I see his conference stats and realize why he wasn’t first team all BE, but having watched Mamukelashvili a few games this month, I might take him over any other center in the conference Govan > him...

I know you meant those who played but, Yurtseven will be the best center on any BE team. I'm firmly on the Yurtseven bandwagon. Dude's going to be a BEAST.

Finally on a train out of NYC. That was the most poorly officiated game I’ve seen since Michael Graham avoided ejection despite throwing a punch. Both teams had a chance to win the game at the foul line and shot horribly. That referee crew can’t be allowed to work a big game together again.

So much for a wild parity driven affair in this tournament. Potentially a final of 1 vs 2 with the higher seeded team winning all 8 games. Not so fast, Dave.

Agreed in terms of talent, but not in terms of performance in conference play. Govan was too uneven.

Wojo put it more succinctly into a live mike on the FS1 broadcast just prior to halftime: “that’s f-ing bullsh-t!” Hate to say that I agree with him but I do. Big East officiating has been crap all year and now it clearly influenced the outcome of a semifinal game. Of course, this is not limited to the Big East:

Holy mackerel. I didn't see the melee live but I just watched a replay. Having heard that 3 guys were ejected I was expecting a punch throwing, bench clearly brawl. Instead I saw a little shoving and bad mouthing that I've seen dozens of times in games this year. No way that deserved the insane reaction from the refs. Very sad that they ruined what was shaping up to be a really great BET game.

That said maybe it’s easier to tell when you can hear what the guys are saying too. Mamu’s was the most egregious since he wasn’t even involved in the play.

Tend to agree but i dont have too much pity for Marquette. Pretty much every time Howard was touched in the last 5 minutes, he went to the line. I give Seton Hall a lot of credit because they kept scoring regardless.

The other bright side of the Seton Hall loss is that it pretty much locks in a 3rd bid for the conference. Keep in mind the more NCAA bids and the further everyone gets the more money the conference gets so it’s important for that reason too.

Marquette lost by 2 with Marcus Howard shooting 1-15. His shooting was no surprise since he reinsured his wrist in the first half

I think the Hall +4 1/2 is a very nice wager. Strictly for entertainment purposes, of course.

He shoved a player who was in mid air. It’s about the dirtiest play you can make in basketball. I remember a few years ago Grayson Allen did it to one of our players - should have been tossed, I think. That said, I think at most John should have been ejected; not the other players. . The rest was just whoofing and jawing. Really poor job by the officials

That play happened right in front of me: Allen, the king of dirty plays, pushed LJ Peak in the back. Peak was incredibly fortunate he did not get injured.

Mamu from SH pushed John in the back after the shove on Powell which coupled with his previous tech got him tossed...

IIRC,the refs reviewed the play for a flagrant foul and called it a common foul. I also recall the Garden replayed the video on the big screen and the shove was as clear as day. That's one reason why people continue to hate Duke -- favorable calls (or more accurately non-call) like that one.

You can’t let somebody not even involved in a scuffle come over and push somebody from behind, even if it’s not hard. That could have easily led to a much bigger fight.
