It's a win so that is a good thing. We really can't get hung up on how ugly the W is because this team will not blowout many teams this year. We were really close to putting this team away in the 1st half but we gave them life. It just would have take a few more stops and a couple of scores and we would have taken their heart. It didn't turn out that way but we hung on for the W. This team does seem able to stop the bleeding when things start going badly. I still like our chances against the majority of the BE.........

Final Thoughts:"Onto Marquette...Happy Holidays" Okay, are you assuming a win over DePaul?? Or did you just miss them on the schedule? We open with them in the BE on Dec. 30. They are up 41-29 over a ranked GW team right now. The craziness of College B-ball. Depaul turrble all year but today all of a sudden looking really good... wow Always liked some of their pieces though

I like how Peak battled through a horrible 1st half to contribute strong at the end. Would have been easy for him to get frustrated and sulk but he stuck with it. That and the W is about all I liked. The defense seemed a bit better in the second half...
On second thought, Derrickson hit some beautiful shots too. He continues to be a bright spot.

Is anyone impressed?
We were lucky. If Charlotte shoots free throws half decently, we lose. And once again, we get torched by a three point shooter.
This team is playing bad, bad basketball right now. We were very fortunate to avoid another bad loss.

Y'all need to take the crazy down a few notches. We'll be fine. They played terribly one week, during finals mind you. Maybe let's relax a bit. They'll be good again!

How does Derrickson only get 4 field goal attempts in 39 minutes played?
How does Tre Campbell get 25 minutes while Kaleb Johnson gets 2?

Road win. Didn't play all that well, but took the punch, and put one in the win column. Gotta start somewhere.

I've said this before but our season will live and die by DSR's performance. Our players play better when he is on, the whole team seems to lose its soul when he's off. I've been his biggest fan since his freshman year and it's sad to see him struggle like this. I miss the DSR last year who had that fire in him to win. For now it seems like that fire is extinguished. I'm right with you. It's weird, I was saying to my brother tonight that last year and even two years ago when the ball left DSR's hand I always felt it was going in. This year, on the contrary, I feel it's gonna be a brick

Is it the hip again or did JTIII not like that matchup? White is too good a player to sit that long if he is healthy.

I thought our defense looked better than it had, particularly our free throw defense . DSR and LJ both played better after riding the pine a bit. I'm not sure if JTII was sending them a message or just coaching by feel. We did not play well, but we got the win. I believe we will get better.

DSR looks like he lost the fire he had when he was trying to prove to everyone last year he could play PG and play in the NBA. He is definitely not playing with a chip on his shoulder anymore.

I guess we have to start somewhere and the fact is Peak and DSR made winning plays down the stretch and our defense held up. Overall, I thought the defense made some progress in terms of adjusting to their better players as the game went along.
I am not following III's substitution patterns this season. I assume White is hurt, otherwise, we are wasting a very good talent, someone we need to run the offense. Kaleb Johnson should be getting much more time, he plays hard and pretty well for a youngster. I am not saying big minutes but more than 3. Finally, Derrickson is the official bright spot this season. He is going to be really good. I have no problem with him getting major minutes the rest of the way, I would actually like to see him more aggressive offensively.

Seeing as how he announced his intention to leave the team last season, it's not a stretch to wonder whether he came back reluctantly. His play so far this season indicates that as a possibility. His heart doesn't really seem in it. There's still time for him to bounce back and have a decent senior season, but he's far from the offensive powerhouse that many pundits predicted in the preseason. Really kinda strange.

8-21 from 3 but 10-32 from 2, and 13 to's to 8 assists...
Marcus seems to make a few bonehead passes each game that leave me scratching my head. He had 4 to's today (1 was a travel)
LJ 1-9 kept attacking but was mostly out of control on his drives tonight only shot he took in rhythm was the late 3. Hopefully that will be a big shot for his confidence.
Tre looked very assertive and sure of himself early hitting 2 big 3's early that sparked the run. We need more of that Tre and less of the timid Tre
Ike was off but I liked how he stayed aggressive, and got on the glass for 8 boards 2 offensive
Refs looked like they allowed more contact tonight than usual especially at the rim wonder if that trend c

White still looks a step slow to me, like he either hasn't recovered from the hip or is still trying to get back into game shape. I think III would play him if he was healthy but he just doesn't look it to me. Kaleb on the other hand should've gotten more minutes IMO. Especially in the first half as the lead was dwindling.

That layup down low when he got 0 elevation, the next play when he shuffled on the drive. Not typical of his play and he is a difference maker for this team..
