In their combined second games v Nova and ‘Quette, SHU and GU went a combined 4-0. Now we play SHU Thursday night at 9:30 at MSG. Dang... that is going to be one intense game. So wish I could be in NYC for it, but I’ll be glued to my TV!
Patrick has this team playing exciting basketball and on an upward trajectory!

Fun anomalous historical fact from the ‘81 tournament (which of course DFW knows but others might not). Syracuse won that tournament in the Carrier Dome in triple OT/beat Nova (I think)/huge win for them/players carried off court by fans had yada yada. And the next day HOYAS get a bid to tourney and the Orangemen get squadoosh (because conference had not yet completed two years of play the Big East did not get an automatic bid). The howls from upstate were delicious... We spent the week in that forsaken town... .. and we pulled off the highway to celebrate hearing that non-bid news on the radio on the drive back to DC. I spent some long distance dollars calling my friends in Central New York that night. It may have been the first time in my life that I chortled.

Georgetown is undefeated in MSG this year. Seton Hall isn't a great matchup and a hot Myles Powell is not a good matchup for anyone. Akinjo gets McKnight again, but I dislike the matchup. There a gritty team, just need to hit shots and they are beatable. Could be below 50 in the NET making this a q1 game, which would only help. If Powell isn't able to score, then we can beat them. Hopefully, Mosely is ready for the challenge again. With this team, I have no idea what to expect, just hope for a gritty, tough performance. Need one like today's. We ended up 9-9. We are playing on Thursday. One great game - understandably not a given - and we are in MSG on Friday. It's been a while folks... I have to be in court Friday morning, so I can't overimbibe Thursday night. But Friday? That would be a different story!

I hope our guys get in the gym and really practice those three point shots. If we can get those falling, and with a combination of feeding the big guy down low and Mac driving, we can beat anybody. Govan has to stay out of foul trouble. We need to play smart ball--keep the thing moving, throw in some surprise fake passes--you know, all the little things that can really make a difference.
This is one crazy, wild league!

Can’t come out lethargic Wednesday like we have a tendency to do after big wins this season. My hope is the humiliation from that DePaul loss still has the fire burning bright despite yesterday.
Edit: THURSDAY

If you look at our 12 losses this year, I count 9 that fall in one of two categories (or in some cases both):
Early afternoon start times: SMU, St Johns, at Nova, Butler, at Creighton; plus very narrow escapes against AR LR & PC
Low attendance / limited energy atmosphere: LMU, Marquette, Creighton, at DePaul; plus a very narrow escape against USF
Some of this may seem like cherry picking to fit a narrative, but I do think that this team has played better in higher energy environments (at Illinois, BE opener at night vs Butler, at St Johns at MSG, primetime at home vs Nova, yesterday at Marquette, etc).
So that being said I think playing at 9:30 is better for this team than 2:30 despite Xavier being a slightly inferior team to Seton Hall. Ultimately we know we can beat or lose to anyone so perhaps other variables like this help in ensuring we get the “good” team to show up at the Garden next week.

Am I right that we were the only BE team to beat a BE team at home in their season closer?
Let Mackinjo loose on Thursday to showcase their talent and attract recruits who will want to play with them. Please Pat don't force Mackinjo to worry about "Feeding the Big Man". Instead, make the Big Man worry about crashing the boards and getting offensive rebounds!

I like this matchup with SH...unless the role players play like they did in Jersey.....Cale, McKnight, Nzei, and Mamuke all play light years better in Jersey than they do away...Powell will show up but Jiggy, James and Morko tired him out in DC.....Not saying we win but its a much better matchup than X, Creighton or even Butler......

I agree. The team played well in big games...including away games. I attribute this to a lack of maturity to be disciplined to play in low energy and early game environment. I also attribute laying eggs after big wins to a lack of maturity. Hopefully, the team learned from the DePaul abomination.

And we leave the teal uniforms home. Navy blue roadies only. Black, while not preferred to blue, is 100x better than teal.

MSG is Patrick's house. Will be interesting to see if alot of neutral New York Knicks fans show up to support the Hoyas.
