JP: 32 mins, 5-10, 3-7 from 3, 8 boards, 3 fouls. Almost one sweet drop pass assist in the lane but Bey fumbled the catch. A couple nice blocks too. He looks like he belongs. McClung: 13 mins, 1-5, 1-3 from 3, 1board, 4 assists. Looked overmatched. www.espn.com/nba-summer/boxscore/_/gameId/401352184To be fair to Mac, besides the 1-5 his stats aren't bad for 13 minutes. Translates to 2 3's 2 boards and 8 assists in 26 minutes (of course that doesn't account for his defensive deficiencies) The concerning part for Mac is that, even when it was clear the game was lost, he still didn't get minutes.

He's playing the "right way" but many are not. He's involved defensively, generally and unselfish offensively, but I have seen seen some. good plays. And, in every game, he busts it down the floor on every offensive possession even though he's, mostly, not getting hit. There's no chance his coaches aren't noticing that and that he's making the right plays. It stands in stark contrast to a lot of the summer league plays and players. His stats could be gaudier but he has to be getting noticed for making smart basketball plays. I think it's more the defensive ability and ability to go from playing small forward/shooting guard to playing power forward and center in defending fast breaks or switches that will make him valuable. And who taught him how to play power forward/defend/and rebound?

13pts, 8rbds, 1blk for Pickett. Ironically (or not so much), Pickett's blocked shot was him coming from the helpside to toss a McClung attempt out of bounds. The Basketball Gods do have a great sense of humor.

It's the same problem he had a Texas Tech. 2nd half of the season, Beard would take him out because he was too much of a defensive liability and then on offense was too much of a black hole being so ball dominant.

13pts, 8rbds, 1blk for Pickett. And the one block was on McClung, sending his garbage into the first row

And who taught him how to play power forward/defend/and rebound? Agree but he's also vastly improved his 3 point shooting. Yes, it's a small sample size but it's also against better competition and he looks really confident. I don't think it's a fluke.

He was a fantastic high school player. He was a very good college player. He's going to have a colorful passport. Sounds like a pretty great life.

Really happy for Jamarko. He seems ready to shoot everything he touched the ball and his shot mechanics look great. Not nearly the rainbow he about back in the day at Georgetown. At the end of the game…nice o see him give Mac a nice big embrace. Those two went into some wars together. Like that they still have a connection.

Hope this kid makes it. Expect he could play himself into a two way contract with the Pistons or someone else, but he needs to play regularly in the G League and not sit at eh end of a 15 man bench. Having trouble finding out what happened to Bile or Blair --anyone know how these kids re doing?
Not certain why anyone still cares about McClung any more than any other kid who transferred out of the program. Hope he realizes his dream but the hype machine around this kid has always overrated his skills and he needs considerable work to even get in the picture for a future in the NBA. For now he remains an uber athletic freak for his size and someone who can occasionally wow the fans with a move to the basket, between long stretches of "ordinary."

What are odds he makes roster? Still kinda low, right? Seems like he will def get a d league spot at this point I would think
I mean, I’ll tear up if he puts all his potential together and makes it in the nba, dreaming of what would have been at gtown…but hope he does well in all seriousness
The clips don’t even surprise me, it’s just more consistent rhan anything he could do at school

That takes patience. He was very active the entire game. He seemed forgotten on offense, but the game came to him. Somebody stopped being selfish and passed him the ball in the right places. I wonder if anyone is in his ear? I'm happy for him. Yes, he looks like he belongs!!!
