No Big East program should ever play Syracuse. Not St John's and not Georgetown. Syracuse is leaving the Big East. They are the ones that left. Why would St John's want Syracuse to be New York's college team? There are plenty of good programs that St John's could play that would want to play in MSG. And screw Pitt. Talk about cutting off your recruiting base.

Talk about cutting off your recruiting base. Seriously. Do we really think Boeheim is going to leave upstate New York in the non-conference when he has to travel to North Carolina to play conference games? And why would we want to go up there to play them? Syracuse is the new Maryland. We don't need them and there's no reason to go play away games against their middle of the pack (or worse) ACC team when we can play real teams.

By the way, speaking of rivalries.... Anyone listen to Mike and Mike this morning when they spoke to Dickie V? Didn't hear one reference to this game tomorrow night, but on and on about Duke and UNC. I know that bothers me and the rest of my orange wearing kind, but does it annoy you all as well? I'd say we have an interesting little rivalry. You should get used to being a second class citizen now, since you'll always be considered a second class program in the ACC. This is exactly right. Cuse fans should talk to Terps fans about what it's like to be a non-Tobacco Road school (heck, a non Duke or UNC school) in that conference. Second tier is about all Syracuse can hope for, and once Jimmy B is gone they may struggle to get that status. And enjoy the refereeing down there, too. Such a colossally stupid, greedy move.

Have fun trying to get a ticket to Cameron Cuse fans. I hope you fade to obscurity like Boston College and your football team is nothing but a waste receptacle for washed up Duke point guards.
I agree that negotiating an out of conference game should be on Georgetown's terms since 'Cuse is a traitor
Realitically 'Cuse will probably play SJU in the Garden before they ever play GTown on the road. I don't think setting up a Home/away rivalry deal with GTown fits a greedy school's agenda.

And St John's should never agree to play Syracuse. St John's can reclaim New York. If they want a big ACC opponent in MSG continue to play Duke and schedule UNC. No reason to give Syracuse exposure in NYC.

I re-watched last year's game at the dome on DVR. A few observations...
1. I was surprised that we were ranked 11th for that game and Syracuse was 13th. 2. We got off to a good start and held the lead for a good part of the first half. 3. We turned it over maybe once in the first half. Once. 4. We shot 50% from 3. 5. We limited their possessions to one shot as we controlled the defensive boards. 6. The guys looked very decisive passing into and out of the zone. No standing around. 7. Syracuse had essentially the same personnel as this year's squad minus Rick Jackson. 8. Jason played good D on Triche. Hollis played good D on Joseph. We played man for most of the game. 9. We played small for a large part of the game with our 3 guard unit, at times even having Markel sub in for one of the Run-DMV guys.
Different year. Different Hoya personnel. Same recipe for success?

Don't we see a whole lot of Otto in this game? Don't seem to need a bruising 4 in the form of NL given the long but wiry nature of Cuse's bigs outside of Melo. Its not like there is a major drop-off in rebounding potential with Otto in at 4.

However, I don't expect Vitalenor anyone else to promote a rivalry that is about to die. As a Hoya fan, my focus is on the future with games against UConn, Nova, Marquette, and the improving teams at St, Johns,Providence, Rutgers and Seton Hall.

Brasky's keys are right. Limit turnovers and transition buckets. I'd add to crash the boards. It's no guarantee for victory but each one is necessary.

However, I don't expect Vitale nor anyone else to promote a rivalry that is about to die. You obviously missed the KU-Mizzou game on Saturday. Vitale bawled his sorry backside off for three hours about how it's a crime against humanity baby that Kansas isn't willing to play ball anymore.

Well, l maybe the theme of the broadcast will be the impact of greed on the fans of college sports.

Right -- he couldn't stop talking about it, perhaps not realizing that no one outside of KS or MO cares whether the schools play each other. Are there any stats flying around about how Miami, BC and VaTech have done re: performance, dollars, attendance etc. since they joined the ACC. Not clear to me that the move has given them that much more upside. Syracuse may not have a problem because they are nationally prominent, but I don't know . . .

A few more thoughts.
Henry has shown the ability to pass out of the double team. Very important when he catches the ball in the middle of the zone and the defense collapses on him. He needs to be mean with the ball and not cough it up as he is prone to do. Our wings should be available at the baseline when the zone collapses. Need to finish strong at the rim. No fade-aways (except for Hollis).
We have been very vulnerable to the weak side alley-oop play. This is something Syracuse likes doing with Melo finishing at the rim. We need to challenge their guards to make that pass a little harder to make.
Lastly, the opposing player that was most effective against our defense last year was CJ Fair. We showed a similar vulnerability against Pitt when their forwards scored cutting to the basket on the weak side. Our weak side defenders should be wide awake with happy feet.

I thought the same thing when Boeheim first reacted. Now it's clear he's focused on taking it to his good friend K and Roy boy as well. I hope we crush them everytime we play, especially down in NC. As to the rest of the thoughts expressed here regarding leaving the BE, I completely understand. I remember reacting the same way when BC and Miami left. I'm still hoping the whole move falls apart. I've never made it to MSG for a BET and really had hoped to go this year, but work is taking me to Texas instead.

The only thing Cuse fans will be happy about after this game is that they won't have to face Otto Porter for 4 years.

With Syracuse out of the BE, women and children around here will be safe, for starters. We should publicly thank the ACC for taking them. Maybe send them a waring, though. To keep our integrity, we should never, never schedule them. If we have to play them in a tournament or the NCAA"s, we will have to beat them every time to remind them that We Are Georgetown, but you do not invite abusive and greedy traitors or their 50 year friends back into your house.

Syracuse and Pitt aren't on the ACC schedule for football this autumn, and the scheduling that the ACC announced on Friday is designed to accommodate a 12- or 14-team basketball league for 2012-2013. I wouldn't be surprised if we are playing both these teams next year, and I would assume there'd be more than a little conference/network interest in having Syracuse end their last regular season in the Big East with a road game at the Verizon Center. Which would be a Gray-Out of course. It does not look like SU and Pitt will be leaving until 2013-2014; that being the case, I fully expect we will play 2 BE games with SU next season, and that, unfortunately, the finale will be at Magoo Court.
