally starting to come down on a few of the other obvious cheating programs, you would think it is just a matter of time before LSU gets punished. I would think kids have to be aware of that looming issue, but maybe the incentive is so big to go to LSU, and they think they are only going to be there for a year anyways, then they overlook the worst kept secret in college basketball.

Recruitments like this really underscore how difficult things are for the Georgetown’s and Virginia’s of the world who want to be nationally competitive, adhere to the rules, and make players do challenging school work.

Virginia has been very successful and national champions in recent times, and does not need players like him to be so. They have a formula for success that works. Georgetown should not be lumped with UVa just yet.

Georgetown should not be lumped with UVa just yet. Was more lumping us in with UVa in terms of a smaller pool of prospects than other teams with high aspirations. Clearly, Bennett and UVa have been much more successful navigating these difficulties. Reid is a Richmond kid who the Cavs had been on for a while and a school with far less success in a different region came in relatively late to get the commitment. I do think GU has done a better job recently of prioritizing realistic prospects. Local kids like Brumbaugh and Ward are good players who shouldn’t be attracting the more nefarious programs.

In another sense, it is easier. Virginia gets selfless kids that play hard. Guys who aren't of that ilk tend to weed themselves out. It has happened in a similar yet gradual manner here at G-town. The difference is that Bennett had previous head coaching experience and Ewing did not have that experience. Bennett knew who he was when arrived at Virginia. Ewing has grown into the job and in year 4 won the Big East tournament championship. When Bennett was first hired, it was a head scratcher to most because his lack of ties to recruiting on the east coast coming from Wash St. I would say he has done just fine with his way of doing things.

UVA is a public school and almost twice the size of GU. ACC/ESPN affiliation. Not apples to apples.

In the absence of evidence it is shameful to suggest Reid took money.

In the absence of evidence it is shameful to suggest Reid took money. Nobody is critical of the players. Accepting money or other benefits to attend a school isn’t illegal. There is ample evidence of how LSU and some others operate.

In the absence of evidence it is shameful to suggest Reid took money. It is not shameful to point out that he made a last minute change to attend a school with a documented history of making strong ass offers. I may have been born on a Tuesday, but not last Tuesday.

In the absence of evidence it is shameful to suggest Reid took money. Meh, his choice, he's got to live with the consequences. It's not just us, all of twitter assumes he was paid.

I still wonder how much LSU paid Waters. He went there in a hurry out of nowhere.

If he didn't want there to be an implication of under the table benefits, he could have not gone to play for the coach who's on tape saying he offers under the table benefits

Why is the NCAA investigation taking forever? EDIT: Upon further reflection, is it possible that the FBI asked the NCAA to delay its investigation pending completion of the criminal probe? In August 2020, ESPN.com obtained a document from NCAA enforcement asserting that Wade "arranged for, offered and/or provided impermissible payments, including cash payments, to at least 11 men's basketball prospective student-athletes, their family members, individuals associated with the prospects and/or nonscholastic coaches in exchange for the prospects' enrollment at LSU." www.si.com/.amp/college/2021/03/25/will-wade-lsu-basketball-fbi-scandal-investigation

He is of no interest to me at all henceforth. I don’t wish him ill; I simply don’t care what happens in his career.

I expect the NCAA will take a deep deep look into his recruitment. Would not be surprised if he doesn't at minimum miss some games before the eligibility center clears him....if they ever do. Where there is smoke, there is 🔥
