Boy was that fun. Brought back a lot of memories of loud, crazy games in the 60's. Someone asked about the rebounding? We did get beat off the boards. We had things really spread out against their zone and they got all the defensvie boards. On the offensive board, it is obvious we need someone with a 6'6" to 6'*" frame with a big but just to keep bodies off the boards. All in all a lot of fun. Nice to see the alums with kids and the students in such close proximity during the game. We gave up the boards on offense. I'm pretty sure that III was stressing getting back in transition D because of Fullerton's speed, because even Jeff was taking off and not following the shot, which he usually does.

Just a couple things to say:
1) The atmosphere last night, as everyone has said, was nothing short of ELECTRIC. I've never heard an arena of ANY sort get that loud (sans Fenway at a Yankees series, of course). The crowd was AMAZING - congrats to the students for making us look amazing on TV.
2) Jeff is a beast. Plain and simple. His last block was reeeeediculous.
3) Our offensive rebounding continues to struggle. At one point in the first half, I don't think we had 1 offensive rebound. We need to do a better job of crashing the boards (of course, it doesn't help that Jeff was basically being hauled out of the paint by their center - with no fouls being called).
4) I'm positive that I saw at least 2 recruits there last night - does anyone have any idea who they would be? Talk about a recruiting experience... wish we could get Brandon Rush to a game like that...

The only games that can even compare in terms of noise in my experience are the World Series games in the Metrodome in 1991. The announcers had a decibel meter going and it was louder than a jet engine. Too bad ESPN didn't think to pull out a decibel meter for the game (especially after the Owens to Bowman dunk).

I thought ESPN did an outstanding job of focusing on Georgetown. There were several shots of JT up top; a view of the signed basketball (probably championship year, '84) with Freddy Brown's autograph visible; shot of AI; banners with the names of our greats, like Ewing, C. Smith, etc.; banners of NCAA years, including the three final fours; the bronze bust of JT; and a constant reminder of our glory years. Plus they were constantly showing shots of the students and commenting on the noise. GREAT.

Great Stat:
The 5 starters were 27 - 44 from the field - 61%
and 10 - 20 from 3.
Gotta love that.

Talk about a recruiting experience... wish we could get Brandon Rush to a game like that... I saw some pretty big guys as well, walking around and chatting with people around halftime. They were big enough and looked very athletic, so my guess is that they were hoops recruits, though Im not sure. A bunch of people near me were speculating as to their identities as well, but no one knew for sure. I guessed that one of them MAY have been Marc Egerson, based strictly on his height, his skin tone, and his 'stache, but thats almost complete conjecture by me, as I've never seen any of our recruits in person before. I'd love it if anyone on here could identify them. I'm really curious, and I think its great for any recruit to have experienced that game.

The 7:00 time slot, no other college games, ESPN not ESPN2 or Classic. And all this talk about the rebuilding of GU. Jarvis was very complimentary of Pops and T3. The team played great. And the students were OUTSTANDING!

In terms of crowd noise, it was so loud you could barely hear the commentators during the game when crowd was cheering. When Bowman made that dunk from the feed from Owens, it sounded like ESPN's speakers blew out because it was so loud.

Sorry, Nevada. It seems that your surrogate just can't quite make it to the front row like mine! ;D CAHoya, what are you doing in the 2nd row!!!

CAHoya, what are you doing in the 2nd row!!! He took his sweet sweet time getting to the game. I mean, he wasn't there until almost 5pm! For a 7pm game! You know, you can't just sashay up 2 hours before game time (especially a McDonough game) and expect to sit in the front row Though, Nevada, I don't think you need to worry too much--everyone has off days. For the BU game, at least 8 or 9 people beat 007. I mean, sometimes you just can't get up for a game (wait for it....wait for it....)

On the plus side, CAHoya came with two ladies, so that has to count for something! And I think during the course of the game/pregame, 007 TALKED to two ladies, so anyone who tells me the student section isn't growing as the season goes on is full of crap. (I kid because I love. And now because I'm irrationally jealous of the kid's notoriety...probably the funniest random moment of my entire season was the woman--and I know who she is but always forget, she's around at games--who came up the pregame BBQ a bunch of us kids were at in front of the gym, and says something along the lines of: "So, are you guys the people that are always in the front row" "Yes" "So which one of you is 007 and CAHoya?") Probably the most fun thing I did all season going to the pregame BBQ with about 10-15 of the fans I've gotten to know this season...totally made it worth it to leave Foggy Bottom about an hour earlier than I was originally going to and stay up waaaaaaaay later doing work last night. Now if Dave would get the wheels on his grill right, we'd be good for pulling this off at the next McDonough home game.

Two games that were louder. The nationally televised game from McD with Missouri when Patrick and Sleepy dominated. 1965 tevelvised game against NYU with Happy Hairston and Kramer. The game with Stracuse and Dave Bing(best all around college player I ever saw in person)

Wow, I never thought my actions before/during the game would receive so much attention. Two friends from high school (yes, they were girls) were visiting their sister who now lives in DC, so they called me up. I told them about the game on Tuesday and they sounded pretty excited to go, so I got em student tix and decked em out in "We are Georgetown" shirts for the night. They both go to colleges that don't have much school spirit, so they were pretty excited about the atmosphere and cheered for the Hoyas just as much and maybe even more than regular students do. They even put a little facepaint on, and guilted me into doing it too. Yes, we were in the second row at midcourt, but at McDonough it really doesn't matter where you sit. According to my sister, we got plenty of TV time, so it all turned out all right. ;D And something that warms my heart: I was approaced by a member of the Chimes last night before the game who got a blue afro wig exactly like mine to wear to the game. He told me I was his inspiration. I saw a couple other afro wigs in the band and in the student section. I promised myself I wouldn't cry...

Congrats, Hoyas. We needed to hit more shots to stay with you guys; with Ralphy, we would have given you a much better game. Regardless, this has been an amazing season for us, one we'll remember forever. You guys look like you're on the path back to where you used to be. Good luck the rest of the NIT and next year! As has been said before, what a classy way to be. All my best to Cal Fullerton. They have another fan on the East coast.... Good luck to them next year. Go Titans!
