Marquette lost by 2 with Marcus Howard shooting 1-15. His shooting was no surprise since he reinsured his wrist in the first half Dan, how much did he insure his wrist for? With Lloyds of London, I assume. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

It sickens me this mediocre Villanova team will win the regular season and tournament title this year. And I fear they’ll only be better again next year.
We didn’t have the horses this year but I’m disappointed that Marquette or St Johns couldn’t mount a better challenge. Both choked on the opportunity.

Would anybody mind if our guys eventually played like Seton Hall--toughness was once a Hoya hallmark? I'm disappointed that they didn't win and feel that they deserved to. They're something of a model for how a private Eastern Catholic school can compete. Rooting for them in the tournament. 'Nova not so much.

It is going to be a challenging conference next year—this should have been a down year for both Seton Hall and Villanova — they each lost 4 starters — Marquette brings back everyone — Creighton and Xavier each bring back most key players — Providence, DePaul will be improved — St. John’s is only team I see taking step back talent wise

Samuels has really played well recently for Nova. He has been a great rebounder, and is even knocking down some 3s. I think Samuels, Bey, Gillespie - they'll be the upperclass core for Villanova next year. Not as good as their stars of the past few seasons, but still solid players. The key will be whether another current freshman develops for them, and if some of the highly touted freshmen can step right in and compete.
My guess: they'll struggle some early because their upperclass guys are not shot creators. But as the freshmen gain experience - if one or two of them step forward as guys who can make plays off the dribble, they will be right there battling for the top of the league again.
I really, really hope Powell leaves for pro basketball rather than returning to Seton Hall. I have zero interest in playing against that guy again, he was pretty darn terrifying offensively down the final stretch of this season.

I find myself rooting against Creighton, Butler and Xavier. Not interested in the newcomers and glad they weren’t in the finals.

Man I wanted The Hall to win that game.

I wanted SHU to win as well. Wright is really a class act, he has his players playing in control (rarely the nasty like some Big East teams), but I still do not like Nova to win. Again, the fouls were a question mark, but I have to admit the Nova rebounds well both on defense and offense as much as I don't like ti.

SHU can be a second weekend team, even if on the 8/9 line. Hope Willard goes easy on them the next few days because they looked pretty exhausted.
If I were SJU right now I'd be worried about the 1 seed in the NIT w this Pac 12 Championship result.

They typically give it to the best player on the winning team these days. Not sure I fully agree with the philosophy.

Some players will declare early for the draft and recruiting is not done, so pecking order for next year is still uncertain. Let’s say we land Anthony, folks would probably slot us up.

In case anyone was wondering if the ACC or BIG 10 were threats to take over NYC in March, seems the new Big East is just as popular as the old one: ExcerptNEW YORK – March 16, 2019 – For the 37th consecutive season, the BIG EAST Conference and Madison Square Garden proved to be a marquee pairing. The 2019 BIG EAST Men’s Basketball Tournament concluded on Saturday night with a 74-72 Villanova victory over Seton Hall, in front of a record sellout crowd of 19,812 – making it the fourth session of the week to post a full sellout. The four sellouts in five sessions during the championship week are a first for the BIG EAST Conference. www.bigeast.com/news/2019/3/16/mens-basketball-2019-big-east-championship-caps-banner-attendance-week.aspx

Thursday afternoon was the only non-sellout, and it was only a couple of hundred short. Even for a rebuilding year for most of the conference, this was a fantastic atmosphere. I also checked out all of the local news coverage from the hotel last night. Every station led their sports report with the Big East, and none of them showed highlights from any other college game. This is clearly still the main event in New York. Hope we can sell every ticket next year. And if anyone is considering making the trip, this event is great even when we’re a mess. Imagine what it will be like when we actually win a game again!

Add two BE championships for Villanova and it looks bad for the BE. From here on out, it’s Villanova vs the rest. Villanova has officially become that UConn/Syracuse team.
