Which would leave us with what at C? As I and others have also said before, not going full court press on Paschal Chukwu was an epic mistake. I don’t think anybody was beating Providence for Pashal… Cooley was all over that kid way before anyone else.. Oh man not this again. He was at a Jesuit HS / feeder school to Georgetown in the Northeast. His host family seemed to be gung-ho about Catholic Schools. He's a foreign big man. Other than "Son of former Hoya Great" - which we somehow missed out on with Patrick Ewing Jr and haven't seemed to have locked down on with Trey Mourning - I cannot think of a situation that is more primed for recruitment, I think I even read somewhere in his bio that Paschal Chukwu has a weakness for Chicken Madness. There wasn't an easier sell on Georgetown anywhere than Paschal Chukwu. I have to believe we never really tried because shame on us if we couldn't close the deal there and lost out to Providence.

Lol ok… You ignore the fact that Brennan and Hunter landed no-one for 4 years. These guys couldn’t sell Gtown to JT2

Might be reading a bit too much into this, but did anyone notice Josh's suit looked big on him last night? It was noticeable, like Bob Dole convention noticeable (for anyone old enough to remember that).
Is this anything or might he actually be snacking on celery during his time off?

I had the same thought. Probably grasping at straws, but he looked a little trimmer than previous games on the bench. Of course if Hop plays like he did last night, we already have a pretty decent big man!

I thought he looked a little slimmer too. Definitely noticed that.

He is absolutely a lot smaller than he used to be. Hopefully he's doing his work in the classroom as well.

I didn't say "small" but it's all relative! Let's just say he's noticeably slimmer.

Yep, I said the same thing when the team came out. Glad others independently saw the same thing.

I hope he's put on whatever workout schedule DSR was on last offseason. He's put on good muscle and gotten in really good shape and it's paying off.

Hope he works on passing out of the post. He did a great job doing it to reestablish position but once he makes his move the possession is over in either a basket, foul , or turnover. Obviously we don't mind because it is a basket or a foul more often then not.
A lot of people have complained about his defense but honestly I didn't think it was that bad, maybe only in comparison to his offense. He's not going to blow anyone away on help defense but he showed on screens and didn't lose his man for easy baskets.

As a frequent critic of Smith's play and effort, I cannot recall a better game that he has played --here or at UCLA. No effort issues, though he still has some conditioning problems that won't disappear. Aggressive, active on defense and the boards and composed. Last night was evidence of what he could be and hopefully will be for the remainder of the year.

Agreed. Also, I loved his maneuver of removing that guy's hand from him and then popping him with an elbow to the jaw, only to see the other player foul out in the process. A thing of beauty. These moronic refs need to stop reviewing everything. Let them play. That type of informal enforcement is part of the game, and an important one at that.

There were rumors he wasn't even going to come back. Instead, dude has proven he can be one of the elite offense bigs in the entire country this year and this removes a lot of doubts about our frontcourt. Yes, I'm disappointed we lost but for those saying there is no such thing as a moral victory, I beg to differ because seeing Josh's effort and ability bodes very very well for the rest of the season....

We have to keep the big man engaged in the game. Pounding the ball inside to him has to be option 1 or 2 every time down the floor when he is in the game. I loved the block shot he had and I believe it lead to a fast break bucket. Definitely exceeding all expectations that I had.

I think it was his third foul that almost made me hyperventilate - he was standing stock still in the lane for quiet some time before the guy came crashing in, bounced off of him and got the call. That call was almost as horrible as Josh's play when he got a steal/loose ball on one sideline and threw the ball clear over the other sideline. The terrible foul calls he just has to live with as the biggest guy in most gyms, but the spacy play and mental lapses he hopefully will improve during the year - after all it has been a while since he played major minutes of real ball and 7 or 8 games isn't enough to be 100% sharp (for spacy guys).

I have been very happy for Smith this season. He seems to have focused on being a better all around player and it is plain to see it is working. Seaweed is right though, he makes some boneheaded plays like that toss after the wonderful steal. I also assume it is the product of playing extended minutes for the first time in 3 years. He needs to get reacquainted with making decisions under pressure and exhaustion. He will get better. No doubt Smith will be very effective in BE play, I do not see many match-ups where he cannot be dominant.
