Why would we be playing Michigain at Vanderbilt - I mean I understand the rationale of playing anybody anywhere but that is rediculous.

Also I take issue with those who think we need to add a cupcake - I think what we need is 1 or 2 midlevel RPI teams not a 300 plus team. We were in the 80's in RPI last year - there is no reason to believe that we can't finish in the top 10 with this schedule. I also think that there are a few things we need to think about when considering our OOC:
Illisnois - not as hard since they have graduated most of the nucleus of last years team and Bill Self's recruits are no longer the core of the team. I would favor us in this match up.
Michigain - A tough game - but I would say it might be easier than UTEP. I think we can win it.
Oregon/UTEP - These games will be surprisingly tough and we could overlook both teams. I would expect us to drop one or both of these games.
Fairfield, Navy, Miss Valley State, Howard - If we don't win these we're in trouble.
Duke - this game is a toss up in my mind because its: 1) at MCI, 2) we match up very well with them (IF Hibbs has indeed improved and can put in good minutes against Williams) - I think we are quicker and more athletic than them as long as BB and JG start the game.

Oh yeah - I forgot Oklahoma - that's a loss no matter how optimistic I get I can't see us winning that game.

The Oklahoma State game was called off - there has been no word on whether the Oklahoma game is involved with the All College Classic - but usually Ok State plays a big name out of market opponent in the first round and OU plays Tulsa - both of which are good draws for different reasons. OU usually plays a home and home with a BE opponent and in past years thats usually been UCONN - the game has been rumored in local media and OU fans seem to know about it from the amount of crap I've been getting - so I'd say it has a fair chance of happening.

Ok sounds good with me. That is gonna be a great matchup inside- Green on Gray and Hibbert on Bookout. Wow- OU, Duke, Michigan, Illini, Oregon, Connecticut, Syracuse, ND, and Villanova all in the same year- what a schedule, could be one of the hardest schedules ever put together in Gtown history.

Um, I know Kevin and there is no way that any of our players can match up with the kid athletically or basketball wise. I gaurded the man-beast in 8th and 9th grade and from my perspective he cannot be stopped. He's also an olympic quality track and field athelete, was an incredible pitcher, and played football. I think he's the only person in Oklahoma history since Jim Thorpe to hold high school records in 4 or more sports. And his track records at the high school record (discus and shot) are incredible and will never be touched. I don't care how good of an athlete Jeff is Bookout is bigger, thicker, and at the very least every bit as athletic. The man is a Bill Brasky-esque Oklahoma sports legend.

Well, then, become an Oklahoma fan, St. Pete.
Sheesh. If Bookout was as good as you say, you'd think he'd have been more productive.

Well I think he was pretty productive and he did kill Duke and Shelden Wiliams last year, and I think he got an injury last year and that was why he wasnt as productive.

Under this schedule, Chicago area Hoyas will have a shot to see the Hoyas in person at ND, DePaul, Marquette, Illinois and Michigan, where we poor Bostonians are left to schlepp to Storrs with no game in Providence and BC on the road to perdition. When we play at Fairfield next year, it will be more a NY metro area game than a New England opportunity (for that matter, NY metro is slighted this year as well during the regular season with no games with the Hall and with Rutgers playing at MCI). Since the New Big East has really become more like the old midwest, future OOC road games should give some weight to reaching the alumni and future student base in the increasingly abandoned New England Region and on the West Coast (though legitimate student travel issues factor in there). And no, I did not forget Texas, I just don't really care about Texas.

As always, the real question here is "what's in it for me?"

Well, then, become an Oklahoma fan, St. Pete. Don't swear. I'm just stating the fact that he was very productive and yes was slowed by an ankle injury.

So we can add Colgate and UTEP to our schedule officially. I guess the real question now is: What are the last 3 OOC games? Logic would seem to dictate that one of them is Howard, however you really have to ask what can be so complicated with these 3 games that they are taking longer to nail down than Duke? I would assume it does not take that long to negotiate with a cup cake school.

Man...If we can get some exposure down in Texas, that could give us a tremendous boost in recruiting...

I would assume it does not take that long to negotiate with a cup cake school. Not that it takes longer, but that it can be done last minute. We may be trying to get one more game against a decent opponent, and after that we can go to the Howards and Gramblings of the world, who would be happy to work around all the games we have already scheduled.

GP, we can show you some of Chicago's finest watering holes before and/or after the DePaul game (and maybe the Illinois game if they play at United Center) if you want to make the trip out. However, I realize the weather that time of year will not permit any golf, and I know how you feel about taking vacations that don't include golf.
