We win. Desperation + home court + some luck and we get this one. I feel that way, too. Im not sure it's enough to save the season, but it reminds me of us playing Nova last year in Philly. We had won several games in a row and they were completely desperate for a win. You could see that one coming from a mile and they just whupped us. I hope we can get some measure of revenge tonight. I agree with sleepy that in CBB, winning a game like this is a huge boost even for playing games like DePaul, Providence and Butler.

a nine o'clock start limits the number of HOYA fans showing up. But since I am retired, it will not stop my attendance and cheering the lads to victory.

Yikes. Not a lot of excitement about this game. I guess I cant blame folks. But, I would have been psyched about a 9pm home game against Nova back in college. Of course, that would have also meant getting home by like 1am from the Cap Centre.
But, yeah, I think you are probably right, sky, I can see that almost being a deterrent now with the way things have gone.

9pm home game against a 'Nova? And we play in DC (i.e. you don't have to schlep out to Landover)? This is what college is all about! If undergrads can't get up for this and make it to the game, I really fear for the future of my alma mater.

It wasn't the undergrads who had the problem with a 9PM start for the Marquette game, it was us fat cat alums and season ticket placeholders.

I think the Hoyas will play well. Villanova is not as "intricate" as Creighton. Haven't decided who wins though. We'll see what "changes" JTIII makes.

Now Dan we know you would have a very long trip home. I think we can give you a pass.

The 9PM game last week was a pretty solid turnout by the students. Even saw some of the more savvy students sneaking out from behind the baskets and down into the 100 and 101 sections after the half when the old heads started heading out because of sleep depravation, wife curfew, starvation, and fear of frostbite. The alumni sections deserve the call out.

www.csnwashington.com/ncaa/hoyas-green-light-all-against-villanovaStandig agrees with the "what do you have to lose" philosophy... Domingo has barely played enough in his 1 1/2 years with the program for outside observers to know what he can or can't do. The small forward entered college with a positive shooting reputation. He's been erratic at both ends when given time, but his on-court run often ends abruptly following a mistake or two. Given the overall scenario and the opponent, perhaps now is the time to let Domingo play through his mistakes and see if that reputation was legitimate.
Ideally, Hopkins and Bowen would not fire away from deep. Ideally Domingo would have impressed Thompson enough to earn those minutes. Obviously nothing is ideal with the current circumstances. With this particular matchup, perhaps it's time to give them the green light.

The line is 5. Very surprised it's that low.

Well, we're at home. At Nova, it'd be about -11.

Two 9pm Monday night games in a row. I am going and will stay as long as the Hoyas stay competitive in the second half. But this is yet another justification for season ticketholders to stop buying season tickets and simply pay for the handful of home games that are against quality competition on a reasonable date and time. More on that after the season. For now, winning the game will go a long way to help the fanbase stay interested. Go Hoyas.

The Hoyas are going to have to be on fire, and Villanova as cold as the outdoor temperature, if GU is going to be competitive in this one.
Hoyas do not match up well, hope we can keep it interesting.
Here's a question. Assuming we lose to Villanova, and to Michigan State, Hoyas will have 11 wins and 10 losses. Looking at the remainder of the schedule, will be Hoyas finish with more wins than losses this season? My guess, 15 wins, 15 losses.

Michigan State actually appears to be a more likely win for us than tonight, IMO. Payne and Dawson will be out, 2 of the Spartans' 4 best players. It will be a mostly empty MSG and I can see Michigan State having a hard time getting up for the game. Tonight I have a feeling is going to be very ugly.

How many fly-by's vs. Villanova's 3-point attempts will Nate have? I'm going to say 4.
