Not sure what else to say except Gus & Raftery on the call on FS1. Good, I like that duo. Hope we can steal this one, maybe give everyone the freedom to shoot whenever and crash the boards as hard as possible.

We have to feel more comfortable on our home court, right? Creighton beat them much worse than they beat us, so . . .

We have to feel more comfortable on our home court, right? Creighton beat them much worse than we did, so . . . They also went to overtime with Butler and Marquette. If we could beat a top ten team, I think it would do wonders for the teams confidence and morale going forward.

Markel only needs 16 points to get to 1000 for his career. It'd be nice if fans showed some appreciation if he gets there against Villanova.
Also, if you want some reason for hope, the 2008-09 Hoyas went to Philadelphia and beat a top ten Villanova team late in the season, well after their season had fallen apart. These Hoyas could do the same with the same kind of defensive effort as last night and Verizon's friendlier rims.

Villanova, for all the hype, are a bunch of chuckers. If there's one game that can get us back in the win column and hopefully turn things around, it's this one. More aggression from Hop, less losing guys on D, and let's face it, a little home cooking from the refs and some luck that they're missing threes wouldn't be bad.

Let's stop the skid. Let's not make it 5 in a row.

Reggie better be working on the 3 point shot leg kick and Italian soccer player flop in practice. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

We win. Desperation + home court + some luck and we get this one.

We win. Desperation + home court + some luck and we get this one. I would add to this a steadily improving Hopkins and Cameron. I may be delusional but I think the Creighton game was a turning point. Guys were much more aggressive on D and seem to be more comfortable in their new roles. Hoyas win 65-60.

Fight. Hustle. Play smart. Play aggressive. Make them work to beat you the same way you made Creighton work in Omaha, not the way Nova lost at home to Creighton like they were a bunch of muppets. This isn't the season any of us wanted, but it's not over yet and even down seasons can produce wins you look back on fondly. This is a chance for you to get one of them.

This team can still make a run. Yes, they are undermanned and getting Trawick back will only make up some of the player losses.
But they can play better than they have. And if they do, they can make a run at the NCAAs, as crazy as that sounds right now.

And if they do, they can make a run at the NCAAs, as crazy as that sounds right now. Amen to this. I can think of only 3 games in which this team did not lead in the 2nd half. Last night, Providence and Kansas. The reality is that the losses have all followed a disturbing pattern. There have been some mistakes by players and the coaching staff, but despite that the team had a chance to win against Xavier, Marquette and Seton Hall. The season would look very different if they had won 2 of those 3. Smith's loss hurts. Trawick's hurts more. Yet the team's bench has added some valuable playing experience now and players like Hopkins, Bowen, Cameron and Caprio can contribute more now than before. I will concede that the glass may not be half-full anymore, but it is still not empty.

Cameron is developing nicely; I like his confidence. He is even becoming a better defender

This could be the most exciting home game of the year. A do-or-die Hoya team that can get hot from 3 against a Nova team that doesn't defend the 3 too well. If DSR gets going early I think we could build a nice lead early like Creighton did. Just got to play tough D against their bigs and hope Arcidiacano's 2 or 3 ridiculous 30ft+ shots don't fall. I sense this will be much like the Marquette game but don't think Nova's defense will play us as tough as Marquette did. Has to be one of those classic DSR nights and Reggie and Starks need to be feeling it too. And hope some of those Nate, Hop, Moses bunnies start dropping.
