It is believed, in Lower Canada, that the players were advised of the pending NCAA sanctions before the game, and they sure did come out flatly against that Clemson juggernaut. Such a shame. . . .

I hope the sanctions are not for this season as this team may suck badly enough to miss on their own. Hate for a perfectly good post season ban to be wasted...

That is why Magoo and the school are negotiating; they will forego any appeal if the ban is for this year. That way they can claim they would have made the tourney but for the ban.

Interesting. . .the board moderators at syracusefan.com are now, as of this afternoon, denying access to two separate threads dealing with the potential NCAA sanctions against Syracuse, without the entry of a password. I have previously learned that one of the board moderators is also a member of the university's Board of Trustees.
My interpretation: something is coming down tomorrow, and they are trying to restrict the outside world from seeing their collective angst and comments.
I'll continue to monitor things.

Okay. In the interest of keeping up with what's happening, I registered (yuck) on the syracusefan.com site (I used a different e-mail address, because my usual one does have "hoya" in it). The mods have posted the following message:
"Since we want to keep this board about the current SU basketball season, we have set up an NCAA board. We have moved the threads about the NCAA investigation to that board and ask everyone to make all posts there if they are related to the NCAA and the investigation.
Thanks"
I'll continue to lurk there, and pass along any interesting information.
EDIT: They have now opened an entirely new board at syracusefan.com, devoted solely to NCAA issues. I guess they are expecting a lot of traffic. Nothing new otherwise.

I hope my classmate Kent Syverud (F '77), Chancellor and President of Syracuse, doesn't let Magoo get away with some BS settlement with the NCAA. As a side note, I find it odd that Syracuse studiously avoids mentioning his Hoya credentials from his official bio on its website. chancellor.syr.edu/biography/index.html

I think a call to Child Protective Services is in order. This is a clear case of child abuse.

The poor girl does not even realize she is about to get hit with a one-year ban from recess. She appears destined to a life of pole dancing and living in a trailer park. Her only hope is to change her name and disown her idiot parents as soon as she turns 18, then attend a legitimate college away from upstate NY. My prayers are with her.

I thought my cousin (to be completely honest, my cousin's wife) naming his son Ace was bad. I always just think of the hardware store jingle. I sure hope the little dude doesn't end up wanting to be a pilot or a pitcher. Too much pressure and the jokes make themselves.

According to the NCAAA board at syracusefan.com, an emergency meeting of the Syracuse University Athletic Policy Board has just been called. Maybe something is imminent?

My guess? Syracuse is agreeing not to appeal any further if the post season ban is for this year, since they most likely are NIT-bound anyway, but the NCAA is not going for it.
