espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/player/gamelog/_/id/36589/year/2009/nikita-mescheriakovYou might be thinking of the two threes Nikita hit in two minutes of action in a Jan. 14 win against Syracuse. Nikita did not, however, play in the next game against Duke and logged just one minute against WVU the game after that. Nikita's sudden increase in minutes really came after the Hoyas lost 65-60 to Seton Hall on Jan. 25. He made one bucket in that contest, but obviously not a game winner. Take a look at the game log; I do not see a game winner -- the only game that really even could have been won on a single shot was at Villanova, but that was well into his run of starts -- but let me know if I am missing something.

Assuming he actually made said game winning shot, based on what I know of JTIII, I don't think that's why he was getting 14 minutes a game his freshman year You are supposed to be a Hoyas fan, just look it up yourself, if you are going to counterpoint fine, but you are now saying/assuming as if the game winning shot was never made...the fact is it was made during the 08/09 season. That shot gave JTIII confidence to start Nikita for a couple of games over Jessie Sapp. The issue then started to become 1) Nikita did not play good defense 2) Nikita had a shaky outside shot This Just In... This just In is wrong about everything! (Well in fairness he is right about Nikita being a lousy defender and shooter).

Making up stats and plays that never happened as you repeatedly do here is just a recipe for disaster. You should really do more research before you post or people are going to continually sh*t on you here.

Assuming he actually made said game winning shot, based on what I know of JTIII, I don't think that's why he was getting 14 minutes a game his freshman year I think Nikita averaged 14 minutes a game because that team was pretty bad, and John Thompson III was willing to try anything to do better. It really shows how far this team has come (and how much more talented and deep we are today) when we think about the fact that Nikita was 7th on the depth chart that year (in minutes) and he actually started Big East games. Nikita's offense basically was as efficient as Hopkins' this year, except his usage was only 15, versus Hopkins' 24. You say we're better off this year, but your last line doesn't really point that way. Our thinness is in another position.

I question the fandom of anyone with snowplow in their handle. That sounds like something someone from the Buffalo/Syracuse area would use as their name. That's not an opinion ... that's a fact.
That being said, I think technically the "ones that got away" have to be recruiting losses and not transfers How many transfers did we really let go away? It's my impression that most/all transfers are "encouraged" to find PT somewhere else.

The PT aspect I agree with, players like Marc Egerson, Nikita, Vee Sanford, Jerell Benimon were encouraged by this. Though Vernon Macklin appeared to have transferred due to the recruitment/arrival of Greg Monroe, Henry Sims...that would have affected his PT time too.

It appears you're either from Michigan or live there now, and either way I'm pretty sure you've seen a snowplow in your life. And who are you to jump in this argument? Was anybody talking to you? And how are you claiming that only someone from Buffalo/Syracuse would have snowplow in their name as a fact? That is most definitely an opinion, and a pretty silly one. If you actually go back and read this thread, no one ever claimed Nikita was "one that got away." He actually came up because someone said "he was awful" and TJI for some inexplicable reason tried to convince us that somewhere along the line Nikita made a game winning three which led to his getting PT. This notion was quickly and widely discredited by people who have even a small idea what they're talking about. Thanks for playing though. We have some lovely parting gifts for you.

Mod Note: cut out the baiting and name calling posts or we will start deleting them. Apologies. I don't take kindly to people trying to start nonsense for no apparent reason, much less someone who has been MIA for 2 years. Clearly I need to be better at not taking the bait. I make no promises though ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ...

Thanks for the link...Jerrelle definitely gave some more insight into his days playing at the Hilltop and playing with Greg Monroe.. They honestly used to yell at me for not shooting. I guess it was more of me just being timid. That quote is sort of funny..I remember people complaining that they did not want Jerrelle to shoot the ball at all.
