We all wanted a better OOC schedule but maybe III has gone overboard a bit. With Illinois, Duke, Michigan, Oregon, Fairfield, Navy, two of the Colgate/Miss. Valley St./UTEP, and, maybe Oklahoma - and, most of them not at home - we could well end up with a dismal record OOC. Hope not but that's some kinda of schedule. My friend, the committee doesn't care as much if you lose those early games. Just that you play them. I think the Hoyas may suffer an extra loss on the road that they would have won if it wasn't for all the travelling. But that's the only negative I see. This gets us back on TV (which may be very important if we're stuck with a bad BE schedule) and I like the Hoyas chances in every game.

I think a hard OOC is a good thing particularly if the BE is going to screw us over with the USF Bulls - I'm sorry but our program is better than playing these guys - I'll be less excited about playing them than playing the Latvian National Team.

And our other mirror games better be with Cuse, Nova, or ND if the BE has any idea about what a "rivalry" is and what a "good TV game" is.

Here are the confirmed games so far for the 2005-2006 season. I've included their records and RPIs from last year. I've also included their avg record and avg RPI over the last 3 years. Feel free to use this thread for rampant speculation and updates. I will update the table as more information becomes available. Revamped with BE opponents, streamlined for just 3 year averages and ranked by last year's RPI... and yes, I did give my notice on tuesday...

We played 27 regular season games last season. Cambridge has 26 games posted on this schedule thread. So...Could it be that the schedule, minus game times and dates, is complete? If so, wouldn't that be a new land speed record for Georgetown Basketball? Also, wouldn't it be weird if we played ZERO MEAC teams?

I think that we will likely have 29 games this year, regular season. The Sun Tourney is exempt (and should count as one) and I believe we can have 28 counting games.
16 conference plus 11 or 12 OOC. Even if we play Oklahoma, we only have 8 OOC games scheduled right now.
We could actually use a creampuff or two right now!

IMO we are waiting on the Oklahoma and Duke games to be official before we post our schedule - and there is probably one more home game on the schedule that we don't know about - but it would seem like that's it. We could have only 3 home OOC games - wow.

I would be surprised if Howard is not still on the schedule. I have also heard pretty good information that the Duke game will be the first weekend after the new year.

Um, Jack, I hope your wrong - because if that's the case the athletic department might have just done what it did with that UCONN game a few years ago that no students could go to at MCI because we weren't back on campus yet.

If that happened with UConn, there's not much that Georgetown could do, because the Big East actually sets all those dates and times. If it happened with Dook, that would be pretty awful, because GU has a lot more control of scheduling out-of-conference games.

I don't have final confirmation, but that is what my sources are telling me. You can be sure that ESPN or CBS or ABC is setting that schedule too.

Well that's great - if the students can't be there then i'm sure its ESPN because they schedule most of the Duke home games.

Thats kind wierd that Duke plays us then because that is prolly going to be the 2nd week of Big East play, so wierd to have an OOC game there. But, I will deff be down for the Duke game from Pittsburgh. My best friend is a Duke fan and I will prolly bring him (if I dont he'll prolly kill me), so we better win!

Jack, I trust your information on this one. As much as having students around is important, being on national tv is more important. Throw me to the wolves for saying so, but we need to get on the airwaves again.

God, this schedule will be murderous. We might wind up with 11 losses and still make the dance with a good seed and RPI!
We need some cupcakes, and we need our returnees to get a lot better.

I never thought we'd see the day where folks on this board would be screaming for cupcakes. LOL. I agree with you completely. Give me St. Olaf's, Hawaii-Hilo, and Morgan State to round out the schedule. Might as well make them road games too. Our OOC schedule is looking like the Expos' schedule of 2004-2005. Are we going to play in the MCI except for the Duke game?

No cupcakes, please. How about Penn, South Carolina, and a Bay Area team to round it out?
Three more road games will really help the MCI attendance averages, though...

I don't think we're going to go for scheduling overkill given how the schedule already looks. Thus far, we have three gimmes in Navy, the first round of the tourney, and Fairfield. I'd be willing to add, at most, one more UTEP-quality opponent or higher, but I'd make the rest like American, Mason, and so forth.

The Sun Bowl Classic is not exempt, so the 2 games in El Paso count as 2 games. Presumably, UTEP is coming to MCI in 06/07. Also, on one of the Michigan boards, they have the Michigan game at a neutral site (at Vanderbilt), which makes no sense; but with this schedule, anything makes sense--if you live in Chicago, you have 4 games within a couple of hours drive. Let's hope the midwestern alums show up.
