Yup we hit the Georgetown Tournament loss Trifecta Davidson, Ohio, and VCU all won their conference tournaments. I can't imagine that the selection committee would match us up against any of them first round. And that's precisely why it WILL happen

Unlikely we'll see VCU projected a 11 seed. We're not falling to a 6.
However Davidson and Ohio are both potential 14 seeds.

Could we possibly have just been replaced by UL on the 3 line? Would make me even more mad at Cinci/life

In my mind unlikely, but who knows with the tournament committee.
Louisville has only 2 top 25 wins and a horrible loss by 30 to providence plus 1 more loss.
I would still seed us ahead of them, but one can certainly make the argument.
I would not be shocked to see us on the 4 line, but I think we deserve the 3.
I think one question the NCAA might have to consider is 3 BE #3 seeds and like wise 3 B10 #4 seeds. If they're ok with that I like our chances.

Actually, I don't mind facing any of those teams in the trifecta. Different year, different teams. I believe we handle any of them.

Checking out the bracket sites on the net is not a happy exercise this morning. The general consensus is that we are a 4, often in Kentucky's bracket. In many cases, Louisville is a 3. To add insult to injury, despite often being in the Midwest region, our first round game is usually projected to be played in Portland Oregon.
Not sure that would make for a great atmosphere at our Selection Sunday show.

We have only two road victories against tournament teams (three if you count Memphis in Hawaii), all over two months ago. I don't see us getting rewarded on seeding. It would be a bummer if the games were out west though, as I was hoping to attend.

It's interesting for us to guess at this stuff, but I doubt the team cares. We could easily be a 4 seed with a better matchup. Just MO, but I dont see an issue with us being in Portland or the like. I would be more worried if we were in PA, OH or NC with all those teams in the tourney. Eg, Davidson in Greeensboro, Ohio in Pittsburgh or Columbus, etc.

And, yes, we will only be rewarded with a 4 seed. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

(I don't really know how it's supposed to work)

If we are a 4, I could see us being matched up with Kentucky. It would just make the brackets work conference-wise, which is probably why a lot of folks have it that way. That said, it's not ideal, but I would absolutely take the chance to be playing in the second week against Kentucky.

Honestly, that's not much different than Marquette (only road wins are @wisc., @uconn, @wvu) or Michigan (only a neutral win v. Memphis), both of whom are consistently getting #3 seeds. And, Louisville has their BE tourney run, but aside from that, their only road/neutral win is @wvu.

I am prepared for a #4 or #5 seed, but the reality is the NCAA loves rematches from previous tournaments so I could easily see us paired with Davidson or Ohio. VCU will be too highly seeded, thank goodness. I also see us handling Davidson, but do not know enough about Ohio. The Hoyas bring a defense and length, especially on the perimeter, they have not had in the last 3 seasons. I really think the Hoyas can handle a team that relies on jumpshooting and 3s like Davidson. We run into trouble with a physical, defensive team that can ruin our offensive flow and score in the paint.

That said, Louisiville jumped us. I didn't realize the rpi and SOS impact of that win last night. Really have no argument against them either. They've beaten a ton of tournament teams. Wisconsin or Indiana, I would have taken issue with, but not Louisville.

We won't lose to the same ball screen 49 times in a row like we did against Ohio a few years ago. I want Belmont. Kenpom ranking aside, they haven't played a good team in 3 months and let's kick this off like 2007.

So highest probable outcome is getting a 4 seed and ending up in Kentucky's bracket? It would suck for these kids to have to go all the way out to Portland...I really hope that doesn't happen.

I agree with Giga. I think Lville might have a good case now. I don't think we are the low 4 seed, but we could be with Kentucky because of matchups. I would still be a surprise if we are in Portland, dont you guys think? That's a pretty big slap in the face.

It's not like sites out west have been unkind to us. The 1982, 1984 & 2001 teams all played out west. Actually, playing out west might be better--the East Coast hasn't exactly been kind to us the past few years

SI's bracket has us in a pretty brutal spot: 4 seed playing in Portland. The 1 seed is Kansas, which isn't bad, but the 2 is Michigan St which in my opinion would be the toughest 2. Then, there's the icing on the cake with Marquette being the 3 seed.

I'll take Lunardi's bracket. I just dont want to be matched up with Kentucky in the Sweet 16. If we play well I think we can beat any other team in the field.
