This is EXACTLY the type of tournament losses the Hoyas have had over and over. JT hasn't learned.

Making shots will help but more effort also needs to be made on the defensive end. The solution to being called for too many hand checks is to move your feet more!

DSR and Copeland (and the rest of the team) need to play better defense. And, I'd like to see Kaleb Johnson continue to get more minutes. I think Cameron's hot streak is over. I'm ready for White and Johnson to take some of his minutes.

First of three road games over its next four. You are a brave, brave man to open this thread so soon after today's debacle.

Presuming Paul continues to heal, I would expect this to happen - except when we need the extra shooter, Reggie will get some shots to see if he is hot.

I have been teaching my 5th and 6th grade rec teams for years that you play defense with your feet. Not sure why college kids can't comprehend that.

Are there any alumni club functions in Charlotte or a particular Hoya bar near the arena? Will be driving up from SC.

DSR and Copeland should be on the bench at the start of this game, at minimum. Better yet, bench every starter. No one's minutes should be sacred at this point. If anyone's unhappy, work harder or quit.

I doubt every starter gets benched, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a lineup change. Maybe Johnson would start in place of Peak? I can see JTIII trying to mix things up like that. He looked about as frustrated as I've ever seen him in the post-game presser.

especially against small ball lineups I would think mourning would provide more lane coverage and intensity

Who cares about Charlotte. We have pretty well put ourselves in the position of having to either win the BE or finish a strong 2nd or 3rd and/or win the BET if we want an NCAA bid. 11-7 or 12-6 won't do it based on our performance so far. Face it, we need to beat Everyone of the bottom feeders twice and Nova, PC, Xavier, Marquette and Butler at least once. Otherwise get. NIT ready.

That's not necessarily true. 12-6 where we beat Villanova and Xavier a few times (hard to see how we get to 12-6 without doing that but it's possible) would possibly get us in. And if we finish 11-7 or something like that and then win a few BET games we are probably in too. We have options but none of them involve many, if any, more bad losses.

III was shuttling Peak in and out for Johnson on offense and defense over the last several minutes today even though Johnson had the hot hand, was the better defender and the guy actually making his FTs. I couldn't understand it. I like LJ but come on. You go with the guy who is getting it done.

I think we could make the tourney because the bubble is usually soft and the top half of the BE is going to be good. We'll have 8-9 good chances for wins. That said, I don't see it happening. We are what we are. How many teams lose 3 ugly non conference games and then finish in the top 4/5 of their conference. 1 loss, I'll give you. Two, okay, maybe. Three...and, oh, yeah, could be 4 in a few days.

A loss to UConn. 7-1 against the bottom four. And 4-6 against the top five would still put our RPI in the 40s believe it or not. And with four top 50 wins. Probably enough.

Yeah, I think we are on the same track as a few years ago. We'll surprise with some good wins, but not play consistent enough to make it. It will drive all of us crazy. But, hey, it's still 20 more games, so I'll be watching...

JT3 either shows he's taking some accountability in the first 5 minutes of this game or you can write this season off.
You're playing a lesser opponent in a big-picture wise meaningless game. Another loss at this point really doesn't make a difference, so try something new. Experiment with these deep lineups you talk about, maybe practice and actually run all 5 players being in the other team's half court by 25 seconds ("Hayes, you stay home no matter what, DSR, Peak, when a shot goes up, you go here and here, guys these are where your guards are going to be, rebound, turn ands go....")
Exploit your strengths and stop doing the same-old thing that has gone nowhere. If not, then we'll know we can make plans for St. Patrick's Day that don't involve being near a TV.
