Do we really have a 23 year winning streak at McD?

In the AP's recap from Yahoo, they mention "A standing-room only crowd of 2,604 packed the gym, and their chants and roars tested the limits of decibel tolerance in a way never heard at MCI." Great to hear that the decibel level was off the charts - just what I expected - and you could tell on TV too! I hope there was at least one recruit at this game - if so, they're probably signing tonight! sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/news?slug=ap-nit-calShut upllerton-georgetown&prov=ap&type=lgns LET'S GO HOYAS!!! BEAT SOUTH CAROLINA!

Honestly, I was confused as to what that guy was actually doing. Because of course, of all the things in the world that one could think of to juggle/throw, clearly the best choice is something that is a). awkwardly shaped; b). not at all aerodynamic and easily caught in wind drafts; c). impossible to do any cool tricks with. The coolest trick he did was pulling his shorts back up while the thing was in the air cause they were almost falling off. Sadly, I doubt that was a planned trick. I'd settle for Jack the Bulldog eating the box of treats wrapped in the opponent's logo. People seem to enjoy that.

Seriously. All he did was run around and twirl the damn thing, and when he tried to do a trick he dropped it. I don't really know what was going on there, nor do I ever want to know, or see that again.

I also how one finds out that they have the skill to become a professional twirler but they need to develop some sort of cutting process. He was terrible and kept dropping the damn thing. I'm not saying it's easy, I'm saying if you do it for a living, figure out how to work it.

He had a shirt on that depicted a man twirling something like he was twirling tonight, so he obviously must not be an amateur. Possibly had an off night.

Is that what you folks were chanting when Jon Wallace was at the line? It sounded like "M-V-P" but we couldn't figure it out. J-T-3! J-T-3! ;D

Yeah, I was near them. I usually go w/ the tshirt, jeans, and a 4 corners design for face paint (blue in upper left/lower right, gray in upper right/lower left--these being my left/right). Oh, and I keep my normal BROWN hair. No wigs for me. I think CA was pretty much directly behind me (I was in the first row, he was in the 2nd). Sorry, Nevada. It seems that your surrogate just can't quite make it to the front row like mine! ;D

I taped the game, it sounded great, possibly the best moment was the FT mentioned earlier in this thread. Jarvis was talking and it was so quiet he trailed off and commented that he felt wierd talking cause the place was so quiet, i think bowman was at the line. some great dunks by bowman and the last green foul was not even close to a foul. several comments about how loud it was by the announcers. now i know what it must be like to be a duke alum for one of their games because the entire broadcast was one big love fest of the hoyas. they also mentioned that Freddy Brown was in the audience.

as it also "rocked" in the 70s.. (and the Hoyas "rolled" tonight)...Beautiful reveries...the Hoyas [the Dead, Springsteen]....
From Bowman's and Coach's post-game comments, it seemed as if they also enjoyed the change of venue of playing at McDonough ..Hoyas appeared comfortably at home during the game
Auxerre, appreciate your posts... good luck CSF

Ah ... you discovered our Allyson. ... She's a definite fan favorite in Titanland. ... Played for our women's team, officially is an "administrative assistant" (2nd season) -- basically, she's learning from Burton and the assistants. Real nice, too.

Wow, great night! Sat in the first row again, right near the Hoya coaches and the scorers table. It was awesome, because Id yell encouragement to all of the players when they went to check in, or praise when they came out.
Some great dunks that really charged everyone up. Also blocked shots, those are great for the crowd as well. Jeff was great, and he definitly got robbed on that last call... I watched it again on the monitor on the scorers table, and it really looked clean. Cant wait to see how great he looks next year. I hope he continues to progress well. He's very, very talented... he needs to work on staying away from cheap fouls though, and he also needs to become a more dominant rebounder... Hes a GREAT player for a freshman though.
Bowman has really stepped up lately I think. In the BET and now through the NIT, hes definitly looked like the all conference player he is. He's starting to use his ability more, and starting to look like a veritable superstar, rather than just a top player. Thats great. Thats what we need. We need him as a leader. Bowman as a leader and superstar combined with Mr. Everything Jeff Green and a solid supporting cast are enough to make a lot of noise in the Big East next year.
A lot of other guys, Darrell, Ashanti, Jon, and others... everyone looked pretty solid. Roy still looked a bit out of place, but hes trying.
Overall the game at McDonough was a great experience... Hopefully we created a lot of new student fans tonight, and got some positive pub in the area, on top of getting some more experience for the fellas. Most important, a great time was had by all wearing the blue and gray....Great night!

Owens is truly going out with a bang. He's just feeling it right now. Great shot on ESPN of him running back down the court with the "Woooooooooh" face after one of his first-half threes.
Another TV note: I've never been a big Mike Jarvis fan, but I thought he did a very good job tonight as a commentator. He obviously has a great deal of respect for JT, Jr. and seemed genuinely happy that III was having a good first year at the helm. He also gave Fullerton their due credit for the season they've had and what's ahead of them. (Also had a good joke when Bobby Brown had his dunk rejected by the front of the rim--said in his playing days, his teammates would have high-fived him for that play.)
I forgot that Jarvis coached Ewing in high school. He prodded JT, Jr. for how often his phone rang when he was recruiting Ewing.

Boy was that fun. Brought back a lot of memories of loud, crazy games in the 60's. Someone asked about the rebounding? We did get beat off the boards. We had things really spread out against their zone and they got all the defensvie boards. On the offensive board, it is obvious we need someone with a 6'6" to 6'*" frame with a big but just to keep bodies off the boards. All in all a lot of fun. Nice to see the alums with kids and the students in such close proximity during the game.

the game was great to watch on tv. the noise and the way the fans are right on top of the court is the way a home court should be. my girlfriend asked me why they were playing in a high school gym!!!!! it's nice to see all the banners and the pro jerseys of ex-hoyas on the wall.
as for the game, it was a great effort by the team. jeff was unstoppable. i think he could have scored 30 if he was more selfish. it was funny to see their center not even guarding jeff when he had the ball at the top of the key. he missed his first couple 3's from there, but it was just a matter of time before he starting draining them. i think they layed off to cut off the backdoor from the high post. jeff seemed shocked when he found himself all alone up there. brandon played great. i think wallace had his best game in a long time.

Stop me if you've heard any of this before . . . Wow, what a game! had not been to McD since my convocation Mass in 94, and sure has shrunk. Students did a great job making the place inhospitable. While jeff could have let the 4th foul go, those refs were an abomination. But the way #32 pushed him around in the block, I wonder if the "do we need another big man" debate will resurface. Great crowd at the Tombs post-game also. Ran into NCCT and Destroya. We thought of going to the Maryland game to taunt the Twerps, but Destroya pithily observed, "No matter what happens, a couch will burn in College Park tonight." I also tried this one on them. Let me know what you think. GO HOYAS! BLOCK THE COCKS!

Stolen from Barker Davis. What a great name for the Hoyas new arena. Sink the floor a bit, put a couple of bolders at the entrance, Hoya Saxa, and call it "The Crypt." Abandon all hope all ye who enter here (source obvious, no quotations needed)
