Hey guys, I had to be in a meeting today, and pulled off listening to the game from Westwood One with an earbud and a strange looking hat. (I'm not even kidding.) However, I'd love to actually see the video. Does anyone know where I could do that, which doesn't involve an absurd $4 fee for a game that already happened?

pretty sure Jay Wright just said he voted for Jason for BE POY. he really does love him. some nice respect.
this of course was as they were doing the highlights of our game and they were all saying "yeah everyone was talking about belmont so much, no one's talking about georgetown!" ya think!!??

Lic, I don't mind Tarik until he publishes an in-depth article the day of the game about a player who's hot or had a great last game. In the last two years, Otto is the only one of those players who hasn't had a bad game that day. Almost 100%.

Everything about today was so damn great, I couldn't stop celebrating. With work left to be done for Hoya--I'm still beyond pleased with today and just happy for the entire program and fanbase. In CBB--4 years is like 400 without an NCAA win!
III/Staff had team ready/delivered the first blow, they attacked, were aggressive, played with great tempo/pace and most importantly imo--they got points off their defense and easy baskets. Just fun to see/and proud of the effort put in--now put forth the same effort Sunday and like the chances-but no matter what-it was nice to Georgetown play like they are capable in a setting where everyone wanted/expected them to lose to the CinderFELLA.

Today, we made Seth Davis and Doug Gottlieb look like morons. Can't ask for more than that. Hoya Saxa, and on to the next one.

That one felt good boys. And I didn't even feel like we brought our A game. I'd give it a B-. Henry saddled with early foul trouble. Hollis mostly ineffective offensively. A decent number of missed assignments defensively. Markel with an unimpressive stat line of 2,1,1 for 20 minutes of action. Yet, we really controlled the game beginning to end. And we should against an Atlantic Sun team.
Having said that, I love how Greg and Otto being significant contributors is the norm. Otto's jumper has come a long way since early in the year. Greg's 3 point stroke is consistent, and he picks his shots well. And they both have become above average finishers at the rim. Jason being Jason again is always a sight for sore eyes. Man, if we could ever put it all together...
Maybe I'm just in an optimistic mood, but I think NC State is another great matchup for our Hoyas. They really only have one dead eye shooter in Wood, and our length has given us the ability to really make player's like Wood have to hunt for their shot. Leslie and Howell down low are active and athletic but not overly tall or physical, which usually works strongly in our favor. Brown, their PG, is crafty and good in the open floor but not a devastating penetrator. The ACC is one of the few power conferences that truly plays nobody with our style of offense. The Big 10 has variations with Northwestern and Wisconsin. The Big 12 HAD Colorado under Jeff Bzdelik. The Pac-12 has Oregon State. In recent years against UNC, MD and Duke we have gotten the greatest percentage of back door plays due to these teams lack of preparation for our style of offense. Not to mention, that getting to play two double digit seeds to have a chance for the Sweet 16 is a coup. Let's not forget that less than two weeks ago the Wolfpack were on the wrong side of the bubble. And their best win since then was against a 10 seed Virginia team who got spanked today. Or maybe San Diego State, although its hard to call a win over the third best team in the MWC much of a statement. Shoot, UVA or SDSU is the Pack's best win the ENTIRE SEASON. Take care of business.

Interesting to me in reading all the accounts of the game and particularily players comments after it; they all expressed a sense of relief that they had survived the upset and gotten the monkey off the back of the Hoya program. That is a lot of pressure for a young team to carry into a game and the fact that they were so immediately intensly efficient and but not overamped is a credit to the Coaches and particularily the seniors. Jason was awesome, just awesome!

Regarding Greg being able to finish above the rim, I noticed today that he didn't go for the 1-foot finesse shots. Dunked everything possible. Loved it.

I think my favorite defensive play was the last play of the half--Belmont's guard started his move with like 8/9 seconds left, did a little shake and bake, brought the ball up to shoot and realized that he'd created no space whatsoever, and had to pass it to another covered Belmont guard who was also smothered, but had to force up the shot. Man, that was fun ;D

Regarding Greg being able to finish above the rim, I noticed today that he didn't go for the 1-foot finesse shots. Dunked everything possible. Loved it. That, plus the block on the Bruin who thought he had a layup, which led to a run out for us, and the flying leap on the the three attempt from the corner, after getting screened.

Having said that, I love how Greg and Otto being significant contributors is the norm. Otto's jumper has come a long way since early in the year. . This is the second time I've read such a statement. I don't get it. Otto's jumper has been good since practically day one. Of course he was bound to have some bad games when the jumper didn't fall and he is due to have bad games in the future too (hopefully not tomorrow), but his midrange shot has been the most reliable midrange jumpshot of any Hoya during III's era, including Austin Freeman (admittedly though Greg provides a much smaller sampling than Austin). His jumper didn't just become good over the last couple of weeks. Kid was making those shots at least as far back as Maui. If he is making them at a higher percentage rate that is just the natural result of added experience and every improving mechanics, but nonetheless his shot has always been a viable weapon for the Hoyas during the entire season.

I meant to write a thanks to Greg for bringing back the dunk to this team. He may have missed some bunnies early on with his layup attempts but at least he has learned his lesson quickly. Other players, incluidng those that have been here for years, still go up too soft way too often. Yeah, yeah. Two points are two points. However a dunk can send a statement or excite the bench and the crowd. Sometimes I do find myself shaking my head when Henry, Hollis, Otto, etc have uncontested shots at the basket and decide on a finesse layup. Then again I probably had the same complaints about Roy, Greg Monroe, and DJ Owens too.

MCI, Otto is increasing his range. He looked more comfortable pulling from 3 in the game yesterday.

Maybe. However he is still not a proven three-point shooter and I could care less about that anyway to tell you the truth. Point is he has been a very good jumpshooter from day one. There are many guys out there who can hit like 30% to 34% from the three-point line. But there doesn't seem to be many players these days who can make that mid range swish. That is part of what makes him stand out so much.

I agree that he's been an excellent midrange guy, but count me as also somebody who is very pleased with Otto extending his range over the course of the season. Having a strength like the midrange game is great, especially with the popularity of zones, but having extra weapons when teams deny what they think is your major strength is what makes a good player into a great player. With that foul line jumper stroke, and uncanny offensive rebounding/putback ability already in hand, having even having that relatively "nothing special" 34% or so stroke from three is just another arrow in the quiver -- ESPECIALLY as this is only his freshman year. Imagine what working that up to a "better than average" long range percentage would do in making him almost impossible to defend!

MCI-
Early in the season he had the foul line and elbow mid range game 10 footer). He has extended his range in those areas (12-15) and has really polished his baseline jumper. His 3 pt range is a plus, but honestly not something I even care for him to shoot more than once or twice a game.
