We don't really have many options. Pickett needs to play and either mature/improve, or he will get recruited over in short order.
Really glad Blair is looking like a legit Big East player, especially with some more seasoning and confidence.
Mac McClung should help everyone next year, as he will command attention on the perimeter and will be able to push pace, distribute, and take some ball handling pressure off the other guards.

Agree with all the shortcomings mentioned by other posters above and the turnovers are incredibly frustrating, but how about the play last night where Kaleb turns it over and he catches the guy and taps the ball from behind for a steal? Pretty critical moment and a great hustle play

Pickett has 3 rebounds and 12 turnovers in three Big East games. For a guy his size, Pickett just isn't a good rebounder thus far. He's got the worst offensive rebounding numbers of anybody on the team, and his defensive rebounding numbers are weak too (to be fair, a lot of our players are poor rebounders, but many of them are significantly shorter than Pickett). He's also tied with Mulmore for the highest turnover rate on the team. And his defense is suspect. To me, the turnovers are something he can definitely work on and improve with coaching. My biggest concern is his three point shooting. He's 22-67 so far, or 32.8%. Given our recent history of touted "shooters" who cannot actually shoot, I am just worried that it'll never come around. That said, I think he's got a better shooting form that some of those guys (Cameron, Domingo), so I think he can definitely improve. For what it's worth, Otto Porter went from dismal three point shooting his freshman year (22.6%) to very good (42.2%); similarly, Trawick took longer but also improved his outside shooting by senior year. So improvements can definitely happen, and I am hoping Pickett gets there. I am not saying Pickett is going to turn into Porter shooting by his sophomore year, but for me, improvement on his shooting is the key to his keeping his current playing time. In the meantime, he can also work on lessening turnovers and rebounding better. I don't mean any of this in any negative way at all, I think he's got talent and can improve - he's just far from it at the moment. I think Pickett probably gets a bit too many minutes, IF our goal is to maximize our chances of winning every game, as I think Kaleb, Mosely, Blair, and even Walker, offer more right now. That said, I get that Ewing may be trying to get him a lot of early minutes, so that would be a logical explanation for why he's playing so much.

Kids got a nice stroke, so I can see his percentages improve next season. He needs to get stronger and improve his handle. He is so long that when he puts the ball on the floor he is easy to strip.

I anticipate him improving a lot next year. He was a very late addition to this class and did not have a complete off season to work on a strength and conditioning program. I think the staff gets him into the weight room and spends a lot of time on his handle and explosiveness this off season and he comes back next year as a much better player. Not sure how much he improves this year as it seems like the speed of the game, especially Big East games, causes him issues. I am sure all the moves and plays he is trying to make now worked just fine in high school and he is finding it needs to be much letter to work at this level. I am confident he will be a good player for the Hoyas, but it may take another season to start seeing that real improvement.

I suppose he might be the 190 lbs he's listed as on the roster ... but I would guess that he weighs less. The kid is going to fill out and get bigger. He's all upside ... unfortunately we're at the beginning here. I'm optimistic but hope the transformation happens sooner rather than later.

We need someone who can hit a 12-15 foot shot with great reliability. It would also be nice if our bigs did not have to take so many 3s. Either one of those issues would have lead to the two OT games being in the Wing column.

The only players on Georgetown (regardless of playing time) who have had a worse season-ending offensive efficiency than Pickett in the JT3/Ewing era are:
Riyan Williams (2016) Stephen Domingo (2014) Markel Starks (2011) Jeremiah Rivers (2008) Jeremiah Rivers (2007)
(Note: There were a bunch worse in the Esherick era).

Jamarko needs that moment when the game slow down for him. His shot seems out of rhythm because he is forcing it up whenever he has a sliver of opening. Gotta have a short memory and come out ready to play next time.

For what it’s worth, even in the pre game shoot around a lot of Pickett’s practice threes were way off. I think the kid can do much better, and I really hope he can hone his skllls and get it going - if not this season, next season.

He seems athletic, he just needs to drive more and shoot inside to make defenses guard the drive allowing him to score more from deep

Man I hope you guys are right. But you can't succeed at this level if you can't handle the ball and that, rather than scoring ability, is his greatest liability. Getting back to my constant broken record. Guys with his size and athleticism can soar at the high school level pretty easily and look better at that level than they really are. He is going to have to seriously work on dribbling, passing, and overall court vision or he will alway be a liability. Hopefully he will do that in the off season and look better next year (no way he can do that mid season). But if next year at this time we are saying the same things about him then I think we have wasted another scholarship a la Isaac Copeland.

Keep putting in the work on dribbling skills in traffic, mid range game, and 3 accuracy. I hope and think it will click for him. He does remind me a lot of Copeland though. Similar size, very smooth looking player, lots of potential, but hasn't really had all the pieces come together yet.

Seems to me, he has lost confidence. He looks a little like a deer in the headlights. I do believe, though, that he will get it together, if not this year, then next. Right now, he is realizing what it's like to play at a whole new level.
He needs to forget his last outing.
