Is there a doctor who specializes in delusions of grandeur who can help Kris Joseph?

I'd wish you all good luck, but we all know I wouldn't mean it. Hope your squad falls tonight and our march to the matchup versus Kentucky rolls on.
I'll be back tomorrow (or later tonight) regardless of the outcome though. Just to give you my unbiased thoughts.

My memory is also that the quote came in the post game press conference. I like the story that JT, Jr. grabbed the PA mike better, though. Second best story is Smitty going coast to coast to beat SUcks (1989?) after they had scored to go ahead with 5 seconds to play. Place went from 30,00 screaming Orange fans to dead silence to 200 screaming Hoya fans in a nanosecond. I was there for that one. That Smitty floater is one of my favorite memories of childhood...i did laps around my living room screaming.

4 Keys to the Game
1) Henry Sims hands and decision-making. We all know that Hank is getting the rock in the high post of that defense. He needs to make sure to catch it cleanly, then make the right read to either look for his own shot, find the cutter, or find the shooter behind the line. If Henry does this, the offense will hum, and we'll have a very good shot tonight.
2) Hollis's shooting. I'm looking for both volume and accuracy. The best way to bust a zone is to shoot over it, and Hollis is uniquely capable of doing that due to his rare combination of touch and length. We can't have one of Hollis's disappearing acts if we want to win. He needs to take at LEAST 5 shots from beyond the arc, and nail at LEAST 3 of them tonight.
3) Control the turnovers. The numbers suggest that losing the TO battle overall is almost a given. (Cuse is one of the best in the country and both forcing them, and taking care of the rock themselves) The key here is to not let that margin get out of control. The primary ball handlers tonight will be Starks, Clark and Sims, so it is critical that they limit lost possessions to a minimum.
4) Offensive rebounding. This is Cuse's achilles heel. It's not talked about much, but due to their zone, Syracuse is one of the very worst defensive rebounding teams in the country. For the Hoyas to win, they MUST take advantage of this by crashing the glass and gaining extra possessions. The need for the bigs to do this is obvious, but it goes for our wings and guards as well. The key is to exceed any possession deficit created by turnovers through superior rebounding.
If the Hoyas take care of those 4 keys to victory, we should walk out of there with a win.

Interesting article by Luke Winn on si.com analyzing the Cuse zone (which I can't link, probably because I don't know what I'm doing). He used a mechanism that has been in place since 2003 to do the analysis, and concluded that this is the best Syracuse defense of that period. Keys to the defense are Melo (who is great at flopping, errrr, drawing charges) and Waiters, who is far superior defensively to either Scoop or Triche. As pointed out above, they are great at forcing turnovers, and we are often great at committing turnovers. Hopefully can avoid that tonight.

I sure hope SU kids are watching SportsCenter: all day talk of UNC-Duke and dissing us by talking up a matchup between SU-KU. Go ahead, look past the Hoyas......

A significant part of our success tonight will depend on the quality of our turnovers, not just the volume of turnovers. Where Syracuse can destroy you is with turnovers (and blocked shots) that lead to run outs. Consequently, we need to avoid interceptions at the top of the key - a Gregg Whittington special - like the plague.
Dead ball turnovers - walks, balls thrown out of bounds, even offensive fouls - won't kill us if they are not too numerous. But Syracuse's game plan is predicated on not having to play half court offense where we - and they - are roughly evenly matched.

I apologize if it has been mentioned, but I am pretty sure we were the last team to beat Syracuse at home. Let's get it done again!
